Oh, Shiny Pony

Who ya gonna believe? The PMO or a private company?

Michel Bonin, senior vice-president of government relocations at Brookfield Global Relocation Services in Ottawa, told The Globe and Mail that each “transferee,” or person moving, is informed about which benefits and “entitlements” they can claim under a Treasury Board directive and then submits receipts to the third-party company, which seeks reimbursement from the government.

The PMO further denies that Mr. Butts and Ms. Telford were briefed about which expenses they were eligible to claim. “There was no briefing to Gerry and Katie in this case,” Kate Purchase, Mr. Trudeau’s director of communications, said in an e-mail.

  1. I’m retired Canadian military.
For every one of my many postings, the movements folks always provided extensive information on what could or could not be claimed and all the entitlements. This included a plethora of printed hand-outs and guides. A similar system is used by the public service.
Someone in the PMO is being economical with the facts.

  2. The biggest expense that my wife and I had moving from Saskatchewan to Ontario (a distance of 1900 miles and 32 hours of driving) was the mover at $14,000 dollars in 1987. So $100,000 for moving today seems a little high as expenses tend to double every decade.

  3. These are the elite overlords that are open about raising taxes and they tried to get us to pay the tax on the profit they made when they sold their mansions.
    Dirtbag scum liars.

  4. This is a record being smashed.
The last liberal government didn’t get caught doing this until well into Chretien’s third mandate…the operative “caught” as it pertains to the media reporting it as opposed to running defence.

  5. “They weren’t briefed, in this case? So tell us about the disciplinary/corrective action to be taken against the person(s) whose job it is to brief them, because obviously that is someone’s job and they must have neglected to do it. Or someone is lying about them not having been briefed,” said no journalist to the PMO.
