Interviewed by a high school newspaper.
An act of journalism, in an age of professional misconduct, by an amateur; story of the millineum so far.

Mercer Island high school is also the Alma mater of Barack Obama’s mother!!
A highly intelligent, well-done interview. The student reporter asked difficult questions in a non-combative style, and Mattis opened up and gave him his full and nuanced view about the issues. Teddy Fischer puts most so-called professional journalism deep in the shade. Notice that there’s not the slightest interest in scandals, and all the rest of the noise. It goes straight to the real issues and problems confronting the US today.
Did they forget the obligatory question about his nickname ? And then spinning the question into FEAR of a reactionary, unhinged, Commander-in-Chief ? THAT is what would pass for a “hard-hitting” “investigative” mainstream media line of questioning. Essentially fabricating an “interview” as a bias-confirmation for all the good little leftists that tune in to the MSM.
Mercer Island is decidedly UPPER Middle Class. Quite an expensive place to live. Small wonder that the local HS interviewer appears far more intelligent than anyone in the mainstream media … he is the spawn of intelligent parents … despite the Seattle metro region being about 87% leftist loonies.
During times of universal deceit…
I expect we will soon hear about this guy getting Seth Rich’d for not toeing the line.
I would ask this:
When you have “finished off” ISIS, what will the next group be called?
Koran Killers Kollective
Bombs R Us
Surprise We’re Back Under A New Name Mecca Wish Foundation
How refreshing to read an interviewer asking actual intelligent questions.
How refreshing to read the Sec. Def’s intelligent answers.
How sad that today’s so called ‘professional’ journalists couldn’t even imagine asking such questions.
Not to mention having it published by their employers without some added ‘left’ spin.
Though journalism, the main stream media, so called intellectuals, and to a certain lesser extent our society in general have devolved to highly partisan ‘gotcha’ games and are absorbed in petty and insignificant coup counting, this young man gives me some glimmer of hope for the future. Not all of today’s students are screaming loons like those kids at Evergreen State (to name one college, of many). And I know it’s not ALL the kids there.
Finally, my respect for Secretary Mattis went up from the already high esteem I held him in.
As an interesting experiment, I’d like to see how a ‘Teddy’ interview with someone like Michael Moore, Obama, or Mayor Deblasio would read.
