    But if he’s going to apply the standard of racism from his childhood to decide what is and isn’t racism today, then it’s worth pointing out that his childhood-era standard leaves out quite a few things that most people today would consider clearly racist.

Leftists are doing to History, what they have been 100% successful in doing to “the South”. By brainwashing everyone into thinking the 20th century South was nothing more than a cesspool of Jim Crow laws and bastion of racism. They have taken a small fragment of a partial truth and made it into the dominant attitude and belief of an entire region of America so as to smear it into pariah-hood. In fact, the vast number of Southerners I have known lived closer-to, and had more respect for blacks than any “progressive” I have ever known. Kids of my generation grew-up playing football on the same teams as black kids; sharing a locker room, getting naked together (yeah, we really DID take communal showers in high school), working toward a common goal, and respecting each other in the deepest ways possible … by virtue of effort, integrity, and teamwork. Side note: Piss off if you are offended by me using the term “black” for my African-heritage brothers … you see, I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s when the phrase “black is beautiful” was used by the black community. THEY preferred to call themselves “black” … so I adopted THEIR terminology. There is NOTHING disrespectful implied in it whatsoever. So don’t bother trying to pigeonhole me into some category dictated by your politically-correct rule book. My answer to you would be F*

    Growing up in the 60s and 70s means your childhood took place against and benefitted from the civil rights era. The March on Washington was 1963. Jim Crow laws were abolished two years later. The NFL had been racially integrated for a good 15-20 years.
    But not so during Eastwood’s childhood. In fact, between 1934 and 1946, there were no black players at all in what would eventually become the modern NFL.
