  1. I noticed at noon today that CTV was still picking at Donald Trump and trying to fabricate unfounded reasons as to why he (Trump) had not (in CTV’s and other MSM eyes) properly or fully denounced the actions of white supremacists of Charlotteville.
How CTV does it is simple, They take the story, they add bits and pieces that are totally irrelevant to confuse the viewer. Then they bring on unknown commentators who allegedly possess the education to make an intelligent statement on the story. Commentators who respond to the CTV in exactly the way CTV wants to hear it.
This is Mr Trumps response on CBS.

If some the MSM had not warped the story when it first happened, there would have been no confusion.

  2. “So, who outed Fildebrandt?”
It had to be the NDP with a research budget of a determined media person with a lot of personal hate. To determine that an MLA double dipped $190 of meal expenses over 2 1/2 years requires a lot of research and is so trivial that it couldn’t be anything other than an error.
Renting his personal apartment out through Airbnb made him $2,500. Wow! And it likely cost the government nothing. The Edmonton housing allowance maxes out at something like $23,000 per year and with or without taking the Airbnb revenue into account, I’m sure the allowance would be maxed. Again, finding such stuff required a lot of effort.
The hit and run? We’ll wait and see but there’s a lot variation and room for misunderstanding in “leaving the scene of an accident”, especially if it was an unreportable accident and he identified himalf but we’ll have to wait for this one.
To put everything in perspective, the $2,690 in question is 1/4,000,000 of the deficit the Reds are running or $2,690 per capita per year. Now that’s outrageous.

  3. That Trump press conference is what it sounds like when a bunch of “journalists” stick their fingers in their ears and shout “Na na na I can’t hear you.”

  4. I think ALL MLA’s should be audited for living allowances. Other than a spouse, how many might have a room-mate or student sharing? Derek can be a loud mouth and a loose cannon, but a smear campaign like this is despicable, or should I say deplorable?

  5. CFL – diversity? 70 years too late. Normie Quong started in 1948 and Johnnie Bright in 1952. Bright turned down the chance to be the first black player for the Philadelphia Eagles to play in Canada. That was back in the day when racism was more than hurt feelings.

  6. Why are they SELLING the Canadian Game? If they attract more talent like
the new Riders Punt returner (Crimson Tide) it improves the CFL..Talent can be bamboozled, or not
Strength through Diversity made the BC Coach look like a fat wimp

  7. I remember a time in the CFL when diversity meant that the players could play more than one position. Two-way players who played both offense and defense were common. Tommie Joe Coffey was a wide receiver, a defensive back and one of the best place kickers of all time. Now that’s diversity.

  8. This article and recent events bring to the fore something that has been on my mind for a while now: The great hypocrisy we see in condemning Nazism but not Communism.
When I’ve mentioned lately that we should be calling out all forms of evil including Communism the counter argument is that Nazism is that greater evil because of its inherent racism. I respond by asking if lives lost – regardless of race, religion or ethnicity – would be the better metric given that communism as an ideology has killed many times more that of Nazism. And if, for example, four victims of a specific race is a worse atrocity than ten victims of varying backgrounds what metric is used to measure the value of those lives above the others?
It seems to me that when there is a multi-death murder we collectively mourn it to a larger degree than a single racially motivated death but that same standard doesn’t seem to apply to 20th century history.
Is this because racism is so abhorrent that it is granted higher anathema than other ideologue-based deaths?
I’d be interested in hearing others’ thoughts on this.

  10. Everything in Canada, political leadership and all, must be going along smoothly when so much is being discussed about the goings on in the US. It appears our media, talk show hosts included can’t stfu about Donald Trump, they’re freaking obsessed! What we have leading this country is nothing to crow about.

  11. “It seems to me that when there is a multi-death murder we collectively mourn it to a larger degree than a single racially motivated death but that same standard doesn’t seem to apply to 20th century history.”
The murder of 6 plus million is a crime, the murder of 30 plus million in Russia and 60 plus million around the world is a statistic.

  12. “The death of one man is a tragedy but the death of a million is a statistic.
    “Uncle Joe” Stalin

  13. Of course the Canadian media have to talk about Trump. If they didn’t dwell on Trump so much they might have to talk about some of the deficiencies in the way Canada is being lead and that would never do.

  14. Say, isn’t it 40 years ago today that Elvis Presley died?
I remember coming home from work in the company pool car and hearing the news on the radio. All of us in the vehicle couldn’t believe what we had just heard.
Later, I was listening to As It Happens and the program called Wolfman Jack to get his comments. The call, and the reason for it, was the first time he heard that Elvis had died.
My own connection to him, though rather indirect, came through an amateur radio contact on a certain frequency band several years ago. The other station was located in NE Mississippi, about 50 km from Tupelo and roughly 100 km across the state line from Memphis.
He was born, and later died, in an area that many Canadians could drive across in an hour.

  15. Not only are they obsessed, they give a completely lopsided view. They simply parrot the talking points of the US media which is profoundly biased. They are unabashed anti-Trumpers, primarily for their own selfish reasons. As Canadians, there is no need for us to follow suit.
There was an editorial in the Globe today that was absolutely simple-mined in its one-sided venom against Trump. What is strange is that at a distance from the States, you would expect slightly more objectivity. The only balanced columnist I have encountered is Conrad Black. Black’s arguments are always compelling, objective and well-reasoned. Is Black the only independent thinker writing for Canadian media?
Not surprisingly, many Canadians are lead along like obedient minions — not thinking for themselves, but simply swallowing the media propaganda.
