  1. Naomi, I moan. (At your cluelessness about how difficult it is to run a business.)

  2. “Corruptisima re publica plurimae legs.”
The more numerous the laws, the more corrupt the government.

  3. If as Alexis de Tocqueville (1805-1859) wrote “The health of a democratic society may be measured by the quality of functions performed by private citizens” then our country is in mortal danger of being bribed to death by those seeking public office.

  4. ” … $ 163,000,000.00 in subsidies to the the liberal party’s single largest corporate donor…” This sort of taxpayer-funding of giant corporations is why Trump is winning and the GOPe donor-class are defecating themselves. It’s high time the lowly taxpayers put an end to the government gravy train … at the ballot box.

  5. Carly Fiorina pointed big government forces business to go big to deal with the myriad of rules, impediments and outright theft of productive resources.
The statists lament that the gap between rich and poor is widening, but not for lack of effort amongst the taxaction apparatchiks. The income tax system is the primary driver forcing the working poor into poverty, so a logical conclusion is that statists, not capitalists are widening that “gap,” which essentially says the rich are doing relatively better than the middle income earners, who are also doing well, but not as much as the rich and, … well you end up with a cabin boy PM who, in true Grit fashion, sold a lie to gullible and masochistic voters, particularly in southern ON.
Meanwhile the poor get poorer, but the ones responsible get more powerful. Wait until Trump hits that vein of discontent. Are the Conservatives listening?

  6. “Only a third are useless? Naomi Klein is a nut case, pure and simple.”
Be very careful. That “nut-case” could well be “running” the “country” in 20 years. You get what you pay for,or get sucked in for by their yaps. But hey….she is sorta half-assed good looking and might be fun at a circle-jerk.

  7. I had a great idea for a new technology and contacted my local IRAP representative (Industrial Research Assistance Program). They referred me to a local program for an initial interview. During the interview I was offered a program whereby I pay 50% of the costs and the other 50% of the costs are covered by IRAP. But the costs covered are only those costs directly borne by the local program organizers (Innovation Guelph). I left wondering what had gone wrong. I was looking for funding and rather than finding any I was directed to a local government organization that was looking for funding – from me and the Federal Government.
    Should I learn Russian now?

  8. Ironic, isn’t it, that Naomi the Commie has become very wealthy, thru capitalism, by selling fiction books in a free market

  9. Sham’otam … ADD usurious and unnecessarily HIGH Energy costs to the taxes (courtesy of the “green” cabal), and a myriad of FEES (auto registration and the like) … and the working poor can no longer dog-paddle fast enough to keep their heads above water.
And it is ALL down to the leftists. It is ALL their doing. ALL their policies.
So they send their UNIONISTA shock troops into the streets to DEMAND $ 15.00/hour … which will be just ANOTHER leftist-originated COST that will be PAID by the working poor.
The LEFT HATES working people. They want them enslaved and dependent on government

  10. the Act I enforce used to be on the Lawlist for the Federal Environmental Act, which meant issuing an approval under that Act required a screening level environmental assessment (EA) first. A government economic diversification fund was giving monies to volunteer groups between feb-March (which had to be spent before April 1st), they came to me and I had to say sorry you need an approval and triggered an EA that could not be finished in time. I called the fund and said “they will get their approval can you hold the money for them till they complete the required paperwork?” The answer was ‘No, it must be spent before April 1st” So the fund set people up to either break the law or fail. Incredibly frustrating.

  11. Our Society is doomed and has been heading in this directions sinc the mid 60’s….feminism started it (marxists in dresses), and then every two bit wanker that could not or would not actually “toil” for his daily bread jumped on the bandwagon….Now you can see we have every Left wing wanking socialist, tree huggin enviro-nazi, public unionists et all to contend with….and pay for.
Seems to me we are close to the tipping point whereby those that are in private enterprise will be outnumbered by those entrenched within the system….all the while we import by the thousands, the hardly civilized Islamic Barbarians just salivating to get here to use our Health care + tons of free shit and if offended (and they ALL are..), our HRC’s to manipulate our laws and corrupt our F’n Gutless/Clueless Politicians/Media (Ezra-Lilley excepted), at every level to seduce and reduce our civilization into a carbon copy of the scorpion infested Dung holes they came from.
…With Vanity Fair “leadership” more interested in photo ops than actually governing sitting on both sides of the border and listening to the air-headed Naomi Klein’s of the planet……we are definitely screwed.
Only bright lights I see is Trump may just win the election….. and that I might just pass my non and restricted license….think it may well come in handy.

