The Sound Of Settled Science

Joe Aleo;

Actual, original data have been changed so much and so often that they are almost unrecognizable from the original entries. For example, the 0.7 degree Celsius (1.3F) of cooling between 1940 and the 1970s – which had the world worried about another Little Ice Age – has simply “disappeared” in these corrupted-computer-model re-writes of history.

  1. It’s not a secret that the alarmists of climate science have adjusted past temperature data down (original temps from 1930’s and 40’a were warmer) and current temps up (see NOAA’s adjustment to sea temps last year). They also emphasize surface data and ignore both weather balloon and satellite data. The need to exaggerate warming and ignore inconvenient data sets isn’t good science.
To get away from adjustment bias and motivated reasoning, I’d to look at the most pristine and longest running weather stations. The most pristine and accurate stations have only been run for a decade or so, the U.S. Climate Reference Network, (USCRN) operated by NOAA. The longest is the CET, central England temperature, stations. The USCRN confirms the pause in the 21st century and the rural CET stations unadjusted, homogenized data show a milder temperature rise that isn’t much more dramatic than past increases.
If weather balloons, sattelites, the USCRN and best sited CET stations are all showing less CAGW compared to the land surface and sea surface data then those divergences need to be explained, not ignored. Or worse, adjust all other data sets to confirm the sea surface and land surface data.

  2. The problem is “scientists” are still regarded by most of the public as august noble men of science with only a concern for the people and the planet. They are seen much as Doctors were by my Grandmother’s generation.
Most people are not aware of the difference between today’s money-grubbers whose “integrity” is for sale to the highest bidder, and the noble scientists of 100 or more years ago.
Today’s career scientists are no more like Pasteur,Jenner or Curie than today’s politicians are like Disraeli or Churchill.
Eisenhower’s famous “farewell speech” is renowned for the mention of the military-industrial complex, but NOT so well known is the part about science whores; “The prospect of domination of the nation’s scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present – and is gravely to be regarded.”
They’re far more dangerous than the aforementioned military-industrial complex. Government funded scientists are the useful idiots in the war on the people currently being conducted by the elites of the OWG movement.

  3. “Here in the north, air temperatures often change more than 30 degrees F in a single day…”
No kidding. In the last two weeks we’ve had highs of 27C and lows of -3C. A 30 degrees Celsius difference in days. Yet all flora, fauna and humans are perfectly fine – it’s almost like we have evolved to adapt to temperature fluctuations. I guess that’s why I was unimpressed the climate alarmists newest fear inducing animation
    http://globalnews.ca/news/2697112/animated-graphic-details-spiralling-global-temperature-change/
Less than 2C warming in 150 years. About half before 1950 (the earliest date where human CO2 emissions could possibly impact global warming). Pre 1950 the temperatures were, and still are, recovering from the little ice age. Given the emotional response and twittering, I’ve concluded that journalists and progressives have got to be the most fearful people on earth or just the most gullible. As a joke someone should produce the same animation using prairie weather.
AGW is real, catastrophic AGW (CAGW) not so much.

  4. Funny thing is, you could not make this shit up.
If 10 years ago,You or I had stated, with evidence, that the state officials were rewriting historic data, most of us would have mocked the writer.
Since the CRU emails the revelations have gone from bad to worse.
If government has touched documentation, with respect to climate, that information has probably been “modified” to fit the narrative.
    Good Enough for Government.
certainly reinforces the belief that government is force, most usually bent to theft.
Now the policy based evidence manufacturing has failed , the projections of doom have attained their own escape velocity from reality.
The consummate liars are reduced to complaining that reality itself is at fault.
Our models are perfect, the planet is lying.
Now the problem we are left with.
We cannot know, using modified “data”, whether we are warming, cooling or standing still.
The signal has never emerged from the noise.
However some gross signals are indicative of cooling.
Those ocean bouys are not toys, the expanding Antarctic Ice may be a clue, the general trend of the Northern temperature stations.
That we be in the cool half of a roughly 60 years cycle.
Due to the corruption rampant in our kleptocracy we do could be entering the next ice age and never know.
Best Lie Ever.”We are from the government,we are here to help”
(You into slavery and poverty) is never voiced.

  5. Mankind is at its very heart a religious species. Since its creation it has set up a priestly class that is questioned only at great peril of the inquirer. in today’s secularism those priests are called scientists and they are expected to discern truth and deliver it to the uninformed masses. Any questioning of their gnosis (hidden knowledge) is verboten.

  6. There was an excellent presentation by the former head of the Geological Survey of Canada at the Friends of Science dinner last Tuesday. He looked at the temperature record of the planet over the past 600 million years. Temperatures have varied far more widely than we can imagine. Life has survived all these variations (although human beings would not have survived some of them) and CO2 concentrations have followed climate changes, not driven them. We are currently living in a period of unusually low atmospheric CO2 concentrations, so it should be expected that they would return to more normal, higher concentrations simply on the basis of a regression to the mean. Atmospheric CO2 concentrations have been ten times higher than they are at present including during ice ages. The climate will change. It has always changed and we cannot know how high future rises will be or wether or not we’ll slip back into an ice age. For humanity’s sake we should hope we will remain in an interglacial warming for the next twenty thousand years or so. That’s likely the best prospect for continuing civilization assuming the politically-driven nut cases at all levels don’t finish us off first.

