Hours of fun in this!

The U.S. conducted 210 atmospheric nuclear tests between 1945 and 1962, with multiple cameras capturing each event at around 2,400 frames per second. These are the declassified films of tests conducted by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

  1. This study suggests that the cause of the stagnation in global warming in the mid 20th century was the atmospheric nuclear explosions detonated between 1945 and 1980. The estimated Global Surface Temperature drop due to fine dust from the actual atmospheric nuclear explosions based on the published simulation results by other researchers… has served to explain the stagnation in global warming. Atmospheric nuclear explosions can be regarded as full-scale in situ tests for nuclear winter. The non-negligible amount of GST drop from the actual atmospheric explosions suggests that nuclear winter is not just a theory but has actually occurred, albeit on a small scale.

  2. Not very compelling. There is a big drop in temperature before significant testing. It just bounces around after that any goes sideways. Correlation is not causation and it doesn’t even look well correlated ?

  3. WE need another test Island for data correlations … Hawaii could use an attitude adjustment…Move all the Navy out first & issue a tourist alert.. Of course only Blue states go there

  4. Correlation is not causation
Yeah so, do you think that’s why they used the word “suggests” rather than proves?
What’s your theory for the post-war stagnation of warming?

  5. Re: Nuclear testing.
I once saw a report where the Kodak Crop. was having problems with certain types of photo development. My aunt worked in an industrial photo lab, , and had found the papers in a stock room at their lab in Montreal. And please note this was a technical production with no political connections. The special paper Kodak was using to make the photographs was made from corn stalks and husks from the Midwest USA. They found the problem with the paper derived from high levels of nuclear fallout in that area that in turn affected the quality of the photographic paper. And we baby boomers were eating corn flakes that were milled from the same corn.
This is a similar story I found online.

  6. Once again, I had my comments held back by a Blog Adminstrator. I was writing a short comment about my aunt who worked in an industrial photo lab in Montreal during the cold war, and where they were having problems with radioactive emissions in developing the photos. The cause?? Nuclear fallout on the corn that was used to make industrial photo paper. Hardly an ”immoral” or offensive topic.
I have no quarrels whatsoever with having someone screen comments on a blog site, however why are they not being released? I quit commenting on CBC.Ca because our comments were being deleted. Now this??
In any event, The corn was grown in the USA in the Midwest, and also used to make popular cereals that we consumed here in Canada. Maybe that would account for the high levels of cancer we baby boomers have today. I found this article that reiterates what a lab in Montreal knew decades ago.

  7. The temperature drops from +0.2 to -0.2 from ~1942 to 1950. 8 US nukes went splodey in this time. Two were not tests but the real thing. Two others were underwater tests – not much dust from those. Then in the 50s the US detonated more than that in each year, every year . . . but the temperature trend hardly drops at all ? I don’t need a competing theory to say that it “seems” unconvincing.
It could just be the weather, it was cooler five or six years out of seven, it doesn’t even need a reason, it’s chaotic.

  8. Kate has already explained to you how the filer works the other day and why comments are withheld. I am certain nothing changed since then.

In a new paper published by the Russian Academy of Sciences, seven senior scientists analysed the monthly average and annual average data of charged particle fluxes in the lower atmosphere, concluding that “a rise in the charged particle flux in the lower atmosphere in the next few years” would lead to “a decrease in the global temperature of the near-surface air layer.”

This is further proof that Trump is Putin’s puppet. Clearly, the Russians hacked and tampered NOAA’s climate databases, thereby ensuring that Trump would steal the presidential election from HRC.
    IMPEACH TRUMP NOW!
    (sarcasm = off)

  11. And please Colonialista, do explain to me how a ”filer” works?? Does it work like a spell check program where errors are spotted immediately however sometimes a similar word slips by the writer without being noticed?? (Ex: ”Filer” or ”Filter??”) I’m sure that in the past, Kate has explained that as well.

  12. Dr Openheimers dirty little secret, “I am become death, the destroyer of worlds.”
Beautiful yet terrifying. Seems contradictory to say that dust caused a “winter”, all I see is heat.
Every nuclear dust particle would still be emitting heat for millennia.
    But what do I know.

Ok fine, keep throwing a temper tantrum and remain convinced that you are unjustly censored. Good luck with that.

