  1. Toronto Star, Monday, July 24. This probably qualifies as “fake news”:
    https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2017/07/24/kevin-johnston-charged-with-hate-crime.html
“Johnston … is best known for his strong views about the Muslim community, having opposed the construction of a mosque in Meadowvale, offered prize money for videos of students praying on Fridays, and protested against the federal anti-Islamophobia motion, M-103.”
No, he did not “offer prize money for videos of students praying on Fridays”. He offered a prize for videos of hate speech at the prayers, which is not the same thing. The Globe and Mail and the National Post got it right.
Just last week an imam in Edmonton was himself charged with “hate speech”. It would be repulsive and profoundly hypocritical for Johnston to be charged based on his call for videos to expose hate speech.
Personally I don’t support the hate speech laws. Let the haters put their case in the court of public opinion, and be sentenced to several months of pointing and laughing.
I’m not a religious believer but if students want to pray in school, including in an organized service, let them. I don’t believe in taking the “public” fetish too far, in education or anything else. I also think Muslims are entitled to have the same rules for the construction of mosques as Christians are for churches, Jews for synagogues, etc.

  2. Canadian journalist charged for criticizing Islam. Is The Rebel next?
    Ezra LevantRebel Commander
But yesterday, a guy named Kevin Johnston was charged, not with a human rights offence, but with a “hate motivated” crime under the Criminal Code, based on “information published on various social media sites.”
(These charges were approved by the Attorney General — who just happens to be Yasir Naqvi, a Muslim who immigrated here from Pakistan.)
Johnston is a muckraker. He sees the country changing in intolerable ways. Like the fact that Christian prayers have been banned in public schools, but Muslim prayers are not only allowed, they’re subsidized.
I don’t always agree with Johnston, either on his substance of his style. But he’s mouthy. So what?
I don’t know what the facts are upon which Johnston was charged.
They haven’t been released, and Johnston says a judge ordered him not to discuss it.
But the fact that he wasn’t charged with uttering a threat suggests it was the crime of having the wrong opinions.
    I do know this:
They’re coming for Kevin Johnston today. it’ll be us tomorrow, and maybe you the next day.

For the first time in it’s history, the enemy of our Canadian liberty lies not in the armies of hostile nations on foreign shores. Ones dedicated to imposing totalitarian political ideologies on Canadians. The danger arises from Marxist-Leninists aligned with Islamo-fascism from within our borders. The Axis of Evil would make criminal even challenging it to open and free public debate within the Canadian body politic.
The imposition of the Sharia law of blasphemy is the first goal of the M.B. and has been of the Organization of Islamic Conference for many years. Marxist regimes target free speech with a zealotry. Both have left hundreds of millions of dead in their wake. Our ancestors faced both of them down. Now it is our turn.
Courage good Canadians, to remain strong and free requires standing on guard for thee. Facing down sedition and treason with speech free and reason. We fight not because we hate what we face. so much as we love what we can only protect by prevailing.

  3. Huge Eric Church fans here. My wife and I saw him in Sacramento recently and are taking our two boys to see him in Tahoe. Epic songwriting talent behind him (Casey Breathard, Jeff Hyde, etc) and within him.

  7. No parking for Canada Post in bike lanes? I suspect residents will be eager to make alternative mail delivery arrangements.

  8. “Mao*: Liberal Justine’s favourite dictator.”
And why shouldn’t he be? He killed more people than anyone else in history.

  9. The House of Representatives almost unanimously passed a motion taking away Trump’s power to reduce sanctions against Russia without their permission. The War Democrats have spoken. Personally, I doubt that the Russians interfered with the election in any meaningful way and cannot see any motive in them doing so, other than general disinformation. Why they would prefer the Republicans who are harder on commie types than the Democrats who haven’t met a dictator they didn’t want to blow is beyond me.

  10. Pathetic that loyalty can be bought with paper products. But it does show how easily the troops could be turned against Maduro.

  11. Rolling Stone? Isn’t that the same fishwrap that got sued for publishing a story based on false evidence?

  12. eureka!! I got it!! *brand new* handle for shiny pony:
Turdeux. get it? turd deux as in turd #2 (ignoring the common meaning that a “#2” is a poop)
tell all your friends and colleagues !! lets make it official !!! you heard it here first at SDA !!!
meanwhile, the usual liberal MSN Canada has this ditty about monsieur turdeux:
    http://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canada/the-10-most-cringeworthy-lines-in-rolling-stone%e2%80%99s-justin-trudeau-profile/ar-AAoRXqt?li=AAggNb9&ocid=iehp
in other news, just got in from visiting the local lieberal mpp where I in a sense seriously inquired in wyynedfarm suffers OCD. symptoms are her obsessiveness about ‘green energy’ and compulsion to do such things as ram it thru vacant the usual vetting process for govt contracts. I also dropped off a printout describing the ghastly death toll among migratory birs and especially bats that consume BILLIONS of malevolent insects like mosquitos that spread west nile virus. what I didn’t say is it would be enormously fitting if some bat out there that was destined to eat the mosquito that was destined to give that inept idjit some painful debilitating infection, was among the casualties.

