Another eclectic mix of energy and climate news stories from around the world.
This week we kick off with more electricity market reform in the UK and continue with OPEC’s continuing trials and tribulations; US shale producers cut back; the South China Sea oil & gas standoff; Google moves into nuclear fusion; wind capacity growth lags in Europe; Australia’s Great Barrier Reef superhighway; German states commit to coal; the Trump administration lines up its “red team”; everyone except automakers predicts rapid EV growth; the UK’s first geothermal power plant; a Chinese solar farm shaped like a giant panda, and how failure to cut CO2 emissions could cost our grandchildren 535 trillion dollars.

If you were to start a thread called Blackout (not that great a name) Bull-shout or what ever (personally I’d stick with the descriptive BS title if you must) I fear you don’t have enough time or internet space to address the truly rampant output of BS from the worlds leading propaganda creators and protagonists in fake news.
Better IMHO to deny them the traffic and prestige of visiting their evil empire of bias and corruption and hope that one day they finally collapse into their own cesspool.
The use of the worthless modal Verb “should” is a hollow admission of unknown nonsense.. It should never be used in a scientific paper because it is meaningless, but Lawyers use it as a weasel word to suggest an action without a clear commitment.
AGW is a carny (Clown) fairy tail…Fairy fart catcher’s the LOT
The Carbon Scam is done, you should/could run…
Euan,
Thanks for the weekly compilation. All the energy/green news in one read. As you point out in the comments, some of it is nonsense, but it helps me understand why some people I meet are so misled.
At DSV, I hear what you are saying. I have not made my mind up yet. My main target would be the BBC that is currently a mouth piece and cheer leader for BS government policy.

@ Walter F. It is Roger Andrews who compiles the Blowouts. He is a retired Brit who lives in Mexico. The idea is that we give an unedited cross section of news stories including all the BS and Greenshit. Readers need to make up their own minds about where the line runs between reality and fantasy.