Editor’s note — the word “censored” is in the spam filter, and that’s why you comment was held up. It’s there because trolls so often throw tantrums when they’re censored…

  15. Some idiot leader- Clue, North Korea, Pakistani, India, Iran, will fire an atomic weapon.
With an 8 billion world population it is mother natures way to thin the herd.

  16. I was invited to visit the Nevada nuclear test site back in the 1980s with a group of scientists who studied downhole (or borehole) geophysics. All but 2 of the detonations were underground. They placed white picket fences around the area of the explosion in case the surface collapsed (as a warning to stay away). In the center of the picket fence was a very thick electrical cable that used to connect their sensors close to the detonation point. The sensors recorded only for a few microseconds before being destroyed in the blast.
Of the only two non-underground explosions, both were to test atomic bombs as a method for excavating large amounts of material such as expanding the Panama Canal. The craters were about the size of a city block. You may be able to see them on Google Earth.
As I recall they chose Nevada because the water table is very deep – a few thousand feet or more. There was no chance of contaminating the water table.

  19. Just shrug it man. I’ve created posts that contained hours of web research that just went poof and complained to no result. Some of them were in response to dickheads like North of 60 who charged me with having no basis for a fact that I’ve stated.
    Suck it up, I do.
This is Kate’s house and I am a guest. I know its hard sometimes.
Kate and her admins have other life demands to attend to, understandably. They are dynamic and creative people with many talents and fingers in many pies.
I know that I personally have taken it hard in the past and acted childishly to losing my carefully crafted comment.
For that behaviour, I apologize to our generous host Kate and her trusted admins.
Thank you Kate, your blog ROCKS!

“Some others would lose everything: Trump proposes to eliminate money for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the national endowments for arts and humanities and more than a dozen other independent agencies financed by the government.”
    “WINNERS
—The Pentagon. Trump proposes a 10 per cent increase in the massive defence budget, adding $52 billion in military spending in one year top expand personnel, equipment and capability. Another $2 billion would go to nuclear weapons.
—Veterans Affairs. Up 5.9 per cent. That’s an additional $4.4 billion, driven by ever-growing health care costs.
—Homeland Security. Up 6.8 per cent. That’s $2.8 billion more. Most of the increase, $2.6 billion, would be to help kick-start Trump’s promised border wall. The president has repeatedly said Mexico would pay for the wall; Mexican officials are adamant that they won’t.
Trump also wants an extra $1.5 billion for more immigration jails and deportations, and $314 million to hire 1,500 immigration enforcement and border patrol agents.
—The National Nuclear Security Administration, which oversees the maintenance and safety of the nuclear arsenal and its research labs. The agency would grow by 11.3 per cent, or $1.4 billion, so that it takes up more than half the Energy Department’s budget, which would shrink overall.”

    http://johnhelmer.net/victim-or-aggressor-chrystia-freelands-family-record-for-nazi-war-profiteering-and-murder-of-the-cracow-jews/
“Chrystia Freeland (lead image), appointed last week to be the new Canadian Foreign Minister, claims that her maternal family were the Ukrainian victims of Russian persecution, who fled their home in 1939, after Adolf Hitler and Josef Stalin agreed on a non-aggression pact and the division of Poland between Germany and the Soviet Union.
She claims her mother was born in a camp for refugees before finding safe haven in Alberta, Canada. Freeland is lying.
The records now being opened by the Polish government in Warsaw reveal that Freeland’s maternal grandfather Michael (Mikhailo) Chomiak was a Nazi collaborator from the beginning to the end of the war.
He was given a powerful post, money, home and car by the German Army in Cracow, then the capital of the German administration of the Galician region. His principal job was editor in chief and publisher of a newspaper the Nazis created. His printing plant and other assets had been stolen from a Jewish newspaper publisher, who was then sent to die in the Belzec concentration camp. During the German Army’s winning phase of the war, Chomiak celebrated in print the Wehrmacht’s “success” at killing thousands of US Army troops. As the German Army was forced into retreat by the Soviet counter-offensive, Chomiak was taken by the Germans to Vienna, where he continued to publish his Nazi propaganda, at the same time informing for the Germans on other Ukrainians. They included fellow Galician Stepan Bandera, whose racism against Russians Freeland has celebrated in print, and whom the current regime in Kiev has turned into a national hero.”
