  1. And the idiocy of replacing John A MacDonald on the $10 bill ?
Why not replace Laurier? You think it’s just by chance? uff.

  2. It seems that teachers nowadays serve the same role as firemen in Ray Bradbury’s novel Fahrenheit 451.

  3. Me tellum McDonalds racist.Must takem down signs.Big Mac heapum insult to my people.

  4. I guess that a certain children’s song about a particular farmer must now be banned, right?

  5. Mr. Rat me havem no problem with Old McDonald as long as he stay off ancestral land.

  6. And we also need to rename all the schools named after Sir Winston Churchill. I understand he wasn’t for gay marriage or for access to all bathrooms for the transgendered.
The sickness in our universities is spreading.

  7. Well – if we can delete Pierre Trudeau’s name from Dorval Airport (rich, White CisMale, inheritor of petro-wealth, etc) I’m all for it. I still think Mirabel should be named for that SOB – he’s the one who created it, funded it, and then despaired when the economics didn’t work (duh)

  8. What!?
You can’t do that! I grew up loving John D McDonalds Novels, everything from “The Deep Blue Goodbye,” to “The Lonely Silver Rain.”
    Oh…. Never Mind.

  9. McDonalds isn’t even the same name. Come on people, see the sarcasm?
Can likely use this to de-history much of Canada. Last residential school closed in 1996. And what about you Laurier, Pearson, Trudeau and Chretien?

  10. I remember a few years ago that Ward Churchill was the convocation speaker at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (U of Toronto teachers college). That right there tells you everything you ever need to know about the product of our teachers colleges, and what their aim is. In case anyone forgets, this is Ward Churchill.

  12. For good measure, you might also have mentioned Mackenzie King and St. Laurent, thereby rounding out the 68 years of Liberal rule during the period of operation of the Residential Schools program (118 years, up to the closure of the last one, assuming, of course, that the Residential Schools came full-blown into existence upon the promulgation of the Indian Act in 1874).
Happily (or unhappily, according to taste), Victor Davis Hanson has written a new essay on the current distemper (entitled, “The Silliest Generation”; change a few place names and names of historical principals and presto!…could be Canada!):
    https://amgreatness.com/2017/08/21/the-silliest-generation/
Leaving aside for the moment the partisan motivations of the Liberals (always present and overarching, just as in the recent “electoral reform” debacle) behind this nonsense, I’d ask a fairly simple question: what practical good does any of this do for the First Nations? The justification offered by an ETFO representative from the Durham Region was that it would allow First Nations children attending the schools in question a “safe space”, free from the alleged associated discrimination of having to attend a school with Macdonald’s name on it. That excuse seems absolutely pathetic to me.
Hanson makes the point, among many others, that it’s easier to rename something than to, you know, actually do anything about the underlying problem. Take, for example, the current rendition of the Caledonia dispute. Apparently, it concerns the recent transfer (March, 2017) of about 380 acres of Ontario government land in the Brantford ON area to one of three First Nations groups in contention for the parcel. The protest, which has the effect of holding the townspeople of Caledonia to ransom and disrupting their lives, is by one or two of the non-recipient groups unhappy with the Wynne government’s actions in the matter. As it happens, the transfer deal was actually negotiated by David Peterson eleven years ago in order to get the barricades removed during the first protest.
Regardless of the merits of the agreement involved, why does it take eleven years for this to happen? In the same vein, we could also recall the Ipperwash dispute, which was occasioned by such furor and which concerned the failure of the federal government to return the lands it had commandeered from the Stoney Point First Nation for use as a Canadian Forces training facility during the Second World War. This dispute occurred in the mid-1990s (Chretien was PM), some fifty plus years after the end of the War. Why the delay? Just…why?
Returning to the current Caledonia dispute for a second, I had a lengthy conversation about it the other day with someone who would know, and it turns out, as I suspected, that it is well-known in Ottawa that the dispute over ownership of the 380 acres in question (recently restored to prime farmland, which came into the Province’s possession from Ottawa when it was no longer needed as a facility for the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan, which plan trained 350,000 air crew in Canada during the Second World War; who knew?) has quite a lot to do with which First Nation outfit will get to grow a new crop on it (guess which one?).
So, any of this will end well? And what, exactly, does any of it have to do with Sir John A. Macdonald?

  13. Look at the bright side my Canadian friends. All this leftist gone-way-too-far idiocy is the type of stuff that propelled DJT to the presidency. Now all you need is a Canadian version.

  14. Pierre needs to be erased from history since he actually supported the Nazis. There’s picture proof of him prancing about in a Nazi army helmet

  15. Both Laurier and Macdonald are being ‘upgraded’ to different bank notes; Borden and King are being removed.
“Sir John A. Macdonald, Canada’s first prime minister, will move from the $10 to a higher denomination, as will Sir Wilfrid Laurier, who is currently on the $5. Another Canadian will be chosen for the $5 note in a similar manner to Ms. Desmond.
Former prime ministers Sir Robert Borden and William Lyon Mackenzie King will be dropped from the $100 and the $50. The $20 bill, which has long featured the Queen, will remain unchanged.”

