  1. So, are there two factions in the higher reaches of the US government that are opposing each other through surrogates in Syria?

  2. If you think about this for a second maybe its not so stupid. Give them all the weapons they desire and let them kill each other off.

  3. Next we will find out how much the key “leaders” have/are being paid to be so patriotic..
May turn out that the only one defending the homeland is the dictator.

  4. This also nicely underlines everything that’s wrong with the US government intelligence machinery and bureaucracy.
The CIA should not be in the business arming militias (or conducting drone strikes for that matter). It’s an intelligence agency. It should be identifying the threats and letting the operators deal with them.
The philosophical separation of responsibilities between “G2” and “G3” is that way for a reason.

  5. tim, you are an astute fellow, if only some others could see this, things would improve very quickly over there:-))))

  6. I think it’s this coming week the largest mosque in America if being opened in Lanham Maryland.

islam is the one world religion and goverment. all rolled into one!!

  7. pfft.
the Langley Virginia crew have a many decades tradition of carrying out assassinations, coups, and certainly financing and arranging them.
Iran 1953 (+/-) vietnam visa vie Ngo Dhin Diem, Chile 1973.
it gets boring after a while how many times. success rate is, ummm, uhhh . . . .

  8. Obama still “believes” in his, Hillary’s, and John F. Kerry’s ARAB SPRING ! An Arab Spring that seeks to depose a dictator who keeps a lid on radical Izlam, in favor of a caliphate leader who would unleash barbaric jihad on the whole world. Jimmy Carter started this by deposing the Shah of Iran … and turning a beautiful, modern, Iran into a hellhole of radical Izlam. Obama is too dumb to even pick the “right” group of Izlamic “freedom fighters”. So he just picks em all. God save America (and the whole world) from this presidential dolt.

  9. That explains why the left is openly sympathetic to Islam: both have the goal of one dominant world government.

  10. Carter didn’t depose the Shah. The Shah left when he realized that he had lost the support of the population, particularly when the army turned on him.
It was Khomeni who turned Iran into what it is today.
Things went down the toilet when the Shah was let into the U. S. for medical treatment. Carter made the final decision about it, based on advice from his cabinet. He had misgivings about it but he thought abandoning a former ally would send out the wrong message.
It didn’t take long after that before the American embassy was invaded and occupied.

  11. “CIA-armed militias are shooting at Pentagon-armed ones in Syria”
You’re saying it like it is a bad thing? Why? If this is not the desired outcome, what is?

  12. How many times am I going to hear “European countries have ramped up their security”? It will mean something when they patrol and control their borders and throw out the muslim invaders.

  13. So Carter didn’t help free Khomeni from a French prison and return to Iran to galvanize the Revolution ? Carter did nothing to to help the Shah, an Ally of the US. Nothing. Except to preach that “the people” of Iran (meaning radical Izlamists) should get the leader of their choice. Yeah … You’re right … Carter didn’t depose the Shah anymore than Obama deposed Mubarek, or Ghadaffi. Unfortunately for Obama … Assad is a little tougher than a metrosexual US president and his lesbian Sec. of State. So Syria hasn’t yet turned into a Sharia hellhole.

  14. You’re probably right about how Khomeni was released from prison. My memories of those events are a bit fuzzy–I mean, it’s more than 35 years since it all happened, after all.
But Carter didn’t commit military forces to support the Shah and, likely, for a good reason. The U. S. was still smarting from the fall of Saigon only 4 years earlier. Getting involved in a place that didn’t represent a direct threat to the country wouldn’t have been a good idea.
Several years ago, I saw a documentary about Carter on PBS. He admitted that he had serious misgivings about letting the Shah into the U. S. When he asked what he should do if things went cockeyed as a result, his advisors didn’t have a good answer.

  15. “Obama deposed Mubarek, or Ghadaffi. Unfortunately for Obama … Assad is a little tougher than a metrosexual US president and his lesbian Sec. of State. So Syria hasn’t yet turned into a Sharia hellhole.” Kenji
The Arab spring almost succeeded, but Communists always KILL the deposed leader. Assad knew he had to fight for his life after Hillary gave the kill order on Ghadaffi…
