Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

First, yes, I’m going to engage in social signalling: I don’t like Trump. It’s obvious he is only saying what people want to hear. I doubt he believes a single thing he’s saying and, if elected, it will be presidency that glorifies him and only him. I also think the checks and balances built into the US system will prevent him from being a total disaster.
But…it’s also obvious that there’s massive class warfare. Regardless of Trump, it’s there and needs to be addressed. Someone else will tap into that anger. Politicians and the chattering class need to listen to these people before this boils over. They have genuine issues and concerns. Stop working only for crony capitalists, activists and donors. Continually making things worse/more expensive for a large portion of the population – working class and low to mid middle class is incredibly stupid.
If it’s not plain to anyone who is white and middle class that the elites regardless of ideology hate you, I don’t really know what it’s going to take.
In the last line I missed a hyphen which, ahem, may change what I meant.

Not if the idea is to break the old order, which is nationalism and control of one’s own country, to make a new order…just an extension of the disappearance of local control of local affairs.
If Trump did anything about that, which I doubt he’s against, he’d be dead in a week. One of those Washington heart attacks…
In some ways the present time reminds me of before the French revolution, Let them eat cake is now you must eat cake not to save you but to save the world.
I read someone commenting on Trump, if he does win, his ego is so big that he would actually do whatever it took to be considered the best president ever….At least one could hope 🙂