  16. Technically the First Nations were pretty good at killing each other and taking slaves. In theory the white man ended all that. You’re welcome.

  17. Well, I have learned something. I did not think teachers were that dumb. I guess a lot of them are that dumb.

  18. David Southam said: “Leaving aside for the moment the partisan motivations of the Liberals … behind this nonsense, I’d ask a fairly simple question: what practical good does any of this do for the First Nations?”
That’s the really great part, David. It doesn’t do a fricking thing for the Indians. The truth about the Liberals and the larger Lefty Universe in this country is, they have no motivations beyond bald partisanship. These people never met a real Indian, and wouldn’t like them if they did.

  19. Paleface McDonald would have done Canada a HUGE favor by NOT connecting East and West. He should have left the English on one side and the French on the other. Then, we Native peoples would have Peace … and within another 100 years, bought out the French bankruptcy with the white mans paper money they showered on us to numb their guilt. Then kicked the French out, reclaiming our ancestral lands.

  20. I have been thinking about that as the hysteria about Nazis is happening. This lead me to read a bit about Pierre. He really was a nasty piece of goods with strong Communist leanings. People may dismiss the motorcycle stunt as a silly prank, but this was done in a context where people were dying in WWII and he actually cycled through a Jewish area. How is that different from the KKKers and their torch parade? Trudeau senior was a spoiled rich kid whose darker side was overlooked by the fawning public. The Trudeau’s are still making fools of Canadians.

  21. I think the Liberal motivation is to destroy nationhood and national heritage to help pave the way for one world government. Unfortunately, in Canada their cause is helped by a lot of useful fools on the left.

  22. Any statues of that slave owning Injun, Joseph Brant, around? What about that genocider frenchy Champlain and all those French genociders. Any statues of Trudeau senior around? He brought shame to the country by marriage to a worthless slut rockband groupie, take em down!

  23. As usual, as of late, it is the mass media meee toooo, mee too syndrome.
Anything they complain about down south, the mass media/political complex will look for “me too”.
There is nothing original about it.
It could be just that they are playing interference for the airhead in Ottawa.
You see, he, as it is his way, does not have a clue what his puppet master is telling him to say and then he gets mixed up and talks from two sides of his mouth while one side does not know what the other side is saying.
So, rather than that, let’s talk about what the socialist/fascist unions say, that will make the plebeians think of other things and the airhead will just glide out of the mind.

  24. PM Alexander Mackenzie passed the Indian Act that institutionalized residential schools. Residential schools are older than Canada. Ain’t rewriting history to blame the Conservatives for all history’s ills. Also the current Conservative Party was formed in 2003.

  25. Should be “Ain’t rewriting history to blame the Conservatives for all history’s ills grand?”

  26. Maybe parts of history should be revised. The residential schools have been portrayed as being nothing but negative. However, this article paints a different picture of Sir Alexander Mackenzie School.

“Inuvik school demolition draws mix of emotions”
    May 5, 2014
“… Melissa Kisoun, who attended the school from 1983 to 1990, echoed Allen’s sentiments.
“Those were and always will be the best years of my life,” she said. “Part of Inuvik’s history gone, only memories will remain.” …
“The school where I received the best education; where I met and made life-long friendships; the school where Roxette was the coolest played artist at teen dances,” she recalled.
Vern Firth, who attended Stringer Hall from 1968 to 1972, was visibly moved as he stood and watched the structure come down, and said he wishes they could have kept it up a bit longer.
“It brings back a lot of memories. A lot of good friends went to this school. It was a good school to go to,” he said.”
Why aren’t stories about some residential schools like this one ever told? Of course, being a whitey, what do I know?

  27. The whole problem with the residential school settlement was the better story you told, the more money you got, all without evidence. Taking it up the wazoo was worth $250,000. One wouldn’t have to be very skeptical to assume that much of the testimony was made up for cash. At one time, a lot of Indians, particularly women, praised residential schools. You don’t see that nowadays – too much pressure not to end the gravy train.

  28. May as well go with Suzuki-Gore Freeway, it will be under water anyway. If they’re right.

  29. End the cultural appropriation by getting rid of the name canada
    rename this country: “Trudopia”

  30. Still on revisionism …
Not only should there be a revision of history but also of language. For instance, the word “conservative”. It struck me when hearing a news report about some event in Iran that the word “conservative” is usually used to describe various ayatollahs and other clerics. Just for the sake of confirmation, I googled ‘conservative + ayatollah’ and got 482,000 results.
Conservatives are usually depicted as far-right, extreme, fundamentalist, all negative connotations. The meaning of the word “conservative” as per Google:
    synonyms (adj.): traditionalist, traditional, conventional, orthodox, old-fashioned, dyed-in-the-wool, hidebound, unadventurous, set in one’s ways; moderate, middle-of-the-road, buttoned-down;
    informal: stick-in-the-mud
noun: a person who is averse to change and holds to traditional values and attitudes, typically in relation to politics.
synonyms: right-winger, reactionary, rightist, diehard; Republican; Tory
What about “progressive”? Neutral or positive connotations.
The meaning of the word “progressive” as per Google:
adj.: (of a group, person, or idea) favoring or implementing social reform or new, liberal ideas.
noun: a person advocating or implementing social reform or new, liberal ideas.
synonyms: innovator, reformer, reformist, liberal, libertarian

