AT&T stops selling Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
As anyone concerned about safety will tell you, don’t cheap out on batteries. They are dangerous.

Lance’s point is well taken. These are lithium-ion batteries, the same in principle that grounded the Boeing 787 Dreamliner for much of a year, and the same as Tesla’s PowerWall household storage batteries. Some of us may remember similar problems with laptop batteries back in the 1990s.
It’s fairly SAD that … a retailer … not the Manufacturer … has to STOP selling a dangerous product. And rest assured, that my heirs will sue the life out of everyone in the entire supply chain … down to the UPS delivery man … if I die in a plane crash caused by this cheap Asian crap. Ain’t globalism beautiful ! Keeping your cell phone cost under $ 1K …
I was on West jet last week. They asked you not to charge your G7’s while on board.
In Indianapolis and Washington last week, all gate boarding announcements mentioned the Galaxy. Do not charge it during the flight. It must be powered down entirely during the flight. Ensure that no alarms or notifications will wake it up during the flight. On-board safety announcements repeated the message.
Am thinking that they should make available those fire resistant bags that R/C model plane guys use when charging li-po batteries. Of course, don’t brand the bags with the airline logo; make sure the Samsung logo and a scary warning graphic is all over the fireproof bags.
The article doesn’t have a numerator, nor a denominator — so how can I calculate the probabilty of failure, i.e. risk.
“…if I die in a plane crash caused by this cheap Asian crap.”
2015 was the safest year in aviation history

Whats this needless fearmongering about? More Asian crap and safest aviation ever.
Scared of flying? Reminds me of Stalin and Kim Il Sung.
Yet, I STIIL don’t want to fly an airliner piloted by a suicidal Muslim who was recently dumped by his girlfriend and spent hours surfing ISIS Internet sites … despite the stellar safety record of air travel.
And when EVERYONE perished in a Florida swamp due to exploding oxygen containers … we LEARNED they were a hazard and we STOPPED the DANGEROUS practice of carting them around, unprotected.
This is what happens when one can intelligently distinguish the difference between nonsensical statistical correlation and FACT.
Just as every EARTHQUAKE causes massive improvements to the building codes (here in Western civilization) … so we can RETOFIT buildings and prevent the DEATHS of thousands during the NEXT quake … unlike all those life-is-cheap, corrupt, Asian countries.
Samsung has pulled the 7…
exploding oxygen containers
*****************************
O-brother. The “don’t” explode. They generate a ton of heat when they start producing O2.
That’s what cause the fire.
They still carry these (in planes as cargo) and have for a long time. The problem was they are suppose to be expended. Some fool never checked to see if they were.
Next time I will endeavor to be more ‘precise’ in describing the EXACT process by which a previously “safe” device suddenly crashes an airplane before it even reaches cruising altitude. I freely admit indulging in colorful descriptive language without first exploring the physics to back my ‘claim’
mea culpa to ME … but NONE from a Manufacturer who ignores a serious DEFECT with their very expensive product … until FORCED to do so
That’s racist and maybe misogynist as well. Probably homophobic and definitely Islamiphobic. How can you evil deplorables discriminate against #Note7’ersunite 😛
