  2. Thanks for one of the greatest songs ever written. My Dad died of cancer, I was with him on the morning he passed away. Had I told him everything that I wanted to before he died?? Had he told me everything that I wanted or needed to hear?? Probably not. Relationships are never perfect. Whoever wrote the song obviously dealt with that issue in his own way, by writing about it.
    I often wonder how many people die and take unsettled issues to their grave, or how many people are left behind without closure to the death, especially when someone dies instantly and unexpectedly. In a world where relationships are become so more difficult to entertain, perhaps we should be thinking about that. Best would be not to let them fall apart in the first place.

    Sounds like the current mass hysteria generated by socialists, media, academia, Hollywood studied national socialism on how to do mass propaganda and make dictatorship, fascism, socialism look like that is what plebeians want. While some because of ignorance do want it the propaganda makes others to be afraid to speak out.

  4. Soooo – I am watching a CBC documentary on a Syrian family 4 kids husband wife ,one on the way (here now ) seem like nice people . They are finding it rough in Canada ,miss their family . They were interviewed in front what looked like a comfortable home , he drives around in what I presume to be a newer car ( I could see a push button start ) dreaming of being a construction superintendent . They miss their parents and would like to fast track them into Canada . Some Kind hearted Toronto lawyers have taken up their cause . Here’s the kicker . After more than a year , neither parent is working. I recall seeing this possibly a year ago and apperantly they have not yet found work.
    I am sure I am deplorable for pointing this out . I can tell you my Grandfather arrived here when he was 14. He never saw his parents again. It was 60 years before he returned home. He didn’t collect a penny from the government until he received his pension. A cousins grandfather spent first winter living in an overturned wagon box . He walked 40 miles to bring back a hundred pound sack of flour to make the winter . He carried it back.
    The lawyer says it’s unfair to say old people have nothing to contribute . They would like to see the parents expedited into the country, and the borders opened to more immigration. Possibly these people are paying all their living expenses , but I am doubtful. What could possibly be wrong ?

  7. That’s quite a change from when my parents and I came to Canada more than 60 years ago. They didn’t expect any money from the government as they expected to earn their keep and pay their own way. Anything that was given to us was an unexpected bonus.
    Then again, in those days, Canada was looking for skilled workers. Both of my parents had something to offer as they were journeymen in their respective trades.

  13. Because I felt as you no doubt do, I researched a little more about this proposal to disenfranchise the elderly.
    The MacCleans article is pretty much a rehash of this article from 2004 by a Canadian Philosophy professor Joseph Heath (UofToronto) posted at/on The Institute for Research on Public Policy (IRPP) website. Which, according to Wiki, “is one of Canada’s oldest nonpartisan public policy think tanks. It is an independent, national, bilingual, not-for-profit organization.”

    The heart of the arguement is this: “Since the elderly no longer have a direct stake in the long-term solvency and stability of the social order, they should forfeit their influence over the management of this order. Eliminating the right to vote at the age of 70 would be an easy way to achieve this.”
    Now make no mistake, I think this premise is not only false but total nonsense and would in fact argue the contrary.

  14. 3600 a month ? nice My wife of 50 years and I split just under 1400 $ a month of course we also pay our own medical, dental, optical, pharmaceuticals etc.
    We raised two kids moved to where the work was and paid taxes for over 100 years, not a typo!
    My grandad came out from the slums of Glasgow as an orphan immigrant at 10 got handed a shovel worked for some farmer at Portage left there at about 11 never looked back.
    To dimbulb Turdeau a “Canadian is a Canadian …..etc unless of course they are white and a taxpayer.
    I am still working part time I am not complaining with my lot in life just po’ed with the “gimmegrants”
    He is busy importing multi generational voting blocks and like Hildebeast will win big in the urban centers

    I’m also sick and tired of hearing pap from our PM about “values we hold dear”..what are they now?
    What kind of country do you end up with if you encourage people to come here illegally and partake of our generosity? How do we know all of those walking into OUR country are actually who they say they are? It’s a bit late to figure that out after they are here and able to have all the rights as dictated in the Trudeau Charter.
    The folks in Cornwall ONTARIO are being kept in the dark as to the government plans regarding taking care of the 500 plus they are sending to be accommodated in available quarters…PLUS they’re also setting up tents for the rest…tent city anyone? What kind of message is this sending, not only to others from other countries but to the US Government? Is this something we would like to have happen in the reverse?
