Good Samaritan assaulted on SkyTrain.
On June 9, a man noticed three men in their 20s board the train at Sperling and call out to a female passenger that they were going to follow her home.
One of the men “made jokes to his two friends about raping her. The first man stood up and sat down near this suspect, telling him to leave the woman alone,” said a Transit Police news release. “Suspect 1 became aggressive, swearing at the man and threatening to follow him off the train.”

Coming as I do from Toronto, it sure is a change to see the colour of the “suspects” given out.
That’s because they are all white…
There will eventually be another Bernhard Goetz moment. People are starting to get fed up.
What was everyone else on the train doing during this incident? All the Good Samaritan would have needed was one other person to back him up and the whole thing would have ended with a bunch of hollering and posturing. Break the first one’s nose or arm and the other two would have run home to momma. No this isn’t being a vigilante, it’s simple self defence.

sad to say, but… these days it’s not worth your life to intervene unless you are armed & kevlared.
perhaps we’ll get to the point where previously law-abiding firearms owners start to carry concealed.

Have to go with Neo here – the kids getting on the buses in the GTA are carrying at times – seen it, watching them at the bus stops while I’m waiting for a light to change. Used to see them flashing their pieces by the roadside when passing on the GO train.

That is an incorrect assumption. ‘pepper spray’ commonly sold as ‘bear spray’. It is however a chargeable crime to use it as an offensive weapon, jut like a lot of other things. That does not make them illegal.

That is why after you’re forced to defend yourself you need to disappear. Never wait for the police. As far as cops are concerned your successful defending of yourself makes you a bigger threat to their monopoly on violence than the thug who assaulted you. No they really don’t give a $hit about you being alive or dead. Never go looking for trouble, but if you cannot avoid it, as soon as the confrontation if over, try to put as much distance as possible between yourself and the place the confrontation took place.
