  1. Interesting abuse of statistics here: http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-06-05/where-us-adults-get-their-news
The headline is “This Is Where US Adults Get Their News From”, and says “62% of US adults get their news on social media”.
At least they let us see the graphs from the study, which show that 56% of US adults get their news from social media “Never” or “Hardly Ever”. And those who get their news “Often” from social media only amount to 18%.
Even I can see through that one.

  2. Is it me or are most of the shows on AMC terrible? I watched the first episode of “Preacher” two weeks ago and I was completely baffled. I saw the first one for “Feed The Beast” earlier tonight and I wasn’t impressed.
“Fear the Walking Dead” is bland, “Turn” is boring, and “Halt and Catch Fire” is silly.
The only one that’s really worth watching is “Better Call Saul” and that’s because of its association with “Breaking Bad”.
Maybe I’m getting too picky about what’s on TV nowadays.

  3. We mainly watch Knowledge Network in BC. On AMC we watched ‘The Night Manager’ excellent with Hugh Laurie as the bad guy.

  4. TNM was OK, but nowhere on par with earlier TV adaptations of le Carré’s works, namely “Tinker Tailor Solider Spy” and “Smiley’s People”. Hugh Laurie was good in it, though.
It’s a pity we don’t have something like KN here in Alberta any more. We had ACCESS back in the 1980s and ’90s, which was originally affiliated with CKUA. It started mutating from an educational station to a commercial after the Klein provincial government stopped supporting CKUA.
I believe ACCESS, or whatever it became, was absorbed by CTV a few years ago.

  5. Preacher is amazing!!!!! Loved the graphic Novel and find what they are doing with the show rather interesting. If you haven’t seen banshee yet go find it and enjoy… only if you enjoy an interesting story and lots of unrealistic violence.

  6. One of the problems with shows like that is that they tend to cater to those who are familiar with the original material. I’m not and, based on what I saw of “Preacher”, I don’t intend to change that.

  7. Wanna talk green energy fiascos, farces and scams come to Ontario, corruption by any other name and we just have to sit and watch it all go down.

“Already, insurance rates in Brampton are the highest in the GTA. I discovered this when I moved to the city and had to buy car insurance. An insurance agent told me this was because of the high rates of crashes and fraudulent claims in Brampton.”

  9. The amount of sun in rainy England must have been to obvious to miss.
Here is another hint. When the sun light hours drop so do the leaves

  10. Intersesting video on history of Kievan Rus.
Particularly the part where the prof correctly points out the flow of the Slavic people’s reason to move the capital from Kiev to Moscow.
Therefore, there’s no historical distinction, other than tribal jealousies, within Russia as Putin quite rightly states.
Curiously, history also shows that Ukraine, a province of the Slavic people once the capital was moved to Moscow for practical reasons, has never been independent. At least until 1991.
Sure, they tried to gain independence by helping Hitler’s war effort with the formation of the Waffen SS, which were all too willing to kill Jews for the cause of overthrowing the ”Moscowli.’
But that didn’t quite work out, did It?

  11. “…Ukraine…has never been independent. At least until 1991.”
If I may. There was a short period during 1917-1918 in which Ukraine was independent until German forces installed their puppet Skoropadsky and then the Bolos conquered Ukraine, driving the weak Petlurist Ukrainian forces into Poland which was at war with Bolshevik Russia.

  12. Um. So , the people that put on the Waffen SS uniforms figured the German army should only take over the Moskali since they should be repaid the favor when they were machine-gunning Jews for the Fuhrer?
My mom, living in Minsk at the time, thought it was strange when she heard soldiers in German uniform speaking the Russian dialect of Ukrainian (it’s on the video).
Such heroes the Waffen SS were. Too bad they fought on the wrong side. Some of the survivors even made it to Canada. Saw it with my own eyes. Picture of a family friend with two bars on his collar.

  13. Typical Pootinista demagogue, equalizes Ukrainian independence from the Siberian horde to nazi war criminals.
In case it escaped your attention Ken was referring to 1917-1918 which last time I have checked was a bit before waffen SS was created.
As for Ukrainians joining waffen SS during WWII (which of course was much less common than Pootinista propagandists wants you to believe), after what russians did to them in the preceding decades they can be hardly blamed for signing a pact with the devil himself.

“Climate and Energy Minister Lars Christian Lilleholt will cancel all coastal wind turbines which were agreed to be built in 2012 and promises to replace them with a new offshore wind farm in 2025. “When I think back on the energy agreement from 2012, it was a mistake that agreed to build the coastal wind turbines,” he said.”
