“While B.C. counts ballots…”

U.S. signs a big LNG deal with China;

For Canada’s nascent West Coast LNG sector, which has been struggling to take off because of slow government decision-making and environmental activism, and which was initially supported by many Chinese companies, it’s another sign energy consumers are moving on to more competitive jurisdictions that actually get stuff done.
It also shows that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who’s been courting China to increase trade to diversify the economy away from the U.S., got outplayed on energy by U.S. President Donald Trump, who had little good to say about China during his campaign but managed to quickly cozy up to its leader and squeeze benefits to reduce America’s massive trade deficit with China.

  1. Yes, the second coming of Trudope screwed us royally on this one. May his reign be as short as possible.

  2. While I’ve never been to a cannibal café I still think our government is unaware how rapidly it is sabotaging our natural resource export markets.

  3. The only Canadian politician that was able to hold his own on the global front has long since departed the political scene. Thanks to all the “Stop Harper” imbeciles Canadians will be forever ‘Hewers of wood and drawers of water! My regret is that for the 30% dyed in the wool conservatives in this country that are stuck on this sinking ship of State, you’ll have to enjoy the decline, although some of us are exploring other options.

  4. The Progressives killed Progress…Energy in B.C. Ironic, eh? I’m betting Petronas and their fellow Asian investors wished they looked further south before throwing so much money against the wall in Western Cannabis.

  5. We’re not even hewers of wood and drawers of water any more with the re-election of Crispy Clarke in B.C. and Shiny Potato in charge of the country. The stupid in this country’s leaders–it burns. Harper’s good intentions landed us exactly where? He was going to be hated whatever he did. He should have rammed it right down their throats. Voters won’t complain when their bellies are full, they’re working and big brother isn’t telling them what to do.

  6. As usual with the Libs and uhhh, Juth-tin, uhhh, its just lip service, when it comes to his position on the pipelines he claims to like, and hydrocarbon resource extraction and the industry, trying to play to both sides.
In reality, in the backrooms, they are doing handstands and cartwheels with the delays, their real objective, led by Gerry Butts and Climate Barbie, is to destroy our HC industry. Any help from bureaucratic delays, enviroloonies and outside help, as AOK with the Libtards

  7. “I still think our government is unaware how rapidly it is sabotaging our natural resource export markets.”
    I’ll bet they’re very aware.

  8. So when does Canada get recognized for our resourcefulness? Have we received the award yet so we can frame it to put next to our social license?

  9. Yep, the Turdo brigade of Gerald (Heinrich Himmler) Butts, Telfraud, climate nazi MacKenna, Juthtin the Dumb etc. etc. are just as excited to shut down Trudopias energy sector as much as Tom Steyer, the Rockefellers and the other globalist foreign billionaires who are paying them to do so… It’s laughable how easily and effortlessly Trudopian “leaders” and environazis are bought off by foreign billionaires

  10. “As shown by the U.S/China deal, things are playing out differently: global energy consumers buy elsewhere, B.C. workers don’t get the jobs, governments don’t get the taxes, Canadian gas producers keep selling their gas at a discount in the U.S.”
Gee,I thought that if B.C. refused to build pipelines and ship oil and LNG overseas, the other Countries would see the error of their ways, and fall in line with green green us!
And,unfortunately, most of the NDP’ers and Greens here actually believe that.
And the little SOB in Ottawa has legalized weed now so I can’t even make a few extra bucks with a grow-op.
    Sigh.

  11. You mean the Chinese don’t respect little potatoes they can walk all over? Say it ain’t so!

  12. Kate,
I went to a cannibal cafe once and ordered the vegetable soup. I had a horrible time digesting the wheelchair, ba-dum-tshh!

  13. You folks have little idea about how bad things are about to get.
The expert panel on modernizing the NEB just released its report today.

Among the choice gems in this one are mandatory aboriginal membership on any review panel and dividing up parts of the NEB into three separate agencies.
What is the likelihood of this being adopted?
Well, just remember, natural resource workers and regions don’t vote Liberal.

  14. WINNING !! with President Trump !!
Sorry Canada … enjoy your decline. Just lay back and enjoy it.

  15. In the war on prosperity, the Spawn, his puppet masters, and their provincial counterparts are good little soldiers marching across the nation winning battle after battle liberating all those mindless bovine masses from the chains of wealth and future prosperity. Cheered on by the walking dead of academia and the media, the green theocracy is ascendant throughout the nation along with the master race governing all things involving resources. Canada, with a population of California’s, the resources of the entire US, and “governed” down to stasis and decline.

  16. I am pretty sure the UN is dictating some of these policies. Ultimately we will be sacrificing a decent economy for an unworkable ideology — global socialism.

  17. The ship on Canada/BC LNG sailed a few years ago. There were several viable projects but the lack of urgency from governmental players drove everyone off. The money was there from investors and financial backers and operators but the will from the BC and Canadian government wasn’t…. now it’s too late. If Trans-Mountain fails, and it very well might, you have to wonder if that’s the beginning of the end of the energy sector in Canada.
Blame Trudeau and the NDP, etc. all you want but the fault lies with Canadians for buying into the fear mongering and electing these guys over and over…

  18. I liked the vegetable soup! I guess the taste varies from person to person.

  19. I wonder… can Saskatchewan leverage uranium somehow? Hillary sold all the US uranium to Russian interests… we still have ours… but nuclear is out of favor with the Lysenko science crowd…

  20. (sigh) It would be convenient if the UN were to blame.
But let’s face it, we’re doing it all to ourselves.
It was Canadians who elected the morons in Ottawa, Ontario, Alberta and BC.
Kevin, more than just out of favour; they think they’ve killed it off.

For anyone knowledgeable, this article has more holes in it than a fishing net.
But that never stops academic types with an agenda.

  22. “U.S. President Donald Trump, who had little good to say about China during his campaign but managed to quickly cozy up to its leader”
Yeah. Donald Trump and Xi Jinping cozy. Yeah. cozy. I am liking this just as soon as I get my shot of heroin. Yeah, cozy.

  23. I’m afraid that you absolutely correct. We keep electing unicorn farters and will pay for it.

  24. For what it is worth. We had a Teen Challenge team of about a dozen out for a talk. Teen Challenge works with alcohol and drug addicts. Every one of the team was a former drug and or alcohol user. The average age of the group was 31, one was 38. Many of them started with pot and graduated to the harder stuff. But don’t tell that to the unicorn fart we have as prime minister.

  25. I’m afraid that you are right. After all, Mo Strong said that we have to deindustrilize, and as you know Maurice is the spiritual father of this AGW fraud.

  26. “It was Canadians who elected the morons in Ottawa, Ontario, Alberta and BC.”
Well said. as was the comment at 7:22 PM. The media is the big culprit in this for constantly shilling for the Liberals and their country killing ideas.

  27. The strategy that current government’s are pursuing and its outcome is likely going to be demonstrated at the next NATO summit.
When the alliance has made it clear and each member makes an effort to step up to the plate on defence spending, if your government declares its intention is other issues, don’t be shocked if the members start asking why Canada is still a voting member of NATO.
It was during WWI under PM Borden that we got to sit with the adults for demonstrated ability on the battlefield. One hundred years is too long to leverage the success at Vimy.
I don’t expect we will be ejected from NATO, but we won’t shouldn’t expect to be invited to the important discussions anymore. The discussion at the next summit will be whether the US or Britain speak on our behalf.

  28. The Liberals are jealous that Trump deals with China, whilst they can only sell Canada off to them bit by bit, no respect, no “deals”.
