My assumption is that she handed out the list to prove her point — that stereotyping that paints everyone with the same brush — is inappropriate. (I am also assuming that the majority of students in her class would be white and would quickly recognize the problems with the stereotyping of whites.) Lesson:stereotyping is a problem.

I really miss the ol’ college days when I had unfettered access to UC Berkeley’s entire gymnasiums, weight rooms, swimming pools (except that really beautiful Julia Morgan-designed pool that was off limits to … men). It may have never been as slick as the Oregon NIKE Ducks facilities … but it was pretty damn good.

I’ve been thinking about using a little “Grecian-formula” on my salt and pepper goatee and long sideburns … as it is turning a little heavy on the salt. But I worry about awkwardly mismatched faux coloring. I guess I’d rather look my age than look like a colorblind vain dork. Similarly, my fledgling turkey-neck could probably use a little surgical “tightening-up” … but I’d rather go gobble-gobble than look like an expressionless mental patient.
