A group in Saskatoon claims some transit users don’t feel safe on city buses and is trying to find out why. Bus Riders of Saskatoon says people have come forward and reported inappropriate touching by other passengers.
Now, suggestions are being welcomed by the group to help improve transit experiences in hopes of increasing ridership.
If transit was operated by a church, these people would campaign to have the whole system shut down.

From the news reports I’ve read, history books too, the institution that poses most risk to the public is government.

True, but as for physical safety now, universities (that I know of) are not a threat (maybe Yale, but not if you’re careful)
There was a presumption that men bus drivers would stop the bus and come back to protect his passengers, if needed.
Now there are women drivers who aren’t physically capable of doing that and neither are some of the men, especially those who come from countries where that isn’t a moral obligation under Western culture.
A friend of mine, a women who is doing her Phd here, was subject to racial harassment by two drunken men on the bus one night(insert Saskatoon negative sterotype). She is from the Indian subcontinent. She was terrified.
It was the 2nd racist attack she’s had to deal with here.
When the percentage of criminals in the population is allowed to grow too high, the rule of law becomes only a theory. Under Common-Law the good citizens responsibility
was to suppress crime. That is much faster than police who arrive afterwards with yellow police tape and a chalk outline for the victims.
Try going to a university when somebody like say Ann Coulter is scheduled to speak on campus. Physical threats abound. And it is spreading everywhere and must be stopped.
I’d vote for all of them.

OK in theory but a driver can’t be expected to take on a group of assholes or a large, belligerent drunk. Equip each driver with a taser and have signs prominently posted throughout the bus stating “Bad behaviour will result in being asked to exit the bus at the first available stop. Failure to comply will result in the guilty party being tasered into submission, the police will be called and charges will be laid.”
Drastic? I don’t think so. People who choose to use public transit should be able to do so without fear of being harassed or assaulted. An episode of twitching on the floor of the bus followed by being hauled away by the cops sounds like a pretty effective deterrent.

I love public transit. The more of these clowns we can convince to take public transit the faster I can get from point A to point B in my SUV. And no bike lanes. I didnt pay all this money to take up road space for a bicycle with tires 1 inch wide. We need wide lanes for all the buses carrying greenies and weenies.
So public transit is super, super safe. More people should use it!

I agree that we should have been able to vote for more than one public danger. Our leftist educational system is the biggest overall threat to liberal democratic society.