  31. As in the temperature record, collectivists must change the past to promote their radical leftist vision of the present and therefore the future.
That future, the “change” Justin referred to, is of course to the status quo past, with neo-Marxists replacing royalty, but in this case as unenlightened despots.
Collectivism can lead to no other conclusion. It is incompatible with freedom, liberty and widespread prosperity.
Government shall pick the winners; losers shall pick government. Since there is no theory of costs to worry about, market signals and economic discipline can be ignored. What happens when you withdraw your “business” from the government. You shall feel the weight of the coercive state. More and more coercion is required to take more and more liberty in the name of “equality.” It’s all so inevitable.
That’s why it’s a big mistake to open the door, even a crack, to the revisionist morons, teachers of all people seeking to rewrite history by the so-called sensibilities of today, rendering it’s ability to teach us impotent.
Something like the talking heads purporting to speak for the teaching profession, who should fire these people who seem utterly ignorant to the idea of teaching points. I’m assuming teachers actually go to union meeting, which if they are like others, that’s a sketchy idea.
It’s no surprise the left looks past alt-left thuggery – it benefits them – but on not a scintilla of evidence assign Nazi status to anyone supporting limited government.

  32. lol !!!
for a time, each friday nite I would mosey over to the local lieberal constituency hqts armed with scotch tape and a couple dozen photocopies of just this story and WALLPAPER the windows on a very very busy street.
they would disappear on monday and get renewed on friday evening.
this went on for several months.
curiously, reference to this story continues to disappear from the web.

  33. “Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.” Eric Blair better known as George Orwell. Wrote this in 1949 in a little novel called “1984” Groupspeak has officially arrived.

  34. I recall that when the Soviet Union collapsed, the leaders of the little coup, that was attempted by the communists against Yeltsin when Yeltsin climbed on the tank positioned near the Moscow White House, were referred to as “conservative”.

  35. Langevin went to the dustbin of history already, apparently his idea of re-educating the natives and destroying their culture was seen as bad by those who are currently trying to re-educate us and …. (my computer froze, expecting a visit from Mother Superior very soon).

  36. Yes I remember laughing about that. The left has so twisted political semantics that liberals aren’t really liberals, conservatives aren’t really conservatives, but anyone who doesn’t pray at the altar of cultural Marxist identity/grievance/revenge politics is a Nazi; or at best an “extreme right winger.”
For example check out the obviously fascist Patriot Pray Freedom Rally. What could be more hateful and racist, praying for freedom? Intolerable!
Any masked basement dwelling thug can see their hate, so alt-left patriotic violence is justified, at $25/hour.
A Freedom Rally – they’re obviously racists, because well they’re Nazis and Nazis are racist, and violent. Case closed.
They bleat about Trump’s “false equivalencies?” Political projection at its finest. Besides, respecting elections and the rule of law won’t dump Trump.
The praying freedom rallyers do no violence, commit no property damage and clean up after themselves.
Compare that with the professional agitators carrying peace weapons to defend themselves when they attack praying protesters, in full thuggery.
Only a Nazi would think all violence, or “both sides” can be wrong. The revolution, no wait, resistance, well actually, seditious insurgency, must go on.
Only a Nazi can’t see Antifa’s violent do-gooders are our latest finest generation, metaphorically, along with significant property damage, storming the beaches at Normandy to stop Republicans, no wait – fascists.
Basement emancipates – intellectually lazy and violent idiots temporarily untethered from their parents’safe spaces and wallets) – are saving us? No TY.
Progressives are collectivists but their brand of violent coercion is OK with elites because they’re trying to “fix society,” like Stalin was for example.
Remember if you don’t criticize Nazis in the right way, in the case of Donald Trump that would be admitting he was a Nazi, then you’re a Nazi.
Therefore ALL Republicans are Nazis, along with the 50 million or so of Americans who support them. Isn’t that uplifting? FU in 2018; great slogan.
How’s that for their “Better Deal,” calling half the adult population racists and Nazis. But the big news from the deluded ones is Trump is “unhinged?”

  37. All statues or monuments honouring Louis Riel and Gabriel Dumont need to be removed. Everyone knows what racist, violent thugs they were. The # 11 highway from Regina to Saskatoon is named The Louis Riel Trail. This highway needs to be renamed immediately. The Stephen Harper Expressway has a nice ring to it.
