    I first came to the realization that ideology will trump common sense during that farcical and pathetic period when bob rae called the shots here in ontariariario.
    every administration gets at least a few things right after their term is up; the new democraps put an end to the nonsense of people croaking with huge estates left behind and no will.

  19. Anyone else think we have a government that clearly wasn’t prepared or expecting to win a majority?
    From where I sit they appear to be flying by the seat of their britches on every issue, including the so called climate change file, fighting ISIS and the immigration mess. The first batch of immigrants were the ones cleared by the Conservative government, many sponsored, and the media and Trudeau took full advantage of the photo-ops who did not look like they just left camps. The next load may not be so well processed, we;ll see how much publicity they receive.

  20. Speaking of Mao Strong, isn’t it strange that there was no coverage of his funeral? Did Adrienne Clarkson attend? She was a good friend, hostessing a birthday party for him just a few years ago. I am speculating that he is not really dead, and that the story of his death was perhaps a way if ducking some legal thing.

  22. @Cal2: I’m still not convinced the article isn’t satire. It certainly reads that way. Apparently, however, it’s considered a “scientific study”.
    So, if we just could get a few more women with mustaches into positions as “department leaders” at “the top U.S. medical schools funded by the National Institutes of Health”, everything would be just fine.
    Alternatively, if we could just get a few more women named “John” or “David” into positions of corporate leadership there would be less discrimination against women…. confusing but true.
    I wonder how much money was involved in measuring these significant indicators of discrimination. Whatever the amount, I suspect it was too much.
    The article is written by Alex Whiting. Not named John or David but is it short for Alexandra or Alexander or what else?

    He has a remarkably old-fashioned, romantic view of government – as an entity led by selfless politicians who, in concert with wise experts and devoted public servants, can come up with compassionate solutions for all our social problems. The fact that governments throughout the Western world have conspicuously failed at this task for the past 30 years does not deter him.
