  2. The CBC National on 16 Feb is a perfect example of their cherry-picking and editorializing events and comments to fit the Liberal agenda. Those who viewed Trump’s news conference on u-tube could see it was mostly about listing the accomplishments of his administration so far, and lambasting the media for leaking confidential information and presenting biased one-sided reporting of events. As the CBC reported, it was about how ‘chaotic’ Trump’s government was, and that Donald Trump talked about blowing a Russian Spy ship out of the water. Trump’s actual comment was the media would love it if he blew the Russian Spy ship out of the water, but he wouldn’t do that because he wanted a cooperative relationship with Russia to deal with common enemies like ISIS. Not quite the same as CBC’s version for public broadcast on their national News. It was ironic that CBC perfectly illustrated Trump’s focus on biased news media.
    The ‘reporting’ on M-103 was another scene in the CBC’s ongoing Moslem Victim play. The focus of this ‘news bit’ was all the hateful remarks the MP had reportedly received because she is a Moslem, and how that somehow proved that ‘islamophobia’ was ‘real’.
    However, anyone who has been following M-103 on blogs knows that the vast majority of comments called for removing all references to any specific religion/ideology, and that change would make the motion acceptable to almost everyone. The Opposition presented that to the MP and the MP rejected it because as far as she was concerned it was all about ‘islamophobia’. The CBC cleverly failed to report any of that.

    Weeks after the House Minority leader blasted President Donald Trump for pledging to investigate voter fraud, a federal appellate court has ruled that a Peruvian immigrant can be deported from the U.S. for illegally voting in a federal election. The decision comes on the heels of a spat between Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi and the president. The California Democrat accused Trump of making false claims of election fraud and said that undermining the integrity of our voting system is “really strange.” Most Democrats in Congress agree with the former House Speaker and strongly oppose an investigation, asserting it will limit access to voting.
    Not surprisingly, the overwhelming majority of the mainstream media coverage promotes the Democrats’ inaccurate version of the facts. One news network referred to Trump’s voter fraud claims as “baseless” and simply an excuse to enact restrictive voting laws. Another wrote that “Trump’s ‘iIlegals voting’ comments are false and divisive,” calling voter fraud by undocumented immigrants “patently false.” In an editorial titled “The Latest Voter Fraud Lie,” a mainstream newspaper writes that the “baseless claims continue to get converted into policy in the form of stricter voting laws like requiring prospective voters to show a photo ID…” A multitude of similar media reports have flooded the news wires in the week’s following Trump’s meeting with congressional leaders to address the issue.
    This week’s appellate court ruling provides a jolt of reality that the media has chosen to ignore. Election fraud was a significant concern in 2008 and 2010, which is why Judicial Watch launched an election integrity project in 2012. The project is a legal campaign to force cleanup of voter registration rolls as well as monitor elections. As an example of the pervasive fraud, Judicial Watch uncovered that 1,046 aliens, or residents who are not U.S. citizens, were on the voter rolls in eight Virginia counites leading up to the 2016 presidential election. If that rate of non-citizen registration held in the rest of Virginia’s counties, that would mean that about 6,500 non-citizens are registered to vote in the state. Additionally, Judicial Watch’s investigation found that 57,923 Virginians were registered to vote in at least one other state as well as 19 deceased individuals. Similar issues have been uncovered in several other states as part of Judicial Watch’s ongoing probe into election fraud.

  20. Entertaining link, Kate. To me, it is also a great reminder of the complexities of speech and why phoning and texting will never match face-to-face for accurate interpretation of a message. To that point, would be curious to see if any studies have examined if/how facial expressions during video connections differ from live interactions.
    Speaking of the human condition, here is one I remember finding in our family World Book Encyclopedias. I could find no explanation as to why the blind spots of leftards are so immense compared to the rest of us, though.

  21. It bothers me that this story has been dropped. They have succeeded in putting forward the Islamaohobia narrative, but it may not be that at all. But that us the narrative that fits the Liberal political agenda, so we may not hear about this again. Maybe the Post can get Blatchford to cover his trial — assuming he will actually have a trial. I am thinking they will find a reason not to hold a public trial.

    Exactly! CBC is the most extreme example of fake news, or as you suggest, biased news here in Canada. CTV and Global are just as bad, and in the US, MSNBC, CNN, and to a lesser degree the other networks are the also the same. On FoxNews the opinion shows such as Hannity and Carlson show their conservative bias openly, Shepard Smith is a liberal, while the “news” hours are generally fairly objective.
    In the early 90s one of the history discipline courses I took at Athabaska University, which offers distance education, was propaganda and CBC and CNN perfectly fit the models that were presented as evidence. The course showed how the media and government through the media presented information or misinformation to reflect a bias. And yes, much of it is “fake news”.

  24. Well, that’s it. I finally cancelled my Winnipeg Free Press subscription today. After years of groaning while reading through SJW/left wing filtered news, I just couldn’t take it any more. Between Jen Zoratti and Melissa Martin’s non-stop hate-on for men and white people, Mia Rabson’s rabid anti-conservative vitriolic rants, and the non-stop filtering of news stories to take anti-Trump stances and glowing homages to our sub-standard IQ PM, I had to cut the ties.
    Shortly before he left the Freep to join the CBC, I had a twitter debate with Bart Kives who insisted that there was no bias whatsoever in the Canadian media. I guess a fish swimming in the sea doesn’t know it’s wet.

    I have been complaining over the years about peter mans bridge manipulating the news.
    For the first time my husband agreed with me after watching Peter Mansbridge last evening.
    My husband said,” When is peter mansbridge retiring?” ” He just cherry picked statements out of Trumps news conference to make Trump look like a liar!!!! ”

    You and your husband discovered CBC’s very liberal bias. Better late than never. I realized their liberal bias and anti-conservative propaganda already in the 1980s when after a session of the Saskatchewan Rural Municipal convention the CBC totally distorted on their evening news broadcast a resolution on crime that was unanimously passed.
    CBC should be dismantled or privatized.

  38. So-called ‘hate mail’ is a serious offense in Canada as documented in the Criminal Code. No additional studies or additional laws are required to prosecute this offense. This ‘hate mail’ claim does not support any need for this MP’s ‘Islamophobia’ motion. The alleged 50,000 examples of hate mail should be turned over to the proper authorities for investigation.
    False accusation is also a serious offense. Therefore if this MP is not forthcoming and fully cooperative in assisting authorities with determining the authenticity of her so-called ‘hate mail’ then her motives should be questioned and investigated. Canadian justice is supposed to be impartial.

  39. Funny you mentioned door to door mail. My daughter just phoned me to thank me for the Valentine’s day gift from Calgary. She was away for a week. I could hear traffic in the background. When I asked where she was picking up her mail, she replied, ”At the mail boxes two blocks from the house.” Door to door has NOT been restored by the almighty Liberals.

  40. A big problem with this bill is of course, the ambiguity. So if a crime happens and Syrians, for example, are the perpetrators, is it ok to mention that? It is already the case that criminal behaviour by refugees is suppressed in Canada (not totally, as it is sometimes possible to pick thigs up via a local story). But my main question is, is it ok to mention Muslims in conjunction with a crime committed here or elsewhere? Will access to some websites that talk about Islam be banned? I think Liberals are going down the wrong path with this one.
    PS — Anyone who has not yet read Catostophic Failure should do so. It shows how an abnti-Islamaphobia culture in the the US government resulted in bizarre failier to acknowledge patterns in criminal behaviour and terrorism. It was a deliberate effort to obscure the role of Islam in terrorism crimes.
