Bye, bye citizen Obama.
As many of you know, I wasn’t a Trump fan. I didn’t believe he could defeat Clinton. I had great doubts. I lacked understanding. I still have concerns about his presidency, primarily because I am a western Canadian. I am a believer in trade and I think some of the promises that President Trump has made will impact my region and my country. C’est la vie. Mea culpa to those who knew better, I didn’t.
Having said all that, were I an American citizen, had I a vote, I would have crawled over broken glass, volunteered to clip the wire at the Somme, been on Utah on the 6th of June to vote against Hillary Clinton.
I would have voted Trump.
She who lied over the caskets of fallen diplomats. She who instigated the entire Libyan folly. She of the “Russian reset”. She with such disregard and disrespect of American, Canadian, and the other ‘Five Eyes’ confidentiality that she decided it was okay to send it in the clear. That beast had to be kept from the Presidency. Regardless of what happens, regardless of my doubts, regardless of the whiny D’s in the States, this is the best day this year.
She had to lose and I am grateful to the American people who, with their vote, with their franchise, are always right and in my opinion, made the correct choice.
I’m happy for you. Drink ALL THE BEER because I am.
*Note, posting after this will be light to non-existent from me today, mainly because I’m drinking all the beer….Happy Inauguration Day!

I’m almost as happy as when I saw Florida was going Trump. What a night that was. God bless America!
Well said Lance.
Some of Trumps promises made may well hurt Canada to some degree, but look at this way. A ruined or Marxist USA, and that is the way it was going, would be much worse.
Not too many beers now, eh. 😉
LIVE: The 58th Presidential Inauguration of Donald J. Trump 2017 | NBC News

welcome aboard the Trump Train!
it’s gonna be great…!
A Great Read, Lance. Thanks. You made my day, and I wholeheartedly agree with all you said. Today, I wish I was American, too. God Bless America.
Couldn’t say it any better, Lance. I worry about Trump – I was terrified of Hillary.
From today’s readings
Mark 3:13-15
13 He now went up onto the mountain and summoned those he wanted. So they came to him
14 and he appointed twelve; they were to be his companions and to be sent out to proclaim the message,
15 with power to drive out devils.
Godspeed Donald J Trump, you shall surely need it.
Cheers

As Dr. Savage says, “I will be happy to get 10% of what I wanted under Trump than have Hillary Clinton as President all the live-long day”.
Very well put, indeed. Thanks from the yanks.
I have a small business friend in Florida, and a Medical Professional in California come out of the Trump closet after the election.. Very happy for them today. They should be proud.
It is SO gratifying to witness Obama’s very first second of NOT being the POTUS. 😀 :D: 😀
Yeah, I am in the same camp. Wasn’t a Trump fan, but grew to appreciate him as his appointment process happened with high-quality candidates.
But I do gov’t email for a living. I know what laws were broken, what was at stake. Worse yet, for it, it’s not the email, it was the pay-for-play. Or as we commonly call it, extortion. Which she tried to cover up with her email server, and why she deleted 33,000 emails.
This speech is pretty based. The guy is killing it.
“Destroy radical Islam.”
Just that made this speech epic. ITS. ABOUT. FREAKING. TIME.
Well said Lance. Thanks.
I have no religious feelings, but pray he will be the catalyst for a new generation of openness and debate that has been stifled under the UN, IPCC, liberals, idiot egotistical “I know everything” university profs, scientists and politicians everywhere.
Bust some heads and hard-held beliefs Donald.
Justine. Pay attention. Rachel. Pay attention.
CAS
Happy Inauguration Day!
He absolutely killed it !

