Video
A few minutes in a young woman states that a fellow with a Trump shirt has no right to be on the grounds of city hall. That reminded me of how an NDP thug once told me that I had no right to be at a Conservative Party rally on the grounds of the Vancouver Public Library. But the Left are the angels and the Right are the haters, eh?!

Free speech, does not choose sides.
I just heard about that event. It strikes me as being a bit too self-congratulatory and imitative — trying to drum up the racial context we are seeing in many US cities in a city where there are few blacks and probably few Muslims). Virtue signaling by Vancouverites. Curiously, from the video, there do not appear to be a lot of Chinese at that event . . . in a city where the Chinese and whites are pretty much two solitudes. The other thing it reminded me of was a United Church event where they have everyone shake hands. Honestly, mouthing platitudes about “diversity” and congratulating one another for not being racist is pretty silly. Here is the Star account of the event: https://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2017/08/19/vancouver-anti-racism-rally-spread-a-message-of-love-tolerance.html
Will calling someone a Nazi (even dulling the edge by adding “sympathizer”) become as meaningless as calling ones opponent a racist? Shouting wolf every time the snowflake sees its own shadow is a dangerous thing.
Considering that it happened in Vancouver, I’m not surprised. I encountered that malarkey when I was a grad student at UBC almost 4 decades ago.
Dissenting views, particularly those from a conservative perspective, weren’t welcome there even then.
Pretty much. I suspect that from the perspective of many Vancouverites, anyone on the political right of centre is a Nazi sympathizer. It is hard to take people seriously when, as you say, they tend to overuse the concept, and when their own intolerance just happens to be around political views, rather than race.
In the case of Vancouverites, part of the phoniness of an anti-racism rally is that for the most part they do not deal with real race issues. This same rally in Toronto might have greater significance. So the Vancouver rally becomes an exercise in a virtually all-white crowd smiling at one another and agreeing: “We’re so wonderful” for which the Prime Minister congratulates them in a tweet. Please . . . spare the rest of us such displays of smug sanctimony.
The Brats of Vancouver’s institutional left, even with Federal, Provincial and municipal friendly representation feel that they have to join in the anti-Trump, anti-free speech, fascist hate-fest. Confronting these people in such a mass hysteria saturated environment is not very productive and could be risky.
Tolerant people do not go into attack mode at the mere whiff of a differing opinion.
Leftards are consistently proving that THEY are indeed the intolerant BIGOTS in the free world. This disconnection is quite amazing to witness, yet we see their examples of ignorant hypocrisy daily. The right is failing miserably at fighting fire with fire and should be rubbing bigoted Lib/Dem faces in their own filth.
Maybe Cons/Reps should adopt a mantra of “Logic Over Emotion” and publicly and loudly challenge Lib/Dem politicians to debate important topics IN DEPTH. If they refuse, shame them and accuse them of being vile people. It is well past time to yank these destructive bozos from the protective breast of their many media.
You don’t win any kind of war by playing defense.
Confronting these people in such a mass hysteria saturated environment is not very productive and could be risky.
Yup. I found that out several times while I was at UBC.
For example, I once attended a talk there given by some American professor. The subject was the banning of nuclear weapons. This happened while the Red Army was in Afghanistan and Solidarity had just been established in Poland.
The thrust of that presentation was nuclear weapons should be banned–only American nukes, that is. The Soviets, of course, were given a free pass not only by the prof but by the audience as well.
When I brought up the issue about what was happening in Afghanistan and that I didn’t trust the Soviet Union, I thought I was about to be lynched.
The sad part was some of the people who wanted to string me up were good church-going people. They believed in liberation theology, which was effectively spreading the love of Christ through the barrel of an AK-47. Appealing to logic, reason, and history wouldn’t have worked with them.
This is called democracy, folks, that is, mob justice.
No judge, no jury, no trial, no nothing.
Just “guilty”.
I expect Mr Steve Bannon to fight flame throwers with flame throwers, now that he’s out of the swamp. And I expect President Trump to be given a crash course in political etiquette ala Pygmalion. Hold the Tweets, and complement every Democrats speech. Soon, President Trump will be indistinguishable from the opposition party. And so the “true conservatives” at the National Review will say they told us so … that Trump was a liberal all along. And everything goes back to GOPe as usual … and Wall Street continues to suck the taxpayers dry.
If they wanted to string you up, they obviously weren’t good church-going people.
They were probably hypocrites who flog gun control here while violating “thou shalt not kill” abroad with their AK-47s. And we know how their Saviour regarded hypocrites.
They were probably hypocrites who flog gun control here while violating “thou shalt not kill” abroad with their AK-47s.
Exactly. This happened at the late 1970s/early ’80s. During that time, there were a number of nasty local wars being fought in Africa and Latin America. Those people automatically sided with the leftists, believing that those on that side of the political spectrum were for “justice” and “freedom” while those on the right were all oppressive fascists.
(As we know from subsequent history, many of those social justice “paradises” turned out to be worse than what they replaced, but that’s another story.)
