In All Thy Gender Neutral Command

  1. I am going to criticise Mr. Belanger because he knows g-d- well that he is being exploited by one of the most iron-fisted and corrupt governments this country has seen and he damn well knows it.
That grammatically incorrect dreck is not my anthem and I won’t be standing for it.
If that pansy who refused to call honour-killings barbaric doesn’t like it, he can run to his mother and pout like the nancy-boy he is.

  2. I’m assuming the idiot’s first language is French. So did the racist bastard only choose to butcher the English language? I assume he is totally pleased with every noun in the French language having a gender while one in the English language is too many. Is this guy going to hurry up and die before he can do any more racist attacks on my language. How does the French version of a gender neutral decree even make sense? I am assuming similar to how Mein Kampf makes sense.

  3. I have no problem offending him, what he proposes is plainly stupid idiotic and simple minded. Leave our nation anthem
alone. Jebus wept liberals you are in charge of a country not a bunch of forking panty waisted student leaders-grow the fork up Justine.

  4. Why didn’t the aforementioned idiot insist that we revert to the French version?
    Oh right! It’s too Catholic!
If I knew for a fact that the original French version would make leftists’ heads literally explode, I’d get the biggest speakers I could and crank them up to eleven.

  5. There is no lower bar for the Liberals to slither under. It’s dumbfounding. What’s up next? If we think this is the end of the historical cleansing of all we hold dear by this feckless pack of Liberals with majority government, we ain’t seen nothin’ yet.
Belanger’s illness is tragic, but he is also playing it. Why this and why now? I make no apology for saying this, shame on the lot of them as they bastardize everything Canada has stood for. Rewriting history can’t be far behind.

  6. So let me get this straight: we have to change “in all thy sons’ command” because it isn’t gender-neutral, but in French they can keep the part about Canada’s arm knowing “how to carry the sword and the cross”?
Isn’t the French version insensitive to all the peace-loving hippies and all the non-Christians out there? Isn’t it all a little bit Crusadery? Aren’t we going to offend the poor little lambs of ISIS and all the freedom-hating terrorists who now call Canada home? Isn’t this terrible terpsichorean abuse going to ‘trigger’ them or something? Can’t we offer them a safe space from such violent imagery?
Oh, lawdy lawd, can’t we please get rid, once and for all, of Canada’s horrible, heart-rending devotion to warmongering and god-bothering?
    /sarc off, obviously.
I can’t even watch the disgusting spectacle in Parliament. Of course, I feel the same way every time that revolting little communist or his babbling fart-catchers open their mouths.

  7. Evidently ALS isn’t contagious by physical contact but narcissism is by political association.

  8. I think we should adopt the literal translation of the French version as the official anthem:
    O Canada!
    Land of our forefathers,
Thy brow is wreathed with a glorious garland of flowers.
As is thy arm ready to wield the sword,
So also is it ready to carry the cross.
    Thy history is an epic
    Of the most brilliant exploits.
    Thy valour steeped in faith
Will protect our homes and our rights.
Will protect our homes and our rights.
… and we can accuse anybody of not wanting this version to be the official O Canada of being anti-French.

  9. His last wish before he dies is to see the anthem changed.
My last wish was to never be under another Trudeau government.
I think my human rights have been violated.

  10. Don’t care. For me The Maple Leaf Forever is the national anthem. Oh Canada is just a silly song that sounds like a funeral dirge.

  11. I too prefer The Maple Leaf Forever. Lets get a petition going to make it the official anthem!

  12. Agreed. O Canada is hardly inspirational and does indeed resemble a funeral dirge. I’m a proud Canadian and all but personally I find the Star Spangled Banner to be a much more rousing anthem. The Liberals can change the anthem to whatever is currently in vogue for all I care and, like every thing they do, it will be done whether Canadians are in agreement or not.

  13. They’ve changed the words to it already, BTW, several years ago. You can probably find it through a Bing search but as I recall it was just atrocious.

  14. I cant wait for the next dying rubber head liberal to put forth a bill asking for the Clifford Olson Memorial Day Care centre at parliament hill, or a pedophile grieving centre for the transtesticled. Apologies to Archie Bunker.

  15. That is a great translation, and a brilliant idea. I find it to be much more patriotic and heart warming. Thanks eh! And much like Coca-Cola and Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, it is ”the original” recipe.

