Little Potato’s appeal to the pope to renounce our sins is going over well in Saskatchewan.
Moe said the carbon tax will cost each family in the province about $1,250 a year and the province $2.5 billion, while at the same time threatening jobs in the energy sector.
And it’s carbon dioxide, not carbon. There is a difference, eh.

Two words: Not Withstanding
While not an entirely correct use of the term. I hope we in SK do the equivalent regarding this.
With the Canadian economy in tatters due to, take your pick; housing meltdown, oil collapse, ME crisis, EU crisis, Wynne corruption, Notley social engineering, etc., etc., etc. You would think that Canadians would elect a government that would try and protect its citizens but no we elect da lil’ spud. Someone should tell da lil’ spud about the first rule of holes. As far as the Liberals are concerned you don’t put down the shovel and stop digging, you put down the shovel and hire an excavator. Enjoy the decline cause we ain’t seen nothing yet!
Dictator Trudeau 2.0
And Catherine McKenna is stone cold stupid. CO2 is NOT pollution, its a building block of life.
These people are dangerous, in their stupidity, and to what lengths they will take to force Canadians to submit to their religion
Thermal Coal CAPP Price $40.00 USD/st (44.09 USD/t | 39.33 EUR/t) 27 Sep 2016 – 52 Week Low $39.50 USD/st 52 Week High 43.63 USD/st …

I can buy real furnace heating coal for $40 per ton.
Justing is really screwing Canadians at $10-$50 USD for a ton of hot air that only keeps his ass warm..
If this doesn’t put the economy squarely into a deep recession, I don’t know what would. We have officially transitioned from an economy which produced tangible products such as oil and gas, and which sold them for tangible money, which in turn supported countless well-paying, sustainable jobs. We’ve now traded that for an economy based on chasing down and corralling phantom gremlins. The result will be the immolation of whatever is left of our wealth. Venezuela here we come.
The worlds water reservoirs produce more greenhouse gasses than all of Canada.
https://wattsupwiththat.com/2016/10/03/claim-reservoirs-play-substantial-role-in-global-warming/
“That’s more greenhouse gas production than all of Canada.”
But Dennis, we can rely on a cookie sale and garage sale every month. Where is your faith in the country?
The Liberals and their media shills have billed Catherine McKenna as one of their best and brightest brains in the outfit…maybe we should be a bit concerned.
And Canadians thought present Obathouse was a freaking idiot.
Sorry to sound like a stuck record but…
FREE THE WEST
Wall should just kick Trudeau in the nads and issue a refundable tax credit to go along with the carbon tax.
Sorry to sound like a stuck record but…
FREE THE WEST
The mindless swing voters of Canada joined the progressive left and voted for the Spawn and his “war on prosperity”, green theologian, one man brain trust. This is the result. Not content to pimp the futile reduction of an essential and beneficial life gas that Canada’s forest growth more than sinks beyond our total production, he is now going after the Capital gain “loophole” in the sale of primary residences. I don’t recall seeing that one presented during the election give-away-fest! Chairman tiny-tot is on a roll.
I told you he’d do this. He believes he is politically immune and he’s probably right.
More than ever, the country needs Brad Wall as Conservative Party leader. He is the only one I am confident would hold the little dic’tater’s nuts to the flame.
We are going to learn a tough lesson when this carbon tax kicks in. Much of the carbon is related to either government-run enterprises such as electricity generation or already taxed products such as gasoline. It will cost more to heat your home, drive your car, turn on your house lights and with no reduction in CO2 (forget about on a world scale, I’m talking Canadian output only).
I guess if you work for the government you can be consoled by the fact that the government is now taking more revenue as your taxes rise.
The government will also initiate a plan to reimburse those who can’t afford the higher cost of a carbon tax. This is why a carbon tax is nothing more than a form of wealth redistribution. It allows the government to collect more tax and distribute some of it back to those less wealthy and it does nothing to reduce the level of CO2 emmissions.
Da L’il Spud is not interested in selling our grain either.
http://business.financialpost.com/news/it-is-troubling-farm-groups-say-they-cant-get-grain-transport-meeting-with-transport-minister?google_editors_picks=true
The Canadian Federation of Agriculture says the federal government isn’t paying enough attention to concerns from farmers about a report that calls for major changes to grain rail transportation.
President Ron Bonnett says another bumper crop is on the way and farmers are worried about a repeat of a rail bottleneck in 2013-2014 that cost the economy billions of dollars.
Recall Trudeau’s lie about a “modest 10 billion/yr deficit”, which is turning out to be 30 billion plus. Expect his $1250/yr carbon tax to be much much higher and far more punitive. The only reductions it will provide is to you pocketbook.
Those 25,000 “refugees” will produce 9540 tons of CO2 per year just by breathing. Did anyone levy a tax on that?
