It’s what brought us to where we are today.
If this strike was arranged to avoid hitting sarin storage facilities, the question arises: did the Obama Administration know that such depots still existed after its “historic” deal that supposedly removed all Syria’s chemical weapons?
The signs point to yes.
More: first photos of Shayrat military airfield, or what’s left of it.
I wonder what Rice and Obama thought of that recent phone call, “Hi Putin its your buddy Trump, you have 5 minutes to get your shit out of Dodge, have a nice night!”
“avoid hitting sarin storage facilities” how about: “Hello Assad next time we will hit your Storage facilities, better make sure they are empty”
Were the explosions heard or felt in Tehran and Pyongyang?
It is interesting that all the Media Clown characters are on the Trump Train & there is a strategy developing.. They have stopped the evil Russian chant (except those that are confused).. They are leaving Putin to the WH team, might be hope for REAL solutions….WA-PO on Trump team?
Last night CNN had a Phd from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.. She was one confused idiot who babbled on about nothing, most likely she advised Obama in his confused ME policy failures. She did not understand simple leadership principles. Harvard must not graduate anybody but Piss-Ants..

“Where the f*uck is Trumps Nobel Peace Prize!!!!”
You need to ask Obamba if he’ll share buddy.
It is now known that although President Trump did not directly notify President Putin of the impending strike against the Syrian airbase, established protocols for notifying Russian military in the region of upcoming operations were activated; President Trump knew that the Russians knew we were going to fire missiles at that airbase, and when we would do it. Since the area is defended with Russian SAM-10 and SAMs of lesser but quite effective capability, yet all 59 missiles apparently reached their targets, it is a reasonable inference that the Russians were ordered to stand down and let the attack take place.

Heh, apparently the Syrians knew as well…this is just theatre.
https://www.yahoo.com/gma/eyewitness-says-syrian-military-anticipated-u-raid-080200931–abc-news-topstories.html
Syrian military officials appeared to anticipate Thursday night’s raid on Syria’s Shayrat air base, evacuating personnel and moving equipment ahead of the strike, according to an eyewitness.
Didn’t Assad gas the people trying to overthrow his regime? Aren’t those people the bad guys who have slaughtered tens of thousands of innocents? I don’t see a problem here. Since we are supposed to be fighting ISIS, Assad is kind of on our side. It’s going to make the next planning conference and “O group” kind of awkward.
If the Russians new, so did the Syrians
This reminds me of something you would expect from the Machine Gun Preacher. That was a good movie.
You mean the execrable Susan Rice lied yet again?
Were the explosions heard or felt in Tehran and Pyongyang?
In the last two installments of The John Batchelor Show, some of the guests speculated that the strike on Syria was also a shot across the bow to Iran and NK. Trump used it as an opportunity to show both Tehran and Pyongyang that they’re no longer dealing with O’Bummer and his wishy-washy ways.
If those pictures were of a once operational air base I would say nothing was flying out of there for years.
“Trump used it as an opportunity to show both Tehran and Pyongyang that they’re no longer dealing with O’Bummer and his wishy-washy ways.”
I believe that’s what I’d call a collateral benefit of this action.
Oh, and add Moscow and Beijing to that list.
Colby Cosh seems to have hit the mark in today’s National Post:
“The cruise missile attack is simple playground justice – maybe ineffectual, maybe cruel, but definitely comprehensible. Rogue state uses airfield to violate sacred international rule: wreck the airfield. And maybe move on.”
Can I still remain skeptical that Assad would launch a gas attack? Since the CIA bought a membership in the Democratic Party and spends a lot of time spying on Republicans does the American military even know what’s going on? I still think there is a possibility the whole show was staged with real or fake gas or maybe bombs hit rebel held gas. Assad has fought a war that has killed 500 thousand people with bullets and explosives. It is only to the rebels advantage to portray Assad as using gas. Gas has never proven to be an effective weapon of war.
Oh, and add Moscow and Beijing to that list.
When Trump ordered the cruise missile strike, the Chinese president, Xi Jingping, just happened to be in the U. S. on an official visit. It’s well known that China has certain ambitions in the western Pacific region, particularly the Spratly Islands, the Scarborough Shoal, and the Senkaku Islands.
By launching the Tomahawks, Trump gave Xi to understand that the Americans mean business and likely won’t not sit idly by as China builds its military-quality runways and “environmental monitoring” stations in those locations. The politburo in Beijing probably didn’t count on that.
“Assad has fought a war that has killed 500 thousand people with bullets and explosives.”
Estimates – and there are only estimates – vary from 130,000 up to 470,000. No one knows for sure. All sides – the Syrian government, the rebels, the various Islamists – have had a hand in that count. It’s a civil war, and civil wars are the worst.
The US military does not solely rely on the CIA for intelligence, far from it. It has its own agency – the Defense Intelligence Agency – as well as IMINT from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and SIGINT from the National Security Agency.
The Department of Defense and the Joint Chiefs are quite capable of coming up with their own intelligence assessments – and they do.
By the way, if anyone here is low on aluminum foil in their household, I suggest you get out to the supermarket right away.
Judging from the conspiracy theorist response to this missile strike, there’s gonna be a shortage of the stuff.

