“Service”

And out of the spin cycle:

On Monday, Mr. Butts argued in 15-part twitter thread that Mr. Sarkar’s pay is in line with three others the Liberals have recruited for diplomatic posts from outside government – but the only one on the list in a comparable position as a consul-general, Phyllis Yaffe, earns significantly less.

  1. I will gladly take a fictitious “pay cut” for a do-nothing job in government paying more than a $ quarter million dollars annually. Yep … where do I sign-up? Screw this $15 dollar minimum wage … I want one of them LUXURY jobs.

  2. There is absolutely no upper limit to the amount of other people’s money a government can waste! 🙁

  3. It doesn’t happen only in government. At the place where I used to teach, I knew of administrators who were well-paid and did next to nothing all day. (Rumour had it that the institution’s president hired one of his in-laws for such a position.)
But then those same administrators whined about how funding was tight and departmental budgets had to be cut. Guess who were the one who had to pay for that in the next contract?

  4. If you want the title, take the pay cut. I wonder what foreign service officers think about this sh*t.LLOSE

  5. Bev oda’s 16$ glass of orange juice was presented as a national scandal by the media. This will be lucky to get one percent of the column inches the oda story did. We are so flucked.

  6. A gangsters life. This is the same Gerry (Heinrich Himmler) Butts who in connection with his gangster buddy Katie Telford stole $250 thousand dollars from the treasury to move from Toronto to the city of Ottawa. Juthtins script writer sure is a brazen gangster isn’t he, not to mention a sneering colossal asshole. Liberals behave this way knowing full well they’ll get away with it assured that the Media won’t care. Nope, no Duffy treatment from the Media when a Librano is involved.

  7. The money was not wasted, it was not taken out and burnt. Any money sitting in a Liberal’s bank account is not wasted, it’s invested. /sarc if it necessary 🙂

  8. “…Gerald Butts says his friend’s pay rate in San Francisco-based role is in line with other diplomatic posts outside government.”
I see what he means. It’s a vertical line.

  9. “There is absolutely no upper limit to the amount of other people’s money a government can waste!”
Because, as a friend once pointed out to me, there are only two kinds of money: “my money” and “your money”.
“My money” is sacrosanct and to be spend only by me.
“Your money” is of no consequence and can be spent any way we like.

  10. This is so offensive. I don`t think the Globe allows comments on this one, though I am sure they encouraged a lot of comments about Oda`s orange juice. Someone attending Trudeau`s next public event should ask him about it. I am sure we will get a lot of stuttering in return.
