  1. Should main stream media now be main stream medium?

“Tuesday, October 7, 2014 will go down as a day of ignominy for the Liberal Party of Canada.
For crass electoral reasons, the party voted that day against the Conservative motion to send CF-18 fighters to join the coalition arranged against the barbarians of the Islamic State, the militant group who, at the time, were knocking at the gates of Baghdad.
Calculating that the war would become unpopular, particularly in Quebec, the Trudeau Liberals locked themselves into a position advocating a “military role of a non-combat nature.”
That they still haven’t found a face-saving way to fix that blunder is now Canada’s disgrace.”

Just because a preacher says it is 2nd Corinthians, doesn’t make it true..

  5. Between Potash Corporation and Postmedia we had 500 job losses today, and we probably brought in 500 Mohammedans. This is what the Liberals call doubling down.

  6. “Canada’s most attention-grabbing personality is the new Liberal prime minister Justin Trudeau, whom a swooning electorate has just elevated to the highest office in the land. Possessing no relevant business or political experience and no demonstrable leadership qualities apart from name recognition and good looks, he is a dandiprat version of the fatuous nonentity America elected to lead them into a condition of weakness and insolvency.”
An excellent article by David Solway. I have not read anything written by Solway for probably decades. I think he used to write for the Grope and Flail.

  7. I don’t, but good question. Also, where are Jema54 and our truck driver/ex soldier friend from Ontario. It is disconcerting when regular commenter/friends suddenly disappear from these pages. Could we have helped in some way?

  8. Every Pastor/Priest/Minister I’ve ever heard called it ‘second Corinthians’. That was the gaffe. Personally I don’t care as Trump gets my support regardless, but it made his try at connecting with the Evangelicals look phony.

  9. By the way, I’m not a fan of these lists. Lots of errors made, and name recognition seems to be important. The same people had Neil Peart listed as the third best rock drummer – and mispronounced his name. You gotta be clueless to make that mistake…

  10. As someone who goes to church a lot but doesn’t go to a lot of churches, I don’t think I would have noticed 2 versus 2nd Corinthians. Hadn’t given it any thought before, but I guess our congregation does mix the cardinal in with the ordinal occasionally just to keep things from becoming too ordinary.
If he had said 2 Amendment it would have caught my attention.

  11. I live in an Eastern Ontario Federal riding that had a Conservative M.P. with several riding offices in different parts of the rural riding. So far the elected Liberal M.P. hasn’t set up any offices. People are starting to complain as each office used to get around 30 requests a day for help with forms like getting passports and other problems. Wondering if this is happening in other ridings. The Liberals seem to be having a lot of organizational problems at all levels. And no media coverage of the slowness and snacks.

  17. There wasn’t one truly good saxophone player in that line up … those guys were all what we call ‘honkers’. I know it’s pop music and that is for the masses, however, like in sports we like to watch the very best in the play-offs to see what the very best looks like in action. Same for music … so if you want to catch a glimpse of the very best … here is a piece by the greatest tenor player of all times, (in my professional opinion) Michael Brecker, with one of the greatest guitar players of all time … Pat Metheny. Sure, it’s jazz, but that is the only venue where the limits of one’s ability can be tested. You might like it.
If you have never heard of these folks, you have a some treats ahead, unless you are stuck in ‘honker’ mode all the time.

  20. The average person, myself included, would not know that nor would it stop them from enjoying the songs. The saxophone has wide appeal because it is the one instrument that produces many of same sounds that imitate the human voice.

  22. Well J, I’ll give you that Michael Brecker might have been the finest technician with the tenor sax that I have heard. However, all that technical ability sounds to my ear like a series of increasingly difficult finger exercises. It’s not music.
I realize that I am a mere philistine, not a professional, but, my taste runs way more to the following:

“These press releases are meaningless when one looks at what has really been happening in North America and more locally in United States . Instead of giving a balanced analysis of what the past climate trend is for their home country, they are just spreading climate alarmism which is inconsistent to the observable data . One year records are just anomalies, nothing else . The temperatures in US and North AMERICA are declining but NOAA and GISS will not call a press release to tell America the real facts.

  26. Yes, same thing where I live. Local Liberal candidate is useless. Put his constituency office in a location that is very difficult for anyone to get to. Most of the time he is not there. Totally disorganized and uninterested in helping the community. Typical lazy Liberal. Cares more about when his next flight is to Ottawa so that he can rack up more airmiles.

  28. BJ,
I hear you on the technical exorcizes that define many jazz players, but Mikey was creative, he didn’t just play exorcizes, he manipulated a song in many interesting ways.
Dave Koz is like Kenny in that they can play well, but they are commercial players who are great ambassadors to the saxophone .. David Sanborn who created a much copied style and is fine jazz/soul player as well.
Mikey was simply above all these guys for mastery of the instrument and for his innovations. Don’t forget Lee Ritenour never got the nod from the world of Leonard Feathers until he put out an album emulating Wes Montgomery .. another great original player who use octaves for melody line to emphasize his play … also didn’t use a pic so the octaves provided volume he didn’t get without the pick.
Michael Brecher earned the respect of every heavy in the Jazz world …
    Cheers,
Good that you listen to Coz …

  30. I guess “smooth jazz” like THAT has “mass” appeal. In the same way that beige is a non-offensive, neutral, wall color. When I hear that stuff, it reminds me of the color “mauve” … a washed-out, “accessible”, shade of purple and magenta that is simultaneously; neither and nothing.