“Trump gave Xi to understand that the Americans mean business….”
That’s what I believe is the most probable reason for the airport attack as well. Trump is going to need to somehow relay that message to his important base supporters or he’s going to lose many of them.
Globally it’s important that Trump is viewed as tough and decisive economically and militarily against aggressor nations of the west. Not a hotheaded imperialist and interventionist in every backwater regional conflict on earth.
What is Syria to 99.99% of Canadians anyway? Canadians get the Muslim refugee fallout to finance, and as our brainless drama teacher promised an excuse to outflow of $842 million tax dollars to a bunch of foreign nobodies.
Sounds like a pretty crappy deal for hard working Canadians to me.
This was little more than a stage play where all the characters played their part. The attempt on Trump’s part was to shut down those who would do him harm, politically and internationally. If it were accepted at face value it shows the Democrats that Trump is no friend of the Russians. It shows Iran and North Korea that Trump has the means to reach out and touch them even in the face of international threats from their supposed allies and it showed China’s leadership that Trump stands up for what he believes in. Finally it has one other effect. It shows the US intelligence operation to be completely incompetent and gadflies like McCain and his fellow travelers to be nothing but warmongers of the most dangerous kind. In fact the only bad thing about this was it cost the American military millions of dollars and the Syrian military a few lives and an airbase. Not a bad days work Mr President.
Release my comment please
There’s another aspect to this.
Trump could not afford to sit idly by after the poison gas attack. It would have been poor public relations both at home and abroad.
If he had done nothing, he would have been seen as another Bill Clinton. After the withdrawal of American forces from Somalia (partly prompted by the “Blackhawk Down” incident), the genocide in Rwanda took place. Clinton sat on his hands because he couldn’t justify sending American military personnel into a country that was of no strategic or economic interest to the U. S. We all know what happened as a result.
Trump needed to do something, to show that incidents such as the use of poison gas in Syria, would not go unnoticed by the U. S. However, it came at a time when there were other situations elsewhere which might involve his country, such as North Korea’s sabre-rattling.
By ordering the strike, it showed that there’s a good chance that the Americans would be prepared to roll up their sleeves and throw a few punches. So far, North Korea hasn’t said peep and Kim might be in hiding. The mullahs in Tehran might be falling all over themselves on what to do next. Xi will go back to Beijing with the clear message that Trump can be a tough guy if he needs to be.
Those cruise missiles said the rest of the world, “America’s back!”
Trumps ordering of the American strike can be paraphrased to the rest of the world.
“Get Off My Lawn!” Clint Eastwood.

“….it shows the Democrats that Trump is no friend of the Russians”
That may be a political points card to have for later, and many agree with your assessment, but nothing will ever change the frothing at the mouth hatred for Trump by the left. They’re mentally ill and inconsolable, I’m sure Trump understands that.
Trumps very well crafted and executed global theatrics was meant to send a variety of messages to the world. Most importantly, that if specific lines are crossed targeting women and children then decisive and swift action will be taken. Insiders claim that Trump’s decision to launch missiles at a Syrian air base was sparked by his daughter Ivanka’s “heartbroken” response to the chemical attack. It’s also notable that Ivanka was in Florida participating in the Chinese visit, where her two oldest children impressed the Chinese leader by singing to him in Mandarin, and not in New York attending JT’s Wimmins Issues party. This clearly signals that JT and Canada are totally irrelevant when it comes to global issues.

“There is no compelling reason for the US to protect foreign civilians by military force.”
Absolutely, or allow them to enter sovereign US/ CAN territory to squat and take advantage of welfare and “free” Universal Health Care, or any other terrorist activities.
No compelling reason whatsoever. That’s why we should stay out of their personal affairs and they in turn stay out of ours.
*Unless of course there is any risk of a foreign country attacking or harming our own Nations, economically or militarily. Then gloves off, Mexico, China & North Korea sit at the top of the current list.
“Your efforts at diversion are as transparent as they are desperate. …”
Funny you should say that.
The sophomoric … Obama/HER/JOHN Ffffff Kerry regime-change (enabling Izzlamic Extremism) ME policy has come home to roost. JOHN Ffffff Kerry declared the HE “peacefully” and “diplomatically” removed ALL chemical weapons of mass-destruction from Syria. That JOHN Ffffff Kerry !! made the world safer by talking, and negotiating with the Assad Admin. … not bombing. JOHN Ffffff Kerry says that HEeeeee is the most brilliant negotiator and was able to “bring Assad to the table”. Of course, Assad played the sophomoric JFK like an out-of-tune fiddle. Mocking Kerry’s self importance. Simply playing Kerry by providing the “appearance” of disposing ALL Syria’s chemical weapons … thousands of pounds of the horrible weapons of war and terrorism. JFfffffK … made US all “appear” safer because of HIS “brilliance”. Sadly … John Ffffff Kerry never grew-up or wised-up past his sophomore year in college.
John Kerry could have destroyed all the Sarin with ONE water Bomber.. Shelf life 5 years if stored in separated Containers (NO MOISTURE).. Not weaponize’d until mixed by the act of delivery (dropping the shell) Water destroys Sarin… So simple and so easy even Hans BLix could do it
The failure to destroy the Special Storage Facilities (No Moisture) was a deliberate oversight of the incompetent
UN inspectors, John Kerry & Susan Rice.. Another false demonstration of nothing….
What about the failure of Trumps targeting lawyers to destroy the runways… He need to send them all packing to an Island in the Pacific (Guam) to practice.. Most of Obama’s bombing raids were dropped in the baron areas of endless sand. nothing hit or damaged…Another false demonstration of nothing
In the second picture there is a hardened hangar with a nice neat hole in the roof. Made by something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8ajJ1EjgkE
I didn’t think that a Tomahawk could do that, though. Curious.
You had me at … Hans Blix !!! Ha ha ha ha ha a ha ha
