  6. I hope they recorded the carbon footprint of the fire. That adds to the emissions considerably.
    Today, my car was parked. I’m waiting for a new electronic control, the old one was leaking coolant at the back of the engine. I used my bike and my runners all day. I feel good, but I’m starved. If I have barbecued pork chops before bedtime, the propane I use will have offset the fuel I saved today. Tit for tat they say!!

  8. Sky News mini-documentary shows how easy it is to buy military/sporting/ small arms from gun runners in the E.U. and potential for them to cross into the U.K.
    They acknowledge such small arms and other things would thus be wide spread in criminal and potential terrorist gangs in the E.U.
    The Sky News analysts think this means more U.K. police should be armed to protect the public.

    There is no consideration that the armed police in France, Belgium, Germany et al were not able to protect their unarmed citizens. Nor what to do in the case of knife or vehicles being used as weapons.

The opposition are impotent so it’s up to the people to get some kind of tsunami going to let her know she can’t get away with killing the province to fund her green stupidity.

  19. Gang related shootings somehow don’t figure when they’re coming up with such data. Apparently they don’t figure people can get caught up in the crossfire if they happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
    Ottawa continues to try to dress up lower Rideau street, called “The Byward Market” area, a place long known as a hooker hangout and all that goes with it. Public help is not forthcoming and the usual reason why it isn’t is not mentioned. Ottawa needs to take gang related violence seriously, whatever they’re doing isn’t working.

  22. I don’t know, but Edmonton’s been a rough town for many years.
    During the 1990s, in one neighbourhood near my part of the city, there would be a drive-by shooting, usually at someone’s house, at least once a month. At about the same time, there were a few incidents believed to be related to disputes between ethnic gangs. Drugs were suspected to have been the cause in many of those cases.

  23. The recent rise in crime stats in Edmonton is largely due to the slowdown of the oil-industry in general and the FtMac fire. Unemployment almost always breeds increased criminal activity.

  24. My brother has lived in central Alberta for close to 50 years without a problem. This year his house has been broken into twice. It must be a young offender because the cops returned some of the things that were taken in the first B&E but the punk did a 2nd B&E and re-stole the things that had been recovered. Just lovely.
