Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Impressive is for horse and rider right.
In case you were wondering, some of our neighbours south of the 49th are also concerned. Not just Terek Fatah has certain thoughts.

Where was that supposed to be? Some looked like Spruce Meadows, Calgary, and other bits like nowhere land.
Can’t link to sources, but Ron Southern died recently in Calgary. Started Atco from a few trailers (Dad’s advice as to how to finance his way through med school, and there’s video showing him repairing them and getting them in shape) as bunkhouses for the early oil boom post WW II. Went on from then to fame and fortune, including some special meetings of international greats – I think it was his “Round Tables” . He died last week; noticed that comments all paid tribute to his integrity. Come his funeral: Calgary Tower lit up, many dignitaries there including former PM Harper and spouse, but not our PM. Obviously too western for regogntion.
In case anyone thought Orwell’s 1984 was just a work of fiction:

Had a good chat with my aunt in Prince George yesterday evening. Her and her late husband emigrated from Berlin in 1971. They started from nothing, worked really hard, and built a great life for themselves.
She is dismayed at Trudeau, who she thinks is more of a Playboy than a Prime Minister. While she is generally supportive of immigrants, she doesn’t understand why they should be given so much by the government, with all of the money needed to be borrowed.
Wise lady. Too bad a majority of Canada’s population are not as wise … and apparently failed Math 101.
Robert, at least 39% of the 63% that voted failed math.
Looking at the landscape and some of the signs along the course, I would make a guess that it is in Sweden.

Four Toronto cops accused of planting drugs on suspect
Four Toronto police officers are being accused of planting drugs on a suspect and then lying about it in court and Police Chief Mark Saunders is vowing to open an internal investigation into cases handled by the accused officers.
In total, the officers are facing 17 criminal charges.
The charges stem from a traffic stop in the Gerard Street East and Broadview Avenue area on Jan 13, 2014.

Paid police suspensions cost Ontario taxpayers more than $13,000 per day, investigation reveals
At least 80 police officers in Ontario were on suspension with pay during a three-week period this summer, including a Durham Police officer who has amassed more than $600,000 since first being suspended in 2008, a National Post investigation has discovered.
According to figures gathered in the Post’s snapshot study, the suspensions were costing taxpayers a minimum of $13,635.59 per day.
Ontario is the only province in Canada where officers facing charges must be suspended with pay until they resign, are terminated, or reintegrated, in a process that can take several years.
The debate over whether unpaid suspension should be allowed has been rekindled because of the recent case involving former Waterloo police officer Craig Markham.
Markham wrote an email, which was made public, thanking Waterloo Police for a “nice gift” that allowed him to “sit home, take courses, travel, and play lots of golf” after earning about $350,000 during a three-year suspension.
Information regarding police suspensions is not readily available to the public and is only documented by each individual police service.

In one of their most heinous massacres to date, militants from the radical Islamist Boko Haram group slaughtered over a hundred victims in a village in northeast Nigeria Saturday night, including a number of children whom they burned alive.

This is the only kind of horse racing those PETA idiots approve of since PETA is a stupid organization
PETA doesn’t support steeplechase. The premier steeplechase event in the world is the Grand National held at the Aintree racecourse in Liverpool. Horses and riders regularly get killed and permanently crippled in the race and every year there are calls to ban it. I’m not big on banning things with voluntary participants, but it is a very dangerous event. I think that the race shown in this video is much safer, because unlike the Grand National, there is only one horse on the course at a time.

Since the Toronto Star has been mentioned – in an article describing their rival Postmedia, they describe them as a “cancer on journalism”. They then savor Postmedia’s financial difficulties, blaming it on their lack of journalistic integrity.

So out of curiosity, I googled Torstar share price to see how they’ve done over the last 5 years. Five years ago it was $15/share while today it’s about $2.35. Meanwhile, their dividend sits at a pretty sweet 22.44%, with earnings at -$1.80/share and net profit at -18%.
Just the dividend alone is an indicator of them being in deep, deep trouble.