I am drinking a selection of the finest Russian vodkas that I could find locally !! Das beh Trumpia !!
Finally ! THE PEOPLE are in-charge again … as our Founders designed it
PS … what the hell happened to the “separation of church and state” ? I haven’t heard so many bible verses since I was last in Church …
The analogy I heard that best seemed to encapsulate the thinking process of those who were nervous about Trump, but were loath to support Hillary was the idea that US citizens were forced to play a game of Russian Roulette. They had a choice of two pistols, each with exactly one round loaded. Trump was the revolver. Hillary was a semi automatic.
Take that all celebrities and various and sundry media twits. Too, lets include those “stars” who refused to perform at the Trump ceremonies….there are plenty of ordinary citizens who can do as good a job.
Something Canadians need to heed as well, the USA is not ashamed to speak of God and the Christian tenets that built that country. Very impressive.
Wake up Canada…if it’s not too late, you don’t have to sell your soul to accommodate and welcome those who wish to live in our countries.
The grown-ups are in charge in Washington once again, the mental toddlers on the left have lost what little was left of their minds. Life is good – and I mean that in a Conan way.
The return of common sense, equality and patriotism. Congratulations America.
Van Jones – “America is leaving the world today”.
Good grief, shut up you racist twit.
@LizJ also…
Yes, the Constitution mandates that the State establish no official religion; it doesn’t however mandate the banishment of religion from the public square much to the consternation of raving secularists.
The Constitution would prefer the voters and leaders have a conscience rather than it being absent.
I did however appreciate President Trump calling out the establishment on enriching themselves at the expense of ordinary Americans. All their DC Capitol Hill victories have left the ordinary Americans next to penury. They may not have liked the message but after racking up; Obama Leaves U.S.A $9,335,000,000,000 Deeper in Debt. And GW Bush was according to the Obama-Nationâ„¢ ‘unpatriotic’ for racking up $4.5 Trillion
Realistically, that is going to take a couple of generations to overcome.
Overall, his speech was strikingly on point.

“Politics is the art of the possible, the attainable – the art of the next best.”
Otto Von Bismark
I agree Kate Hillary Clinton was more evil than anything I have ever seen a bigger liar than her husband.
POTUS Trump has his work cut out for him, he appealed for donations last June and within 3 months had broken all records for donations, ever from ordinary people.
I felt then that he had a good chance, the media had attacked anyone that Obama was scared off.
Starting with Pailin continuing with Romney the attacks were relentless.
God Bless America!
America has had a quisling and a pack of treacherous rats destroying and the media pretended it was all OK, the “ferguson effect” is real and ordinary people have suffered under this racist Obama.
Time to drain the swamp.
WALL WALL WALL WALL WALL WALL WALL
For the first time in 8 years I’m finally PROUD OF AMERICA!
Excellent speech! Best moment of the morning? Did anyone catch the expression on Michelle Obama’as face about 3 seconds after Trump shook BHO’s hand? The unbridled, seething hatred in the look spoke volumes.
Well Michelle is probably angry that she is losing her job to an immigrant. And for the first time in history a billionaire is moving into public housing vacated by a black man.
Obama can’t catch a break, first he’s among all these good people for government, then he heads to Palm Springs where he’ll be surrounded by actually good golfers.
Maybe he should just hang out at a gay club, maybe he’s good at that.
Van Jones commenting that mention of the mainstream media was notably absent in Trump’s speech.
What an ego on this bunch, eh? No one is talking about THEM. But why would it matter, racist? There is no other greater indicator demonstrating how utterly irrelevant the mainstream media has become. 🙂
Thank you, Lance. My vote for Donald Trump was truly a vote against Hillary Clinton, as yours would have been. I hope and pray now that President Trump delivers what he has promised. It will be good for all of us.
Bill busted checking out Melania. Look at the look on Hillary’s face LOLOLOLOLOL

