    A New York Times spokesperson wrote in an email that the letter was sent to those who canceled citing the new op-ed columnist and opted into receiving messages from The Times. The spokesperson said less than 6 percent of people who canceled their subscriptions to The Times since Stephens’ hire was announced in April cited the hire or the new column as the reason for the cancellation.

  10. When I watch the three ring circus over the firing of Comely it becomes evident there is a very large contingent that has a vested interest in preserving and enhancing the status quo . Similar to the climate scare , no evidence needs to be presented , they only have to say it is so . How do I know there is no evidence ? If they had some ,it would be top story 24/7 on every major media outlet . They are aghast that Trump may have taped his conversations with Comely . Trump is smart enough to cover his ass .

  12. Still watching with great amusement and enjoyment, along with a tinge of alarm as the versimilitudinous Trump melodrama runs its’ sure to be epic course.
    Even more entertaining is watching the Media being disrobed in public, their tiny principles being exposed to all; as understanding comes to the hillbillies from Kentuck to the Beverlies.
    Alas, the schadenfrude is accompanied by the woeful realisation that Canucks are (insert various descriptive epithets here).

    Of all the intelligent people that could have led the Republicans to victory, they chose the one that fell out of the back of the truck head first. There had to be a price to pay for that. Sadly, it may be an all out nuclear war!! But what the hell. In 100,000 years from now, it’ll start all over and maybe the second time we’ll get it right.

  18. Was wondering if it was me, and I’m becoming too old and overly sensitive, but that cop series set in Montreal, 19-2, are they pulling a BBC and attempting to mainstream pedophilia? The entire shows is sort of written as if it were meant to excite teenage boys, simulated sex of every ilk in every PC combination including lesbian fellatio in a public venue. I mean…really? But Season 2, Episode 9 is sort of the pedophilia culmination with the most sympathetic series character receiving the most sympathetic treatment. Interesting and troubling. I’m done with it.

    I was commenting on Trump. Last time I looked he had an approval rating of
    35-41%. The average approval rating of the past 9 presidents in May of their first year in office was 63.3%. JFK was at 75%.