  12. And yet your Trump messiah was in favour of the Bank and Auto bailouts in 2008!

  13. I run a very small business . If I ever get caught up on the deadlines I must meet for government filings , I will count them , but I am sure it is over 100. And everyone of them are anxiously waiting for you to make a mistake so they can levy a fine and. Interest and any other fees they can think off . Now I am on stats Canada ‘ s list . If someone does something that no one with common sense would do and gets hurt , it’s likely I would be fined , have increased rates , and if it was serious maybe go to jail . Even if it was something you directly told them not to do ! It has been so onerous and time consuming , I will not be hiring anyone and I am at a stage where I have had enough . Stats Canada wants to know if I will be hiring – no . Then they want to know how much I make and I told them it depends on how much the business makes – A concept they couldn’t understand .

  14. “A third of which are useless”
    Try closer to 80%.
These relentless rules and regulations supposedly “protect” the public.
Except no regulator can be held accountable.
So all the public have for protection is Buyer Beware.
All the pomp and procedure is theatre.
The taxpayer is still on their own.
Just another part of the Big Lie;”We are from the government, here to protect you”
    Now pay up.
    Concerned has it exactly right.
Under the new regulations,WSCC, there is no possible benefit to be an employer.
Your freedom and livelihood are now completely in the “all seeing” hands of bureaucrats.
All the risk and none of the reward.. so why hire any one?
    You cannot cure stupid.

  15. (psst. psst. hey, SDA, look to the ways and means Argentinians cope with the new economy to give you an edge when the same thing hits Canuckistan).
anyway. politishuns solving 1 problem by creating hundreds if not thousands and tens of thousands more. exactly what they do. google mark holland, lieberal MP who wanted to make it a CRIMINAL offense to refuse to administer aid to a REAL crime victim. called it the ‘good samaritan’ law. ya right. FORCED under threat of CRIMINAL CHARGES and all that spells for deciding you weren’t qualified or perhaps could become a victim yourself. typical liberalism. all because of some sort of specific case where a crime victim was left to their own resources.
p.s. cops love this kind of stuff. ratchet up the unwritten quota much faster.
    the private members bill tanked.

  16. I have been thinking about that quote from Harper that he was always criticized for — something about Canada being a second rate European socialist country. He was absolutely right. Moreover, the quote was never offered in context, but the context had to do with Canadians never recognizing that socialism depresses the economy. You want to know why Canada is always behind the US economically — here’s why.

  17. one of the questions I ask people is, tell me just what you can do in Canada that does not have the ugly thumb print of government on it? The correct answer is absolutely nothing.

  18. William Watson pokes fun at Naomi’s statist fatal conceit:
“Leaponomics evidently is based on lateral thinking. You list all the problems you have — declining postal employment, a need to encourage green things, an aging population, high bank charges — and then you link them all together: Posties driving electric cars become social workers and community bankers. Joining-up dots is always satisfying, but seminar brainstorming never solves real-world problems. As Friedrich Hayek pointed out, the real world is more complicated than any individual, committee or planning ministry can possibly imagine.”
In fact, Naomi Klein seems to understand this. Asked what she thinks about geo-engineering — fixing global warming by, for example, injecting sulphur into the stratosphere so as to replicate the cooling effects of major volcanic eruptions — she says she’s “seen the smartest guys in the room screw up a whole lot of times and the idea that we would put the entire planet in the hands of some very, very smart guys scares me no end.” Hayek might well have agreed. The environment is, as we economists say, a “complex general equilibrium system.” Poke it here and there’s no telling what unintended consequences will occur over there.”
We clearly don’t want smart people making decisions eh? Is high achieving human stupidity the norm now?
“But — Hayek’s point — an economy is also a complex general equilibrium system. Planners’ “fatal conceit” is that they are smart enough to control it. Hayek did not oppose all policy. We can do small, incremental things. But bend the system to our likes and not have it blow up in our face? Good luck with that.”
But that would require advocating limited government, which I understand now means being part of an “illegal” conspiracy.
