“Who stepped on a duck?”
He was funny, before profanity was relied upon by far too many lazy comics
Watch for Rickles as an enlisted crew member in the excellent submarine movie Run Silent, Run Deep.
I expect everyone on SDA will like this video and approve of the school programme wholeheartedly. And it’s in Britain. https://youtu.be/z8zcyJ0Pg7Y
That style of comedy relied on wit and intelligence. Today, they talk dirty, swear, the crowd laughs and they call it funny. Rodney Dangerfield was the king of funny. Don Rickles was up there too.
RIP!!
I loved Don’s comedy. He had some decent acting ability and roles, too.
His delivery was always timing perfect. One of his put downs, my favorite, was when he would dismiss someone with “You hockey puck.”
Rickels was in ‘Get Smart'(guest appearances) and he had a role in the successful film ‘Dirty Dozen’.(I may be remembering that wrong)

“The Globe and Mail has confirmed the authenticity of these e-mails.”
Ha! The Globe did not mention that””The two journalists who received the leaked Irving letters, which outlined the company’s objections, have since been hired by the Liberal government.”
Irving Brunswick News(own 90% of media in NB)has the same story except they somehow left out the Irving, Liberal and journalist hire points. No links due to paywall and New Brunswick’s North Korean climate.
CBC is the best option for news in Fake New Brunswick.
Whistleblowing in Canada is for dummies. Canadians don’t deserve it.
Ontario The Dumb. Wynne and her gang of incompetents are bombarding the sir waves with ads telling us how they have heard the voters and are taking action on the cost of hydro. Problem here is they were deaf and totally out of touch until they started sinking in the polls, then the magic happened, hearing restored. They could feel the hunger pangs of those who had to eat or pay hydro bills.

Hunting hibernating bears? Isn’t that like making hunting of 6 foot tall rabbits illegal? While I can appreciate the inhumanity of shooting sleeping bears, how the hell do you find a hibernating bear?
Rickles was ok.

meanwhile, the Quislings – er, some public-spirited progressives – in Sweden have launched a Kickstarter funding plea to raise cash to compile a book of photographs that show the “True” Sweden, the multi-culti paradise that is all sweetness and light and mutual tolerance. They plan to send one of the first copies to President Trump. Of course, don’t expect any of these delusional idiots to actually take any photos in the many no-go areas in Sweden, as that might not quite fit the narrative they are selling.
Easy mistake to make when trying to remember movies older than most voters. Telly Savalas was in both movies.
Harassing hibernating bears is illegal in most Canadian jurisdictions. Perhaps in all of them.

I was hoping the video would show me something about Don Rickles’ humor that I had previously missed, but I quit watching shortly after he started prancing & singing “singing in the rain”. I didn’t find anything he said to be at all amusing, so I assume he was saving the funny stuff for later. Sorry, not my style of humor.
I liked Red Skelton and Bob Hope, though.
Well, Lynn Beyak has been removed from the Senate committee for indigenous people because of her remarks about SOME people involved in the residential schools had good intentions. She sees this as an infringement on free speech (it is) and comments:”Political correctness is stifling opinion and thoughtful discussion that we must be allowed to have if we are to truly improve our great country.” She also states “Too often on a broad range of issues, a vocal minority cries foul and offence whenever a point of view is raised that does not align with their own.” (Ain’t that the truth!) At the same time an NDP member is calling for her removal from the Senate, stating: “Any person that celebrates genocide, because this was genocide, has no place either in Parliament or the Senate.” What craziness. It is true, we cannot have a balanced discussion in this country about many, many controversial issues. The attacks on Beyak are outrageous. Such a shame.

Also, he is asking rich city dwellers to play a role in helping poorer neighbors. I think this is a terrific idea. Many years ago there was an Ottawa phone in about homelessness and poverty. There were tons of suggestions about what government could/should do. I was struck by how no one suggested that people in the community could play a helpful role. They are not the whole solution . . . but community involvement in solving community problems can be a big help and it helps avoid government overreach. I am sure the NDP would never think of this. In fact, they would probably oppose it.
Maybe Harper didn’t get it right but having thcott brison on the file will add cred to the outcome. What was it, not enough money to go around?
Military procurement and ship building in Canada has to be the most convoluted expensive corrupt process of any country in the free world. Maybe some 3rd world despot can top us on the corruption scale but once the government changed the Irving machine ramped up and got to the librano east coast cabinet ministers. Think there’s not a scandal here?
Bongo’s team is working overtime trying to keep a lid on this. Cab ministers are ducking.
In the Canadian tradition probably nothing will come of this but military guys who could go down over this might just have the chops to talk or leak documents they have. No doubt threats are being made.
Indeed it is a shame. On the one hand the PC crowd remonstrates with vituperation whenever anyone paints all Muslims with the same brush after yet one more imbecilic act of carnage in the name of Allah yet completely contradicts itself when a Conservative applies the same sentiment to residential school employees. These are sick, sick people.
Bears breathe don’t they? What happens when you exhale in the winter? It’s really not that hard.
Where I live and work there are lots of people who went to residential schools. Most of them consider it was an overall positive experience that gave them the necessary life skills to succeed in aboriginal leadership, self government, and Canadian business and society.
If the government came to a community and told people that they could get more ‘free’ money if they told horrible stories about residential school, then what sort of stories do you think they would tell? Foolish do-gooders are so easily deceived. People who go looking for ‘negativity’ and immerse themselves in it will of course have biased viewpoints and unable to view the world objectively.

Yes, Kelly’s Heroes. He was the shady guy who figured out what the gold was worth.
Great movie, based on a true story.
While it lasted only 2 seasons, I loved him in CPO Sharkey. His visits to the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson were always a delight. I will miss him.
“Talking to your dog is a sign of intelligence” – whose, yours or the dogs? I would say the dogs, but only if he answers back.
Thank you Robert and Deplorable Me. I had Mr. Rickels confused with Telle Savalas in Dirty Dozen.