  16. Mauril Belanger was elected in one of the safest Liberal seats in Canada, 21 years ago. So he had 20 years to contribute or put forth this idea , why should it be such a priority now? Why didn’t he persuade J Chretien to change the line if it was important. The point is it isn’t.
A lot of anthems originated in the 19th or 18th centuries and the actual words are not very relevant currently; think of God Save The King, Star Spangled Banner and others. These nations do not rework the words every generation or so, only in Canada is this fashionable. The English translation was already reworked about 35 years ago, a hockey singer in the Montreal Forum came up with some “improved” lyrics. I think this may be the official English version now, but who knows any more.
The new version scans exactly like what it is, some ham handed politician trying their hand at song writing.
We scoff today at the efforts of Rev Bowdler and his attempts to “improve” Shakespeare’s texts in the 19th century. This effort is worthy of as much serious consideration as Bowdler’s.
And this only opens the door for a host of improvements down the road, “native” land, Muslim accommodation, etc. etc.

  17. When they are not sniffing and licking each others asses. Changing the National Anthem should be by referendum, not a vote. It’s neither the Liberal’s nor the government’s national anthem.

  18. Gee Lorrie, maybe you ought to have spoken out when the Canadian Media Guild registered to defeat Harper in the last election.
This is what your silence (and that of your media compatriots) bought.
Whining now about having an idiot man child fronting a corrupt political party that seems intent on establishing that it is going to remake Canada in its own image – well its a bit late for that.

  19. Yes, there will be more changes to be more “inclusive”, a favourite Liberal excuse for everything. Apparently we can’t have people being equal as just plain citizens without breaking them down into groups according to their race, religion and what seems to be highly important the various categories of sexuality. There will be many more verses to accommodate this Pizza country, all for none and none for all.

  20. Of course there will have to be changes. Every special interest group will have a verse devoted solely to them in order to make them inclusive.
For example, there will be one extolling the virtues of imposing sharia law on the whole country. Then the Lettuce Garlic Bacon and Tomato people will sing the praises of men in dresses relieving themselves in women’s washrooms and how noble it is to imprison anyone who says anything “hateful” about them.
And, one more thing, there will be at least one verse in which all able-bodied white men will be thoroughly trashed. Maybe that’s how the final version will start. After all, isn’t white male privilege responsible for everything that’s wrong in the world?
    Isn’t inclusiveness wonderful?

  21. Typical Liberal asshole who believes Canada belongs to the corrupt Liberal Party. Change the flag to the Liberal Party logo without consent, change Dominion Day to the banal meaningless “Canada Day”, fundamentally change the way Canada is governed by imposing the Trudeau Charter, once again without consent from the people, the Liberal way. Now change the national anthem because some unaccomplished Liberal is dying, what a crock of shit. The fact the Media believe Belangers imminent death is excuse enough to change the national anthem is simply pathetic, consistent with their slavish devotion to the Liberals, but truly pathetic. My memories of Belanger is that he was a fat assed arrogant french language activist and not much else. I guess Belanger just can’t shuffle off this mortal coil with some dignity, quietly, without inflicting at least a little more cultural damage, what an obnoxious self important little man. Liberals are disgrace.

  22. M Belanger wants to change our national anthem: let him begin with the French version. Only Anglos should be allowed to change the English version.

  23. Nah, just sit it out….silent. The PC clown/clownette trotted out to sing it can do so w/o our contribution. Or drown them out with boos. The optics would be awesome. I’d buy a ticket just to go & do that.

  24. All of the above. Using the impending death of a person to score political points is a travesty.
We do not fly the Liberal flag at our house.

  25. personally I find the French anthem a rousing tune. the russians otoh, DO have a funeral drab for theirs. at least the soviet cummunists did. maybe it changed.

  26. Again, it’s too Catholic. I’m sure someone is working on ridding us of that, too, and changing the official anthem to something more American, Chinese or Cuban.
There is a shocking lack of rioting over this and the failed (for now) attempts to revamp the electoral system in favour of the autocratic Liberals. We must do something about that.

