Frivolous court case results in enviro-nuts paying court costs.
The Supreme Court of Canada has ordered the Chippewas of the Thames, a community of 3,000, to pay energy giant Enbridge’s legal fees after an unsuccessful attempt by the First Nation to stop the company’s ambitions on its controversial Line 9 pipeline.
I’m just curious ? What’s the exchange rate between wampum and the loonie ? Or beaver pelts, baby harp seal skins … and the loonie ?

One way or another,the Canadian taxpayer forks over the dough when it involved FN’s. FN’s can and do run to the Great White Mother in Ottawa if they run short of funds,so pay they might,but eventually we will have to reimburse them or they will all starve to death right on CBC national TV!
Most of the FN’s who sit on the Rez’s are too lazy to hunt or trap,which takes a lot of hard work, but I always enjoy how they suck in the credulous media into believing they “live off the land”. Bullshit.
There may be a few in very remote areas that do,but I have spent a lot of time on several Rez’s over the years,and worked with a lot of Noble Warriors who moved to the city,and the old ways are practised only by a very few of the Old Guys.

If Enbridge decides to pursue asking for costs it ultimately will be the Canadian taxpayer that will pay the shot. Don’t forget that Trudeau reversed the Court Challenges government financial assistance that Harper got rid of, but I am not sure if this covers that sort of court case.
John Chittick, I suspect that you are right. Tides Canada? Soros needs to have his Brazilian oil interests protected and Warren Buffet wants Burlington Northern to make money hauling oil.
Tides won’t pay, they rent rioters, gin up the community leaders, who put their names on the lawsuits on behalf of the Tribe. So it will be the Tribe taking the hit.