They would have been the sort that considered all Americans who served in Viet Nam as being baby-killers while conveniently ignoring the fact that the Viet Cong had quite a few nasty habits of their own. They also wouldn’t have said one peep about what the Khmer Rouge did in Cambodia.
As for the “good”, I was a bit vague about that detail. What I meant to say was that they attended regularly, though I had little idea about how closely their lives and personal conduct followed what was outlined in Scripture.
As I’v said in here before, most “Kristians” are lefties or apolitical. Do a thought experiment, and see were the lefties are the dominant religion and what political ideology prevails there. Central and south America, all katholiks, and all libtards. Italy France Ireland Britain all katholics (Anglicans) and mostly leftists. I have found that even many who claim to be right wing espouse many leftist beliefs.
Yes and I heard a report this AM on the radio of some left coast politico saying there was no room for hate in Vancouver.
Apparently we must all publicly disavow “hate” or we will be hated. 1984 anyone?
You mean anyone NOT left of centre surely.
My thoughts on viewing this video ranged from anger at first to sadness and then alternated between those two thoughts as I realized I will probably be gone before this bunch of Maoist Red Guards realize their ultimate aims but my children and grandchildren will have to experience their benevolence.
Robert, I would suggest that there will be no civil war in Canada. We, those of us right-of-center, have already lost. The aims of these people and their handlers were accomplished quietly and insidiously through the university educational system. Saul Alinsky and his fellow accomplices have done their work well. Yuri Bezmonov and others warned us but our societal “makes no waves” norms conditioned us to go quietly.
This is only the beginning folks. Note the efforts of Paris Scheer regarding The Rebel and the United Conservative Party of Alberta’s contortions in being a standard bearer in the Calgary Pride Parade. Conservative politicians can’t bend over fast enough.
See also my Reader Tips about Google’s partnership with the radical left to silence anyone on the right. George Soros is busy cleaning up residual resistance.
It ain’t over yet, the snowflakes rage at anyone that does not hate Trump.
A neighbour actually got so upset talking about Trump that he started to shake.
I said America survived 8 years of Obama it will survive Trump, he may even make some much needed changes.
I recall my wife and I being treated to the sight of a little weasel with a cardboard sign that said “racist” on our way into a Reform party convention in Victoria.
I told him that his spelling was wrong.
He turned the sign around and looked puzzled, by that time we walked past him.
We did elect a Conservative Government twice folks.
We can do it again but first we need a leader I don’t see one yet.
Our Pride Parade Prince is a prancing little jackass NAFTA is going to very bad news for Canada with the Liberals virtue signalling crew JMO
….I would suggest that there will be no civil war in Canada. We, those of us right-of-center, have already lost.
It was lost 40 years ago, courtesy of PET’s policies and the people and institutions that were duped into thinking that they were in the best interests of the country.
I’ve mentioned in other threads that I was involved with a certain congregation (quite foolishly, as it turned out) while I was at UBC. There was a prevailing habit of groupthink with those people. Nobody questioned anything, no matter how irrational it was. The king was always splendidly attired, even if he was buck naked, and everyone was expected to see him as being dressed in his finery.
As I mentioned elsewhere, any deviation from the accepted thought had consequences, even if it was simply being mocked or marginalized. This was a group of people that advocated and supported defiance of the established order in the name of “justice”. In this case, however, they were that established order and having a mind of one’s own wasn’t tolerated for very long.
So much for the Christian doctrine of free will.
Then again, that congregation was located in the Vancouver area, a place where logic and reason go to die.
I couldn’t agree more with both of you. I’m long of tooth and short of hair and I don’t expect to be around to see the complete ruination of this country. I lived in hope that enough Canadians would wake up and realize that they are being led down a very dark avenue before they reach the end. My hope however, dissipates a little more each day as I surf the internet. This past week has thoroughly disgusted me with the supposed leadership of all parties of this country. When you advocate tolerance and acceptance of a culture that is diametrically opposed to all that once created this country and culture, you are dancing with the Devil. The destruction of Western culture is well on its way, and those that once would defend it are being demonized and vilified by the very people that were elected to lead. You are both right this war has already been fought and lost, years ago, the last nail in the coffin was the last election. Harper was the last man standing that gave any hope to turning this route around.

And as if to prove my point about the country being lost…..

Canada to Justin…. When they are already in the country they have beaten the immigration system. Once they cross the border according to the SCOC they are entitled to everything a tax-paying Canadian citizen has worked for all their lives only the que-jumpers haven’t paid the taxes the rest of us have.
Oh and Canada to Michelle about that turning away thingy, when the government starts deporting the tens of thousands that are already here under false and lying statements maybe the taxpayers will start to believe you. You might want to start properly vetting and cleaning up sitting members of the House. Once that is done start looking at solving the anchor baby problem.
Amen and well said.