  27. You could get the signature of every Canadian outside Quebec, but “The Maple Leaf Forever” would NEVER be used as our national anthem unless they could change those opening lyrics!
“In days of yore, from Britain’s shore
    Wolfe the dauntless hero came
    And planted firm Britannia’s flag
    On Canada’s fair domain”
I love those lyrics,we sang that song in grade school a few times in the 1950’s, but Quebec would rather see us all dead than to have those lyrics start every hockey game in the Country.
Mauril Belanger, stop your shameless exploitation of our sympathy for your medical condition, and leave our anthem alone. Better men than you have died for the Country this song represents.
Find something better to do while you’re still on earth, rather than leave a legacy of bitterness and resentment millions will feel if the government is stupid enough to change the anthem.
Maybe work on removing those absurd Quebec sign laws.

  28. That’s why I sing the French version at all possible occasions. Haven’t noticed any Francophone MP’s wanting to change THOSE lyrics. Or are they all just separatists at heart?

  29. “If there are any (God forbid) terminally ill Conservative MP’s listening, please see what you can do about our property rights. ”
Nope, don’t know any…. but I do know of a terminally ill “Conservative” Party. Will that do?

  30. just change the song as we have decade after decade. nothing in Canada is sacred. we are bunch of buffoons who seem to lack any sense of history or concern for our cultural heritage. change everything who cares, you will have your face in the dirt praying, or pretending to pray, to allah one of these days.

  31. The Conservative party is not doing it’s job well but what can be done about an arrogant Liberal majority government? Look at Ontario as another example, they do what they please as they steam roll on while we sit by and pay and pay as people trek to food banks in increasing numbers.
Still getting calls for membership and donations and my answer remains the same, “Sorry, I live in Ontario, can’t afford to donate to anything and if I could i still wouldn’t support stupidity”.
All things considered who feels like singing any anthem of a country with so many voters stuck on stupid?

  32. liberals are a blight on an otherwise wonderful country. Hopefully the senate will reject this sham.

  33. Well, they might given that the Prime Minister has disowned the “Liberal” Senators…they have a chance to show him who’s boss!

  34. What else would you expect from liberals who have no respect for God and Country.
Next up, delete any reference to God and change the title to “O UN”

  35. Canada, blessed with a history absent from violent political change that plagued so many nations and required a changed anthem, Germany, Italy, Russia, and others, changes it every few years simply for childish political reasons. It is unthinkable that France would tinker with La Marseillaise or any other mature, confident nation. But in Canada, the Liberal party uses national symbols as mere political props to be changed whenever they imagine it is to their advantage.

  36. This is why we should take to the streets in protest…but we are not, we are sitting back like sheep and letting them bastardize the fabric of our nation.

  37. Right, the overpaid often useless Senate should simply return the bill for further study. After all that is one of their functions, sober second thought. The non-Liberal Liberals, whatever they are called have the opportunity to hold Jr to his word on independent action. National symbols are the sort of thing they should be protecting, especially when the bill was ramrodded through parliament with very little thought, second or otherwise.

  38. Liz;
If the fed CPC wanted to do a real job they could start discussing the threat that the current provincial debt in Ontario and Quebec poses to the country as a whole. No, they did not do that under Harper and are not likely to under this current opposition. They are more likely to sell their soles for votes down the road.
Basing action on philosophical commitment rather than popularity polls might actually have a better result over the long term. With a progressive conservative the likely next leader of the CPC we will likely never know. Progressive conservatism says to me that ‘vote CPC rather than Liebel because we are simply smarter people’. I find it hard to get enthused.

  39. “in all our aberrants command”
Doesn’t lilt right. Can’t Justin get his dad to write some edgey Stones riff to stick on as well?

  40. Yep the Senate is the last hope. Strange saying that. Perhaps Harper should have done his duty and filled it with young Conservatives.

  41. Oi Canada
    something something something transgender
    something something something carbon tax
something something something brown paper bags of cash…
    Oh crap lets just emigrate

  42. “Don’t you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought? In the end we shall make thoughtcrime literally impossible, because there will be no words in which to express it. Every concept that can ever be needed will be expressed by exactly one word, with its meaning rigidly defined and all its subsidiary meanings rubbed out and forgotten.” (Orwell, 1984)

  43. “Oi Canada
    something something something transgender”
    No…the first line is
    “…our home on Native land”.
