Here is my comment yesterday on the Supreme Court Ruling on the Travel Ban… the big bone for lawyers to chew on:
“An American individual or entity that has a bona fide relationship with a particular person seeking to enter the country as a refugee can legitimately claim concrete hardship if that person is excluded,” the court wrote. “As to these individuals and entities, we do not disturb the injunction.”
It’s a bit vague if you ask me. What is “bona fide”? What is an “entity”? What do you mean “American individual”?
The way it is being interpreted by the press is that a citizen (or does this include green card holders as well) of the U.S. can claim hardship if their relative (third or fourth cousin?) is excluded.
To vague for me to get excited about. A big bone for lawyers to gnaw on.. Just go about the business of toughing up the vetting procedures.
And here is Justice Clarance Thomas’ comment today:
“I fear that the Court’s remedy will prove unworkable,” Justice Clarence Thomas wrote. “The compromise also will invite a flood of litigation until this case is finally resolved on the merits, as parties and courts struggle to determine what exactly constitutes a ‘bona fide relationship,’ who precisely has a ‘credible claim’ to that relationship, and whether the claimed relationship was formed ‘simply to avoid §2(c)’ of Executive Order No. 13780.”
I repeat, just toughen up the vetting procedures.

well, the problem I am looking at is bullying. something I was subjected to for far, far too long. most significantly in grade school back in the days of ‘its all parta growin up kid deal wit it’.
bullying. no one intervened, (in fact those officials and authorities who were supposed to act on it and prevent it were in fact among the biggest sources).
did I ever tell you the story about the nazi wannabe in grade 7 that stalked me for 2 weeks intent on beating me up just because he could, taking his cue from previous bullies?
unbeknownst to me, puberty had begun 6 months before my friends, as luck would have it, my adrenal gland got first dybs.
the nazi found out much to the astonishment of all present, especially me, what it was like to walk into a propeller. I beat him up so bad he hung himself 2 days later. no shyt.
so, again, I ask, could it be there is a *perfect* solution to dealing with bullying?
consider killing the bully, and compare with the previous list of properties, ie, instant, always, completely and permanent. can you think of *any* engineering, macroeconomic, etc problem with such an incredibly effective solution? I cant. it’s a grand slam solution.
furthermore, if you kill a bully, they
– stop bullying you (see above)
– stop bullying anyone else
– other bullies see what you did and *they* stop bullying you
– and just maybe other victims see what played out and follow suit to deal with their bullies.
