We’ve managed to go a full 24 hours without a music industry obituary, which always makes my job harder. So, this evening’s selection is from among the living: Keith Richards – Crosseyed Heart. Still the sexiest man in rock ‘n roll.

  5. Lacking inspiration, you could always go with Spirit of the West, Laura Vincent and Redwing, or Ian Tyson. Or go on to more contemporaneous singers such as Corb Lund et al.

  14. Yes, go with Ian Tyson. In fact, make him a staple — once a week. Eva Cassidy is also terrific.
    On another note, are there any CD stores still out there,or is everything now purchased online? I just discovered that our local CD Warehouse closed more than a year ago.

    What really jumps out is his speculation about what would have happened if Stephen Harper tried the same stunt! Exactly. This should be a wake-up call from the media. I know people who voted against Harper because they felt our democracy was at risk. I do not think that what the Liberals are proceeding with is what they had in mind when they were looking for democracy to be restored. Libs are looking bad, BAD on this. CBC needs to take the lead on this and start the push for a referendum. Their reputation is also at stake. They need to look like they care about fairness for all Canadians.

  32. And a FINE choice of Richards deepest delta blues guitar work. Love it ! In general I am not nearly metrosexual-enough to take Elton John in large doses. But ! His early work is really quite good. Thank you Bernie Taupin. I am a bit odd, but my favorite Elton John work isn’t Tiny Dancer as celebrated by the film Almost Famous (although Madman Across the Water is a fine lp)
