The olympics are a bonanza for the wickedly corrupt IOC and the sponsors who make millions off unpaid athletes.
I didn’t watch even a minute of it.
I went eight days without electricity after the ice storm. Debit and credit cards were useless so I now keep a few hundred dollars in cash in the gun safe, keep the top half of the gas tank full and always have a spare propane tank for the barbecue.
By the way our federal government wants everybody to have three days worth of food and water on hand. My Jehovah’s Witness mother has a ‘go bag’ because the JW leaders advise all their members to have one on hand.
On the subject of stockpiling water I was on a 5 day camping/canoeing trip in northern Ontario last week with a large group and all the water we consumed came out of lakes and rivers run through a Katadyn water filter. After that experience I think I will get one to put in my home emergency kit.
The world that didn’t experience the 30’s or 40’s food shortages don’t have any idea about
stockpiling… I always have >30 days in the pantry, it’s a habit… My sister (90) keeps 2 freezers full..she is good for more than a year….The big box stores make sense to most old Canadian folks, they load up beyond reason…
In the 40’s & 50’s winter in the country was such that you where lucky to get to a store once a month…Bread was sold in large cartons (returnable)…

“Unpaid athletes” … EXACTLY ! Or at least SEVERELY underpaid in proportion to the total $$$ TAKE $$$ by the IOC. Why is it always the Socialist organizations that pay their executives so well … but pay the “talent” peanuts by comparison.
Another fine example of this is American College Football. The Socialists running the NCAA, including all the Socialist college presidents take-in $$$ Billions $$$ off Div. 1 Football, and Basketball. And what do these fine Socialists pay the athletes ? Room and Board … and MAYBE a free education (with a degree in ‘mass media’) … if they don’t get injured and lose their scholarship. I consider the exploitation of these athletes to be downright scandalous … and sinful. Ohhhh the Socialists running the NCAA will tell you that they actually “lose” money with their “amateur”, “student” athletics … by tossing out statistics as bogus as a “dead-broke” Bill and Hillary Clinton. It is a total disgrace. It would be like telling an A-list Hollywood Actress that she will just get paid UNION-scale for a film that takes in $ 150 million, instead of her typical $ 10 million dollar cut. How far do you think THAT would fly ? But that is what’s happening to top tier college athletes. They are generating $$ Billions $$ and getting paid SQUAT. They aren’t even given walking-around money. Only Socialist colleges could get-away with this. They run the WORST kind of sweat-shop (literally) in the nation … and get away with it. It makes me physically sick to my stomach.
