I belong to a school of thought that promotes the principle whereby it is wrong to tell the truth about someone or something if that truth is intended to cause damage or harm to a person or institution (etc.).
I’ve noticed that the National Post has joined in with the mainstream media to defame Alberta oil. I used to believe that the CBC was the worst of the MSM for going against oil. Considering how western Canada’s been shafted since the Shiny Pony took over, what are the chances of the crop ever being sold? After all, didn’t Pierre say “Why should I sell your wheat?”
Here in SW Sask, weather has been wet and cool. Crops are fantastic throughout the center of John Palliser’s Triangle. Spotty hail, some mold in certain pulse crops. I really don’t believe that Trudeau Jr. has a lot of influence on Western Canada’s farm commodity sales, especially not since the CWB has gone to the wayside.
I am the last person on earth that you would trust to stand up for P.E.Trudeau. However his famous line ”Why should I sell your wheat” is another deterioration of facts by the MSM.
In happened July 17, 1969, when Trudeau was meeting farmers in Saskatoon. Trudeau never uttered the sentence with intentions of belittling the crowd who couldn’t sell their wheat simply because the CWB just wasn’t buying or selling. Some were forced to sell wheat as low as 50 cents per bushel ”off board’, for feed or to what was known then as the ”black market.” “Why should I sell your wheat?” was meant as a question to spark a discussion as to what could be done to improve the situation. Trudeau of course was defending the CWB, blaming a world wide glut of grain as the cause of the problem, and in hindsight, he was right. The media however took the discussion out of context by reporting that Trudeau’s statement was arrogant and that he dismissed farmer’s concerns. To this day, Western Canadian wheat growers hate P.E Trudeau, largely because of the MSN’s ignorance in reporting facts.
The same scenario unfolded when P.E.T gave three protesters the middle finger on Aug. 08, 1982 from his train window in Salmon Arm, BC. While the press and TV were quick to report the incident, they did not elaborate on the fact that one of the posters read ”Trudeau is a pig.” Other protesters had hurled stones and rotten tomatoes at the train, breaking a window in the process. (SVP correct me if I’m wrong.)
Conclusion: Never believe the MSN.
I know about the wheat question. Still, he should have known better than to ask it in that context.
Of course, nowadays, rather than rake the Spawn over the coals, the MSM would praise and support his “dynamic” and “daring” leadership if he did the same thing.

My bro and I hauled many a load of grain from rat infested barns and sheds in exchange for farm products from my Dad’s bulk fuel and chemical business. (1970) We sold the grain to feedlots in Alberta.

I can not tell you why exactly….. but I am suspicious of that video. Maybe it’s real but to me it lacks the emotional response I would expect to see and hear from both from the women and her daughter and the dialogue seems scripted.
And I certainly DO NOT agree that “police shootings are becoming the lynching of 2016”.
On the other hand, I do think that the police are entirely too quick to use lethal force. There has got to be a better way to handle these situations than shooting.
Also, body cameras should be REQUIRED for all law enforcement personnel …. it might answer the kind of suspicions both you and I have just voiced.

I disagree with GLady @ and especially Colon from my experience with the RCMP in a northern Canadian context. I’ve always found them to be competent, polite, professional and helpful in all situations. I’ve seen them exercise extraordinary restraint when dealing with abusive drunks and druggies. The officers were calm and professional when I would have been very tempted to beat the shít out of the creep.

Now if PET was the smart guy he is often given credit for his response should have been, “In peacetime, why should the government be responsible for marketing the farmer’s wheat?”