There is a reason why Norway and Australia viewed their carbon taxes as failures: because it is insane to kill one’s economy and expect taxpayers to fork over what little money they have to do so.
That is why when the winter is one of the coldest on record and Christmas is pared down to the point of nonexistence one should remind one’s local Liberal voter that they are responsible for this.
Until cold and hungry crowds put Pierre’s little sh– in his place, count on a party coup to shake things up. Hopefully, Catherine McKenna will be such a casualty.
I am so sick of the liberals and their weather fear mongering. Shame on them for gaslighting the public in order to extort more tax dollars.
Gaslighting is “an increasing frequency of systematically withholding factual information from, and/or providing false information to, the victim – having the gradual effect of making them anxious, confused, and less able to trust their own memory and perception.
Your getting forward of yourself, Anterior. Didn’t you know that carbon pollution is the greatest threat we face and that if we dream we can change the world.
Well, in our dreams perhaps, but not in the real world. Except P’tit P’tate never has had to descend from the heights of his blessed existance to the real world. Do you think that spolied babe would have married a useless, no accomplishment, dead-beat part-time drama teacher if he wasn’t rolling in his grandfather’s tax avoiding trust companies? Didn’t he mke his money in oil?
PD No problem with the smart old geazer but his progeny could do with a little improvement.
“which in turn supported countless well-paying, sustainable jobs.”
In addition, countless social programs including handouts for those not really interested in working will suffer. Ironically those citizens who don’t place a priority on a sustainable job undoubtedly voted Liberal … or NDP. Sadly, those of us who took voting seriously in a futile attempt to maintain some sanity and common sense in Ottawa must suffer along with the irresponsible cretins who just wanted change for the sake of change.
Not so quick their my friend. Brad talks a good game to keeptheright half a sleep. It’s cheap. Action is what to watch for and he had done little to curb the NDP riddled public service and their agenda.
Free the West.
I understood resources to be wholly the responsibility of the provinces under our 1982 Constitution. Can the dissenting provinces, there are several, not challenge the federal government under the Act. Not that Liberals would ever be bothered by interfering in Provincial jurisdiction; they quote only parts of the Constitution they find useful to their ends, like the Charter of Rights.
At least a determined legal challenge against this tax grab would showcase the ruthlessness of Trudeau regime 2, sort of son of NEP. Can’t say Canadians weren’t warned.
I think they use “carbon” on purpose hoping to confuse LIVs that the fuss is over carbon monoxide (that kills people every winter!) with carbon dioxide, a staff of life.
That’s exactly what I’d do. Charge the Mandatory Federal Carbon Tax (with mandatory and federal in big, bold letters) on the annual Sask. Income Tax form. Then, right below the federal carbon tax line, rebate the entire tax – The Sask Rebate. Simple. Revenue neutral. No money changes hands. $1250 charged, $1250 rebated.
Ottawa would complain but every other province has/will have some form of rebate. A 100% rebate is still just a rebate, a universal rebate. If the Feds can be unreasonable then so can the provinces who are having an unwanted tax forced on them. Then, Sask could do whatever they think the proper response to climate change. I’d let the old coal plants go to their 40 year life, replace with natural gas and then eventually build small nuclear reactors. Saskpower converted QEPS from coal to ng quite a while ago and the newest coal plant is already about 26years old. Forget about taxes, subsidies, renewables. Do things that make sense in a cold, northern climate reliant on affordable fossil fuels.
Heard Kevin O’Leary on the radio today saying the Notley government is the worst government ever. He had steam coming out of his ears.
There is plenty of room for mockery coming up.
Consider the NWT, where a burning coal seam emits tonnes of the dreaded CO2 annually into the pristine Arctic Environment .
Has done year in year out since before the white man.
So who pays?
If the Federal Parasites are so sure that CO2 is pollution, they must extinguish this environment disaster.
Right Now.
Now the fact there are no roads and that the cost of doing so will be ridiculously high(even if it can be put out) are obviously of no significance to our fearless leaders.
If the citizen must pay indulgences, perhaps the Liberal fools had better live up to their own babble.
Secondly if you strangle a person who condemns CO2 emissions and supports a “zero carbon lifestyle”, is it still murder?
What with State Assisted Suicide being the norm, what is a concerned citizen to do?
Grant the deluded their hearts desire?
The new country formerly known as the western provinces, will be rich in mineral wealth and surprisingly short on freeloaders.
Could be a real wealthy Nation.
Carbon Tax = KLEPTOCRACY.
A big push to introduce additional inflation into the economy. The projections must look very negative.
How is this scam actually set up?
atomic weigh C = 12
atomic weight O2 = 32
C+O2 —> CO2
(1×12)+(2×16) = 44
12kg C +32kg O2 = 44 kg CO2.
1kg C produces 3 2/3 kg of CO2.
Is the tax per tonne on carbon on the mass of carbon getting burned or the mass of CO2 produced?
