Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Leftards use studies.
Scientists use experiments.
Given that it is often unethical to perform experiments on people, some questions just cannot be answered objectively.
Maybe they’re only talking about journalist non lactating breast feeding
I’m going to continue to do it anyway.

I thought the main benefits were immunological and psychological, not cognitive.
You’re a funny guy.
Love the header link line!
The preamble of this report from Fake
Mews CNN says it all: “Breast feeding is a big commitment.”
Can’t have progressives and millennials making a commitment now can we.
So it doesn’t necessarily make kids smarter, it`s what ma nature intended and why mothers generally lactate after giving birth. Logically, it is a whole lot cheaper than specialized cow-in-a-can and a lot more nurturing for both. No heating required and comes in handy reusable fun containers.
To put another spin on this, the slight edge breast fed kidlets had three was gone by age five. Isn`t three when they are all farmed out to daycare.
So a certain “journalist” was conducting a study?
Breastfeeding will be promoted as very advantageous again…. once the left develops government teats.
Was Leah McLaren a participant in this study? Just checkin’.
These are the types of statistically questionable science that I think of as “nudge and nag” studies. It’s where science and policy makers decide what behavior they want to promote, they produce studies to support their conclusion and then incessantly tell you what you must do. Basically, they’re the annoying mother in law branch of science. You can safely ignore their unsolicited advice.
Why does it always appear to me that “studies” tend to follow and “substantiate” the dominant “attitudes” of the day. In this case, we are living in the selfie-era of LOOK at ME! ME ME MEeeee! Don’t I look HOT (or not?). Women are sexually FREE and appear to be fixated on maintaining their sexual PRIME for as long as possible. And saggy, breastfed boobs don’t improve their “package”. Women routinely schedule voluntary C-sections so as not to require vaginoplasty to re-tighten-up shop. So … women’s desire for extending their sex appeal … trumps intimacy with their own child. What’s the best way to SHUT UP the critics of their selfishness ? Have a “study” that gives them “permission” to ditch their baby into the bassinet with a bottle.
Or…how about we give new mom’s a break and realize this is their decision and they don’t need to justify it to anyone. The roller-coaster of pregnancy, hormones, exhaustion and feeling insecure about being responsible for a strange little creature is quite enough to deal with, there’s no need to add unnecessary stress. Reassure them that if breastfeeding isn’t working out the baby will be fine on formula. Encourage them to get enough sleep and that may mean giving the baby formula at nighttime because it is digested more slowly. Remind them that they’ll get lots of advice and much of it is BS. They’re competent enough to sort this out for themselves.
This is untrue for men over 40.
I’m with you Fred
I was raised on Carnation evaporated milk, they mixed corn syrup and something else with it. My mother feared that diseases such as polio were present in the milk. Canned milk was heated to a higher temperature than pasteurized bottled milk before the tin was sealed.
Later on in life the doctor asked if I was breast fed or bottle fed, as if I’d remember. .
So I told him I had no mammeries during the first year of my life.
I breast fed just the other night and I thought it did wonders for my mental state.
Nursing your baby is a god send when he or she is sick, having earaches and teeth coming in. Incredibly practical when traveling.
No problem with saggy breasts, I think that comes from pictures from National Geographic!
Saggy breasts can be firmed up by having more sex. I tell my wife that but it’s not working.
From CNN.
I’ll stick to reading goat bones thanks.
More reliable…… or is that less biased?
There is some advantage during the first 72 hours, as that is when colostrum is transferred. There’s nothing wrong with breastfeeding, but other “studies” caused what I would term a breastfeeding hysteria with resulting boob Nazis terrorizing women into ONLY breastfeeding (for some this is not a good option: autoimmune issues, sickness, or just plain poor lactation or poor nursing from the infant — of the last stress, in both the mother and the infant, like being hounded by boob Nazis, can be implicated).
When in doubt — just make sure the kid is fed; there really is no rocket science to this. As long as the kid’s getting well fed, all is right with the world.
And women’s boobs will change in looks whether they breastfeed or not — get preggers, your boobs change; get old, yer boobs change. Same goes for your plumbing. Nobody lives forever; bodies change sweethearts.
If your marriage is a strong one you don’t have to worry about it.
Signed, mother of 5 who got both milk bars, still happily married as an old fart (he’s an old fart too now so it works out — equality! unity!)
100% correct and right-on. I didn’t mean to imply that breastfeeding isn’t completely up to the woman. And I DO know that some women have difficulty breastfeeding for a number of physiological reasons … none of which derive from selfishness. My opinion is that NATURE (God) designed a rather elegant method of nourishing helpless mammals whose biological complexity demands a period of growth and maturation. As a result, nurturing and feeding is necessary. That same nurturing can be executed with a bottle (hopefully, without too much sugar-added).
However … the boob-feeding WARRIORS are tiresome and loathsome. NOBODY ever hassles a woman who discretely feeds her child in “public”. However, those women who want to put on a shit-show of mammalian feeding for ALL to see … is just annoying. I wish THOSE women would use a bottle.
CNN? Fake news on air, fake tits on camera…?
Small breasts can be enlarged by vigorous use for 2 or 3 years.
I told the OL that. She didn’t like it but submitted.
She is pleased with the results these days.
