  1. Yieldcos = “selling sunshine to yourself for a profit” and getting all kinds of dupes to buy shares. Kind of reminds me of Trudeau Sr selling wheat to Russia and letting Russia pay for it with Canadian wheat growers money.

  2. Who would lend 300 million dollars to a company that owes 10 billion?
Not being an academic, is there something they are not telling, I ask.
    Why, I ask.

  3. No’fraud or willful misconduct’ because, for some reason, they had a reasonable belief that it was a viable business plan and the ten billion corporate valuation reflected the huge anticipated revenue from all the energy they were going to harvest.

  4. Yieldco’s, why does the name Enron come to mind?
On the environmental side. How is it environmental to cover up the land with panels so that nothing can grow there anymore?

  5. Nothing growing underneath photovoltaic arrays is somewhat misleading.
Insolation on a surface consists of beam and diffuse radiation. The former is direct while the other is a result of atmospheric scattering. Often, the diffuse component is larger.
As well, a surface can receive radiation that’s reflected off other surfaces. That amount can add a significant portion above the total of the beam and diffuse radiation.
It would, therefore, be possible for vegetation to grow underneath a PV array.

  6. Which would be expensive because they then have to keep the vegetation from shading the panels.

  7. Not if the PV arrays are high enough above the ground. Grass, for example, doesn’t grow very tall.

  8. More likely that the grass, moss, and weeds grow ON the surface of these … vast … arrays of solar panels. But so long as the borders remain open, we will have all the cheap labor necessary to “do the jobs that Amicans just won’t do” … washing the schmutz off the acres and acres of solar panels. Hey Amigo ! You missed a spot ! That’s gonna cost us 1kw this month !

  9. From my observations, it appears the soil beneath these panels dries out and only supports the low end of plant life. In a former meadow near here, they laid waste to the natural flora and fauna that was a positive eco system and replaced it with scrub brush with little chance of supporting anything. They moved onto the property with all kinds of heavy equipment, poured all kinds of concrete, compacting the soil so much you can walk on it in heavy rain without even getting mud on your boots.
It is clear to me that those who support these industrial panels care little about the environment.

  10. review did not find fraud or willful misconduct by management
Isn’t the entire taxpayer-funded enviro-subsidy system set up intentionally to NOT find “fraud or willful misconduct” by anyone involved? As long as you’re seen as Saving The Planet™ all is good. Someone would have to transfer funds directly into their own personal bank account, spend it and then brag about it in the mainstream media for any sort of serious (and consequential) investigation to happen. It’d be more likely be covered up so as to not embarrass/expose the whole rent-seeking boondoggle.

  11. Well so much for solar energy just as bad a wind turbines both being harmful to birds and bats and the stupid eco-freaks who support these so called renewible energy since Hanoi Jane went and ruined nuclar power in her crappy movie CHINA SYNDROME

  12. Can anyone name a green energy company that is actually solvent and making money… without dipping into the taxpayer’s pockets?
In all honesty, I can’t really blame the companies. Government offers you money up the hoop, what are you to say?

  13. Sun Edison going bankrupt looks like the so called renewible energy is a waste of time and the idea from drug induced minds What we realy need to do is harness all that Hot Air they AL GORE,DAVID SUZUKI,ROBERT KENNEDY Jr LEONARDO DICAPRIO,BILL NYE and GREENPEACE would be very useful