  7. In the early 1880s threshing around Fort Edmonton, St. Albert, and Fort Saskatchewan finished up in March with the 4, 8, and 10 hp threshing machines doing a stellar job. Much of the wheat was ground into flour and sold to the government to keep Indians alive. 80 years later, despite earlier varieties, my father wouldn’t sow wheat because there was no guarantee it would mature before frost. Everyone is basing their anecdotal weather story comparisons on the 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s which were a real bitch as far as cold winters go.

  8. If a young, up and coming “climate scientist” had written the (excellent) linked article, he would likely no longer be able to find work in his chosen field now that the state and its Lysenkoism now dominates the field.

  9. Not only are these so-called scientists getting paid a massive ransom paid by your tax dollars, but they are getting paid to do the easiest possible task … fake science. All they need do to “prove” their science is simply manipulate the data. I did that once, in a Mechanics Physics class (I was measuring rebounding billiard balls, as I recall) … and got a C-. Ironically, that is the same grade that Al Gore got in the only science class he took in college. I learned my lesson (per my professor who had and taught integrity), and went on to an A- in the course. Sadly, our government has no scientific integrity. They reward myth, and punish proof. And for the scientists, their work has never been easier, or their funding stream so predictable.
“Proving” global warming is as easy as the color-coding of my local weathermans map. prior to global warming, an 80deg. F temp was represented by a shade of light orange on the weather map. Since global warming, that same 80deg.F temp. is represented in bright RED! And a 100deg. F temp. is depicted in a deep dark shade of purple-red, bloody red DEATH! See how easy it is to manipulate the low information sheep ? And I expect my weatherman received a NOOA grant to “standardize” Map colors.
    We are being LIED to

  10. Could someone draw this to the attention of Patrick Brown — I know others are just as bad, but I had hoped for something better from Brown. I cannot imagine that all of the Ontario Conservative caucus agrees with his position on “climate change”.

  11. Very true. Unfortunately, it seems like a majority of today’s scientists most closely resemble the alchemists of centuries past – making absurd promises with faked experiments in order to keep raking in money from gullible rulers.
A recent story (that of course never received widespread publication) announced that over HALF of all medical research being published is fraudulent. And that’s *medical* research – imagine what that number would look like for climate research! That’s paradigm-altering news, and what’s the reaction?
    Crickets.
    We’re screwed.

  12. Don Morris, I couldn’t have expressed it better myself (and I was about to). These “scienticians” are chasing grants or government largesse of one sort or another. There are pockets of true scientists employed in R&D capacities by private enterprise but they most certainly do not waste time and resources on valueless vanity projects, unless of course those projects are sponsored government initiatives.

  13. When the data does not support predictions you change the data.
When the electorate does not support predictions you import new electorate. This the liberal way.

  14. “Not only are these so-called scientists getting paid a massive ransom paid by your tax dollars, but they are getting paid to do the easiest possible task” Kenji
It is not easy to spend 2 trillion on nothing for nothing…Think of managing a herd of “Fairy Fart” chasers without a Mission Statement that has any reasonable definition. The long Hours spent faking every task….enough to drive a normal human insane…..The Media repeating the same nonsense without questioning the why.
Global Warming is a fraud, everything is driven by the imagination of a mythical creature…
Ignore it and the monster will go away…..

  15. A million thank yous to Kate for posting this – this is a subject where vigilance is paramount.

  16. HEY SS …I DO ignore it … I still put my sweater on – one sleeve at a time. BUT my PG&E Utility and their “green” cronies in the CAPUC have conspired to make me pay the HIGHEST energy costs in the USA … all in the name of “fixing” the climate. I have to fund non-functional pillars of molten salt in the desert, wind farms that sit idle most days, and an Army of propagandists saturating the airwaves with green indoctrination. I am sick and tired of funding their make-believe playground.
This same fake green crap popped-up with Jimmy Carter, and Ronald Reagan drove a stake thru it’s heart (gov’t. Funding). Now we have had two full terms of Jimmy Carter redux … and desperately need Trump to pound another stake in these blood-suckers hearts !
    TRUMP 2016 …

  17. The Sound of Settled Silence ensures no off message noise is permitted into the dialogue. Like any con artists, they get nasty and violent when their ruse is discovered, or even chipped away at in the slightest. Like the embezzling bookkeeper, they can never take a vacation or a day off for fear of discovery.

  18. ah yup, from fake religion to fake science and fake news reporting, who’da thunk.
people are basically emotional reactionaries who “believe”, butt don’t tell the bible bangers in here

  19. Just as a question from an engineer regarding AGW, or for that matter, ANY science, what happened to the question I was asked constantly….”show your work”?