Accompanied at NN by this plea,”why can’t he be OUR President”.
If Trudeau is the “free world’s best hope”,there IS no hope for the free world.
Interesting though that after his 1936 meeting with Hitler,MacKenzie King said that Hitler was “the hope for the world”.
I guess pi$$ poor judgement is the strong point of liberals and progressives.

  14. there are bike lanes in tranna? can we have some? why cant the trucks leave room betwixt curb and rt side of the friggin truck? somebody likes to play ‘death race 2000’ with cyclists? anyone know where I can buy a handgun to shoot the tires out of drivers that like to see how close they can get to my handlebars? BICYCLES ARE REQUIRED TO STAY OFF THE SIDEWALK.
WE ARE E-N-T-I-T-L-E-D to use whatever portion of the city street *necessary* at whatever speed road conditions and fitness of the cyclist *dictate*. the lazy lardasses inconvenienced by this need decision to be more active.
this ‘attitude’ amongst conservatists labeling cyclist as ‘enviro weenies’ etc CRAP really irks me.
    insert sarcasm here: |_|

  15. One and the same. Unconfirmed reports say Trudeau is giddy at the prospect of meeting Dzhokhar Tsarnaev at the Rolling Stones Christmas Party.

  16. Here in Edmonton we’ve got drivers who use cyclists for target practice. I’ve lost count as to how many times I’ve nearly been run off the road or clipped by motor vehicles passing too close to me.
On the other hand, when I’m driving and I see a cyclist, I pass give him or her as much room as possible. If I can, I’ll change lanes. I also make a point of honking my horn to let them know I’m behind them as it’s often difficult to hear when there’s a car coming.

  17. OK, you can have him, but we get Trump. The ultimate NAFTA re-jig. Then all the progressives can all assemble in the gulag of their making.
“‘Why Can’t He Be Our President?’ Justin Trudeau on the cover of Rolling Stone”
Trudeau follows in the footsteps of former U.S. presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama among the world leaders who have previously fronted the venerable pop-culture magazine.”
That doesn’t give the warm and fuzzies for some reason.

  18. took care of some unfinished business last nite around 2 a.m.
called the local lieberal mp and asked they convey the msg to the PMO that monsieur turdeux does NOT speak for me spouting his glowing praise of his finally late ‘uncle’ Fidel. the large part of the voice mail consisted of indicated that fidel was perfectly willing to risk turning huge parts of N America AND Russia into smoldering radioactive ruins for thousands of years in order to gain more power.
and something else stingingly sarcastic I can’t recollect. I had celebrated my Bull Mastiff mix’s birthday and was a bit tipsy on the wine.

  19. Turdeux?
Think I’ll stick with turdo la doo….no caps. la, because it’s the feminine article, and doo because it’s a deservedly childish corruption of deux (2 or 2nd) and doux (soft).

  21. Here in Edmonton we’ve got drivers who use cyclists for target practice.
Yeah, can’t even ride a horse down the street anymore…:-) Anyway, I always slow up for bicyclists, easier to get a bead on ’em…same in school zones. 🙂

  22. I should have expected the Rolling Stone “Trudeau for President” would get the attention of SDA readers. Now, if this happened, I am sure many SDA readers would be pleased to give Shiny Pony a different job and many would be happy to exchange him for our often boorish President. (Sort of an idiot Lend-Lease program.) But as good a neighbor and stalwart ally as Canada is, giving him to us would be an act of war. Picture the Idaho, Minnesota, and North Dakota National Guard leading a couple million heavily armed militia across the border. Admittedly, from a week in Calgary last year, the only signs you would notice would be lots of out of province bumper stickers and guys asking if they can write a check: “What’s a check-you?”

  23. I think Dr Hook did a song called “On the cover of the Rolling Stone…we could make it Trudeau’s anthem.

  24. I’ve been flogging the title “BONGWHISPERER” but it is getting no traction.
Guess I’ll jump on the “potato” bandwagon…..