If you really want to get sick to your stomach read the comments to the article in Leader Post. There is a lot of support for demolishing Saskatchewan’s economy.
It would appear the tax is based on CO2 produced, so a tonne of coal at the $10 tax rate would be taxed ~$30.
Does Saskatchewan get paid by the rest of Canada for being a carbon sink?
I think Spud the show dog should send Saskatchewan’s own Ralph Goodale home to to sell the carbon tax to the locals.
C’mon Ralph explain the benefits in Estevan Esterhazy and Outlook.
I dare you.
How come bovine flatulence is considered to be contributing to “carbon change” but that which flows from leftist/liberal/SJW brains doesn’t?
The support for demolishing the Sask. economy is derived from sheer ignorance and the usual fear, loathing and envy present in the DNA of all socialists. No one in his or her right mind would long for a destroyed economy. The comments you mention are undoubtedly put forth by the usual idiots who become even more bitter and disillusioned every time Premier Wall hands their beloved NDP a major beatdown at the polls.
I am wondering if we, like the USA, have reached the point where what is left of right thinking people has had enough of the sick fantasies of the left. How long can we coexist with grown men who are identifying as little girls. Men, and I use that term loosely, are giving up their genders to become a living pronoun and little else.
The corruption and arrogance in our federal governments is now almost Norman MO as it is in banana republics. We are led by psychopaths and narcissists who do not give a shit about country or citizen.
Revolution is coming. It will start small, but it will continue as it does in the Middle East when you have many factions with their agendas fighting each other eternally …
We have put up with these scoundrels for far too long. They have become powerful and they have the educational industry, the media, unions, public service and the courts all carrying their water. It may be too late to turn things around, but it’s not too late to make their lives impossible and miserable… better mount up y’all.
Sorry I posted this comment on the wrong string.
Steve from Rockwood. Re: Rise in energy prices.
My take on all this is that boosting the price of energy is what it’s all about.
I was reading a news item this summer. It was about GM of Canada terminating the manufacturing of at least 3 of it’s popular lines. The Buick Regal will be built in Germany after 2017, the Chevrolet Impala will be built in Michigan in 2019 and the GMC Terrain will be built in Mexico in 2017. Not good news for Canada. The Cadillac XTS and the Chevy Equinox are also scheduled for new assembly plants. I doubt that it will be Canada. And how many of the parts for these cars are from China or Mexico??
Those are massive income losses for Ontario. How many other companies are leaving Eastern Canada due to outrageous energy prices, labour problems etc.? We just bought a new Sears Washer-Dryer, it’s built in Chicago. Bought a new clock with brand name Ergo, and while the company address is Markham, Ont. the clock comes from China. My friend across the street replaced the starter on his truck, made in Mexico. Most likely with Chinese parts.
Something has to replace that lost income for Trudeau, who spends like a drunken sailor.
What better racket than an invisible tax on an invisible gas??
Good. Some Saskies need to know what it feels like to be Alberta instead of jealously kicking Alberta in the teeth.
Sorry you feel that way, but that is a very small minority. I was in Calgary last August, and guys were passing me on 16th yelling ”Go Riders, Go.” My kids live there, I don’t want any harm to come to them.
I think the federal, and like minded provincial governments should show leadership by getting rid of all air conditioners in public buildings and removing all govenment run parking lots so all gov’t employees have to take public transit. Over to you Mr. PM, or are you really just a self-serving hypocrite?
Well the idiots in Quebec and Ontario got the Government they wanted, now they don t like living with the results. I think that its only a matter of time before the Western Provinces get fed-up with the Tater-Tot. When that happens and it will, we will see a separatist movement that will make Quebec look like Patriots.
Sorry you feel that way, but that is a very small minority.
Yeah, and that small minority calls Alberta RED Rose Country.
And football doesn’t mean shit.
All it is is Bread and Circuses to keep the stupid masses from realizing how badly they are governed.
carbon tax x population = Liberal national deficit
And the Spawn unleashes NEP 2.0.Let the Eastern Bastards freeze in the dark.
You kick the feds in the nads by stopping any and all cash from Saskatchewan to Ontario. If Wall is not going to the mattresses… Well then it’s just pissing and moaning.
Brad could be a good piss-ant and eat shit, or he could decide to use the Opt out, calling a quick election to get a Mandate to tell Ottawa to shove it….The idea (mandate) would create a real optics problem for Alberta & other Western provinces…The carbon issue is secondary to the unchecked power of a Dictator
Ottawa may have caused a Constitutional crisis…
Well Western governments have had a deliberate policy of high energy prices but this tax, as are all taxes, is just for the money. It is a overt way of raising the HST.
Also, it will only be $10 per ton at the beginning and be “revenue-neutral”. And, in 202, when it’s 5 times that amount, will it still be revenue neutral? Time to kick the bastards out already.
