This of course is a ridiculous situation. The EPA has no business telling Alaskans they shouldn’t burn wood to keep warm in the depths of winter. For one thing, concern over air pollution from wood smoke is misplaced. The high levels of particulate matter in places like Fairbanks in January are not the same thing as smog in Los Angeles. The areas affected by pollution from wood stoves are relatively small because they’re the result of something called inversion. At -30 degrees Fahrenheit, smoke doesn’t rise. It drops down to ground level and settles in low-lying areas. But this doesn’t happen city-wide, it happens on a single block or street.
That doesn’t mean people living on that street aren’t affected. But it does mean we aren’t talking about pollution-laced fog descending on an entire city; we’re talking about burning wood to stay warm. He served as a father figure during the war when I did not know if my real father was alive or dead. It was this experience that convinced me that a career in physics would be wonderful if I could measure up to what was required.”

Perhaps the coming mini-ice-age that seems to be forming in Siberia is part of the Earth’s cyclic movement of the North Pole. The Earth’s oscillations are an intrinsic factor in forming climate. As such a climate model founded on a building ice sheet being formed over Siberia to the same extent as the ice sheet that once existed in North America would no doubt blow our combined efforts to reduce our carbon footprint all to hell. Couple that model with the amount of water vapour that is mechanically pumped into the atmosphere every year by our agricultural endeavours to produce more food for the planets burgeoning population and it is easy to see that we are writing our own suicide note. The Green plan of sustainability is as much of a dream as perpetual energy.

If you don’t keep the fire lit, you die. For people of modest means, and especially for the poor, that means you burn wood in a stove—and you keep that fire lit around the clock.”

Perhaps the coming mini-ice-age that seems to be forming in Siberia is part of the Earth’s cyclic movement of the North Pole. The Earth’s oscillations are an intrinsic factor in forming climate. As such a climate model founded on a building ice sheet being formed over Siberia to the same extent as the ice sheet that once existed in North America would no doubt blow our combined efforts to reduce our carbon footprint all to hell. Couple that model with the amount of water vapour that is mechanically pumped into the atmosphere every year by our agricultural endeavours to produce more food for the planets burgeoning population and it is easy to see that we are writing our own suicide note. The Green plan of sustainability is as much of a dream as perpetual energy.

In July, when Hillary Clinton accompanied President Obama to North Carolina on a campaign stop, that cost taxpayers $360,236. That number sounds ridiculous, but the cost of flying Air Force One for only an hour, according to McClatchy, is $180,118.

The Baby Boom started over 70 years ago. Demographically it looks like a snake ate a pig, and the bulge that started at the head is now reaching the tail. For about the next 12 years or so there’s going to be a ton of Boomer celebrities kicking the bucket. Both George Michael and Prince were born at the tail end of the Baby Boom.