When I started reading this blog, I was Ontarian, now I reside in the United States.
I find it truly bizarre to see Trump as the president, the way he speaks, the way he acts like an entertainer. I was in favour of Cruz. Second choice Rubio. Others I found appealing, except for Bush, the last thing in the world I wanted was another Bush. I was worried that Trump might be the only candidate who could not beat Hilary, based on the polling I was seeing and the visceral loathing, mistrust, hatred, and fear some have for Trump, not just on the Democrat side but also amongst some conservatives (eg Krauthammer, Will, Goldberg). I consider this outlandish and irrational, which is why I now like to read Scott Adams (Dilbert) blog to understand why people are behaving the way they are.
During the campaign I was unsure Trump could be trusted, since he was a Democrat for much of his life. But once he became the nominee I wanted him to beat Hilary at all costs, with my reservations that I was worried he may turn out to be a Democrat. However, now I am so happy that he won, and in fact I have come to the opinion, having seen his appointments and his plans following inauguration, whether it’s Obamacare repeal, tax cuts, deregulation, school choice, immigration, his handling of the media, his generally anti-socialist pro-capitalist outlook, I have come to the opinion he may be a great president. It is understandable that some in other countries are wary of his potentially protectionist agenda, but let’s face it, much of what he says is true, China really does manipulate (undervalue) their currency with the intention of creating an import/export trade imbalance intended to goose jobs and economic expansion in China. This benefits Chinese workers and American consumers at the expense of Chinese consumers and American workers. So there is nothing wrong with wanting to end such imbalances. There really is such a thing as “unfair” trade.
Anyway, good times.
A revolver is a semi-auto in how it works.
My sentiment exactly Lance. I didn’t think Trump would win but I felt neither candidate was worthy.
Having said that it is now up to Trump. He holds the office and should be given his chance.
I hold grave concerns as the US heads down the protectionist road. They have a history of this and it could be bad for Canada. Hope I’m wrong.
My only regret at this.moment is that I’ve got too much to do today to have a celebratory drink in the morning. It will be nice for grown ups to finally take over and let the draining of the swamp begin.
Just to clarify, Hans … I LOVED hearing the return of Faith and God to our national inauguration service. Just like our founders ! It was all music to my ears. I don’t believe the US Constitution says anything remotely close to “separation of church and state”. Today … step ONE on the road to MAGA
Power to the PEOPLE !
Preferably a club somewhere other than Orlando, FL ? Obama is going to need a … Safe space

Love how pissed and pained Mooch looks.
What a load.
Baaahahahaha
Couldn’t figure out why my husband thinks it is the end of the world as we know (he was listening to the CBC). I was watching on CBC (do not have cable so get two channels) but switched to CTV when the woman announcer called him The Trumpster as he came in to be seated. Then I missed most of the speech due to a phone call.
Looking for coverage about what was said, I found this headline on CBC website:
“The U.S. descends into brutality as the real-life Archie Bunker is sworn in as president: Neil Macdonald”
Beautiful words Lance. Mea culpa AND Mea Hopa. Obama’s FAKE hope & change is being replaced with the REAL thing.
I was an early-adopter of candidate Trump. Really, really EARLY. When Trump first descended that escaltor and ripped into our FAILED borders and immigration … I turned to my wife and declared “behold the next president of the US”. For ONE simple reason … Electability. There wasn’t a single other Rep. challenger who stood a chance. As much as I may be closest to Cruz in beliefs … he is/was UN-electable. I stated, repeatedly, how I cringe (still do) when Trump speaks. Trump “comes across” as an intellectual lightweight … UNTIL … you stop and recognize that an UN-intelligent man could NEVER become a $Billionaire … Even with daddies seed money. I have never admired “the Trump brand” … and even mock his architectural taste.
What I correctly recognized from day ONE … is how a blunt, direct, and unvarnished message would resonate with the American people. And boy, howdy … it DID. America was DESPERATE for CHANGE. And that CHANGE excluded each and every other Republican candidate … not to mention … HER.
Now … I am watching Trump take his mandate dead-serious. Trump doesn’t NEED to leave office with his pockets stuffed with “thank you dollars” like the Clintons and now the Obamas. Trump cannot be bought. Trump wants to make HISTORY, and create a legacy of being a GREAT American president. He is making all the right moves to do just that. I am even MORE hopeful today than I was a year ago … I honestly believe Trump will BE great … and Make America Great Again
I believe I didn’t use the phrase ‘separation of church and state’; rather I was referencing the:
1st Amendment 1791 Establishment Clause and Free Exercise Clause of First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
The Separation statement comes from Thomas Jefferson…
https://www.loc.gov/loc/lcib/9806/danpre.html
Jefferson’s Letter to the Danbury Baptists
…
Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between Man & his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, & not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should “make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,” thus building a wall of separation between Church & State. Adhering to this expression of the supreme will of the nation in behalf of the rights of conscience, I shall see with sincere satisfaction the progress of those sentiments which tend to restore to man all his natural rights, convinced he has no natural right in opposition to his social duties.
I reciprocate your kind prayers for the protection & blessing of the common father and creator of man, and tender you for yourselves & your religious association, assurances of my high respect & esteem.
Th Jefferson
Jan. 1. 1802.
You are correct the Constitution doesn’t use those exact words but the raving secularists attempt to use the 1st Amendment Establishment Clause and Jefferson’s letter in excised quote to drive a political agenda in the absence of reference to the Free Exercise Clause.
In any case, enjoy your Inauguration Day festivities… 🙂
I’ll try to find some Canadian beer to hoist with lunch! WOOT!