  20. No thank you. If we do not get rid of them ourselves we are not worth saving.

  21. Heh. That’s a good way to show context and perspective. When I’m feeling snarky I call the CAGW zealots Young Earth Warmists. Even Young Earth Creationists go back 10000 years. Young Earth Warmists only go back to the start of the temperature record (approx 150 years). Apparently nothing happened before that – Roman warming, Medevial Warming or any other climate optimum in the geological record. Ditto for eras and periods of higher CO2 that were warmer/colder and had more/less biological diversity.

  22. Kate,
Small point, Joe’s last name is D’Aleo or d’Aleo not Aleo.
    Cheers.

  23. people are basically emotional reactionaries who “believe”…
I know, like the believers in evolution, even though it stopped. Just like AGW.
The same circular logic used, the theory used to prove the subjectively interpreted evidence, and the subjectively interpreted evidence prove the theory.

  24. Lest we forget.
The fine work of our parasites over at Environment Canada; “Environment Canada’s Science”.
Try to wrap you head around the sheer arrogance and incompetence that could produce such a phrase.

  25. “University Students struggle to explain IF there is a difference between men and women:”
Damn. He should have asked the really hard question…is there a difference between cats and dogs. The stupid hurts.

  26. I am not going to say anything for or against. But what I will say is that there has been a real change to the volatility of weather. I am 63 and I cannot remember weather volatility (say 30-40, hell, even 20 years ago) like we have now. It seems we are getting radically oscillating jet streams on the consistent basis. This results are more blocked systems, heavy rains, drought, etc. Any comments on the the cause of this? It would seem ocean currents and temperatures are indeed changing which are affecting weather patterns. We had better prepare for much more change. No more forests allowed to grow to the edge of a city or town.

  27. we can analyse, write billions of words, create hundreds of computer models, impoverish, freeze, starve, jump through hoops, worship gaia, and the climate will change as the planet changes. man, will never be able to alter it.

  28. 1984 – when you lose the factual data, the facts become completely made up and truth shifts as the ruling elite changes it mind. Hence the importance of verifiable data. People may disagree on the conclusions, but the data allows everyone the opportunity to revisit an idea.

  29. So according to the global warming/climate change wackos if its 1 degree warmer then its proof of Global Warming but according to Al Gore and other green nutcases Global Warming cuases chickens to lay square eggs

  30. Hoppsing,
Well, I am 67 and I have not observed the “volatility” of which you speak. I recall cold winters, mild winters, rainy summers and dry summers etc throughout my lifespan. Perhaps you have let the sensationalist media colour your recollections. Indeed, Tony Heller at http://realclimatescience.com/ has made a specialty of digging up historic weather stories and charting historic weather data showing that we are not experiencing unusual or unprecedented weather phenomena. Factor in our better knowledge of long term climate cycles governed by AMO, PDO, ENSO and perhaps solar cycles beyond the simplistic TSO. Consider that the PDO (Pacific Decadal Ocillation) has a cycle lemgth approximately equal to your lifetime and then convince me that your short lifespan in relation to the 10,000 year span of the halocene qualifies you to observe aberrant weather phenomena.

  31. Hoppsing I used to go to a farmers’ cafe when I was much younger and I would listen to the old timers talking about the weather. There was one old timer who told me that in 1918 they worked outside in January in their shirt sleeves. Of course I had never experienced that kind of warmth in January. Then another fellow told me that in 1934 they had the wheat planted by the end of March. I had never heard of such early planting. He went on to explain that they lost the crop to frost in July. As others have said our modern perceptions of weather and weather patterns is tainted by wet behind the ears media types who hype the heat/cold to tantalize the viewers.

  32. It does not matter if the topic is global warming, domestic violence, pay gap between men and women, the percentage of the population that is gay/lesbian or crime rates per race, the left always lies about those things, always doctors the numbers.

  33. The only way to get our society to truly change is to frighten people with the possibility of a catastrophe.
    – Daniel Botkin, emeritus professor
Unless we announce disasters no one will listen.
    – Sir John Houghton, first chairman of IPCC
We’ve got to ride this global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing in terms of economic and environmental policy.
    – Timothy Wirth, President of the UN Foundation
No matter if the science of global warming is all phony climate change provides the greatest opportunity to bring about justice and equality in the world.
    – Christine Stewart, fmr Canadian Minister of the Environment
It doesn’t matter what is true, it only matters what people believe is true.
    – Paul Watson, co-founder of Greenpeace

  34. Well, something is happening. Maybe it is all within the climate/weather cycles. What I was referring to is the extreme oscillations of the jet stream in which you get record temps and/or precip, or lack thereof. Record highs on one side and record lows on the other. This lends to more severe weather events which do seem to be occurring. Anyway, the broad consensus is we have to reduce carbon emissions in a sensible manner – not like the stupid NDP leapers propose. Natural gas should be a major first step in moving away from coal burning. Also, we need to discuss more nuclear. It’s a waste of time to keep nattering about phony science – blah blah blah. The train has left the station. Even if you really do doubt all of the arguments for climate change, we should strive to reduce carbon emissions to alleviate the acidification of the oceans which is a very real and legitimate concern.