Knowing how upset George Soros is today is a good thing.
Schools that were forcing their students to learn about Islam and participate in prayers are, hopefully, long gone. If only it would happen here.
Trump dropped the gauntlet on Congress.. He has enabled (tasked) the “people” to get rid of obstructionists of both strips. He will go straight to the voters to get ride of those that don’t get his message..He is looking forward to 2018 & 2020….
I don’t think Trump is a pure Protectionist. He opposes the Truman doctrine of interference & the overturning of Foreign Governance (regime change), that does not mean he won’t destroy enemies of America. Destroying ISIS in Syria, without the UN designed regime change, may be quickly accomplished with the help of Russia & changes to the rules of engagement…
The usual political leaders do broad strokes, but leave loose ends. Trump is a real CEO who will demand clean results from his capable Administration..
JMHO
Heartbreaking, isn’t it?
God bless Donald Trump and the great nation – The United States of America!
May God repair fix Canada!
Cheers
Lorenzo
Was able to catch part of the speech. A genuine, well delivered and message which was entirely consistent with who the man, Donald J Trump is.
I was watching on C-Span, nice to have live video without any talking over the proceedings. Then they went to the phones to take calls from across the nation.
Screened calls for sure. I laughed out loud when a “black woman” said she was so thankful for Obama as he had gotten the States out of financial trouble and gotten the country out of debt. And the MSM accused The Deplorables of being low information voter. Colour me surprised.
Trump is the figurehead of the United States, but has done a brilliant and astute job of vetting those who will be working closely with and for the Administration. He has been doing this very thing for a long time, building businesses and creating things…unlike the former occupier.
Trump will be a leader who has the ability to draw the good out of the people. The United States has hope, not on a poster on a wall or on a computer screen, but in the hearts of the American People.
Whatever doubts anyone may have had about Trump were just dispelled in his remarkable acceptance speech.
No soaring meaningless rhetoric there. Just promises that Trump wants to be accountable for.
Its worth going back and looking at Trumps contract with America and comparing it to what he said in his speech today.
There is not a lot of daylight between the two.
Rather than drifting back towards the center after getting those rubes of the Republican base to vote for him like every other official Republican does, I’d like to say Trump doubled down on his commitment to the base, but its more accurate to say he triple downed.
He said what he likely could not say prior to the inauguration in the interest of a smooth transition of power.
It will be remarkable to see just what can be done, when a patriot who loves what America (based on founding principles) stands for who owes nobody anything – in either party or to backers, can do.
Especially a guy who seems to love love love hard work and achieving specific, measurable, accountable and concise goals.
