Breaking a “Pledge”

Sounds so much better than breaking a “Promise”.

The Liberal government, elected on platform that pledged to ban partisan advertising, is set to launch a $500,000 digital ad campaign to boost public support for its plan to bring in 25,000 Syrian refugees by the end of the year, according to a strategic plan document obtained by the National Post.

Of all the election promises to break, it’s this one. The Liberal campaign motto should have been, “Politics, As Usual!”

  1. The Trudeau Liberal Cabal have a majority, they can do as they please, why is it necessary to advertise for “support” for what they’re going to do anyway?
We all know money is no problem for Liberals, they’ll pull it from somewhere and we’ll all pay and pay.

  2. I wish they’d break the “bring in 25,000 people who do not know where Canada is” promise.

  3. As happened below the border, every bleeding heart will now emerge from under a rock, and turn a nation with a semblance of sanity into another sophomoric protest meeting.

  4. They spray-painted it pretty pink, but you can’t fool me….it’s the same old rotten skunk.

  5. It’s propaganda to make us thankful for the benevalent gift of 25,00 unasimalable muslims to us.
    (Sorry for the spelling mistake)

  6. Even those who agreed with bringing “refugees” in from Syria as promised by Trudeau during the election have to be concerned with the time frame. It’s foolhardy to put your own people at risk to keep an election promise.
Liberals and promises are not always a team, we all recall Chretien and the GST. Ontario is another example of getting elected on promises which didn’t materialize, McGuinty was a master, he got dubbed “McLiar”, the dough heads in Ontario rewarded him repeatedly.
Given the current situation with terrorists on the attack a leader with a brain would stall keeping this promise until we can take our time to screen them. We could also be introducing diseases like TB and worse.
We are not in good hands, we are not safe when a leader ignores the advice of security experts.

  7. Piss on our head, steal our money and split it with their partner to tell us it’s raining.

  8. On the bright side Liz, any shenanigans that happen because they imported 25,000 ISIS troops will occur in Toronto and Vancouver. Which I think is fair, given that they voted for it.
Quebecois officials are two-faced enough to embrace Liberal multi-culti on the one side and stiff-arm Mooselimbs with the other hand.

  9. Liz:”…we are not safe when a leader ignores the advice of security experts.”
i get your point but he is not a leader. He is a political celebrity.

  10. Shiny Pony ran on a platform of change, campaigning on the theme that he would bring fresh ideas to Ottawa, that it was time for new faces and new ideas. After he was elected every question was answered with “It’s 2015, that’s why”, as if to say “Look at me, I am with the times, you are not.”
Yet if you look at his actions to date, there is nothing new or fresh about his approach at all. Zip. Nada. He has dusted off the tired old Liberal playbook and is following it line by line.
How could Canadians have been so stupid!! They tossed out a perfectly good PM for a pretty face that is playing the same old Liberal game.

  11. “It’s foolhardy to put your own people at risk”
Progressive AWRs don’t view you as their own people.

  12. The media will of course refuse to accept partisan advertising dollars. It’s not like they need the money or expect any payback from the libranos…

  13. Disgusting exploitation of the tragedy of Children for political gain. Oh well the figure head of the Liberal Party is once again named Trudeau. The apple doesn’t fall far from the Father’s group of exploiters.

  14. Pledge?
A liberal promise is as good as their ethics.
If their lips are moving they are lying.
Everyone over 30 knows this, yet they keep electing these liars.
Basically whatever you are promised by a political science grad, a career politician or a Klrptocrat Liberal, is the one thing you will never get.
Liberals promised Human Rights… You lost your civil rights and legal protections.
    Liberal Lies are legion.
The new lies to make the LIV weep and blame evil conservatives..
Legal Maryjane..sure provided by bureaucracy, low grade, high price and limited supply.Even more draconian state attacks on private growers.
Save the “middle class”, ha ha ha, no problem there will be no private citizens in this group. Government Employees only.
The poor under every liberals reign are the taxpayer.
As for promises to keep their partisan paws off of the public purse?
Only a Luvvie would believe that..From Liberals?
Almost as classic as Saint Fruit Fly, “Children. Send us your pocket change or Santa Claus gets it”.

  15. I’m tired of the statement, “This country was built by immigrants!” Those immigrants were not sponsored, they used their own resources, sweat and hard work to get ahead. These new immigrants totally rely on sponsorship, grants, welfare, subsidizes, and handouts. The qualified, English speaking ones, create a brain and resource drain from the country they come from leaving that country in even worse shape.
The Western world needs to help the people there, not bring them here. Education is the key, it lowers the birthrates, provides better government, and than the third world countries can move forward instead of being held down by the Western corporations that exploit their resources.

  16. Oh, they are going to change alright . If you are hardworking , motivated and prudent they will change a good portion of your earnings from your pocket to someone who is “disadvantaged ” pocket. Along the way a good portion will disappear for ” administration “. If you don’t like it you will be a bigot and have no compassion. Does anyone here notice the hypocrisy when it come to the temporary foriiegn workers program . Apparently they were stealing entry level jobs. It doesn’t matter they were doing jobs are disadvantaged won’t do or if they do apply for often fail to show up for on a regular basis. That they come from poorer countries generally work very hard and want to stay ,work and contribute to our country doesn’t matter. To give someone who wants to help themselves and their families an opportunity , well that’s a bad thing. But bring in people that you have to spend 1.2 billion +++++++ on that’s a good thing. And just a little aside – some of them may want to kill some of us .

  17. How many of the 25,000 Syrians will want to remain here when the civil war in their country is over? The Liberals assume they want to remain.
The Liberals are going to make them permanent citizens of our country as soon as they arrive…assume that will be after they have been screened for five minutes each to comply with the Liberal promise to get them here fast. Health issues are no small threat to the country either and that is not something we can screen for in the short time frame.
It’s pure insanity. Who among us ever thought it would be necessary to have extra security at our football and hockey venues? This has the potential for disaster for Canada, socially, economically and our very basic safety.

  18. Hopefully their ads will say, “We’re bringing in 25,000 strangers from a country that can’t manage itself, has a government that gasses its people and an insurgent fanatic group that is even more murderous and wants to rule the world. We’re going to rush this influx so that we can’t vet any of them properly and we’ll probably bring in a host of terrorists so that the example of what happened recently in Paris, Beirut, etc., can be repeated here and — get this — probably across the border in the USA so that they close their border to us, destroying our economy. All this because we don’t have the smarts to take the $1.2 billion taxpayer dollars this will cost and take the $48,000 per capita involved and build a new “Syrian Refugee City” somewhere in Syria, Iraq, Turkey, Jordan, or Lebanon.” Then finish with “This message is brought to you by the new Liberal, cough, cough, Trudeau, ahem….. Government of Canada.”

  19. “This country was built by immigrants!”
    answer:
This country was built by pioneers.
My ancestors were pioneers, were yours?

  20. I just wish that people would recognize just how unprecedented and perverse this wave of migration is.
I know that there is a real humanitarian crisis going on in Syria, but that has little to do with the refugees that we’re going to get. In Syria, it’s the Christians who suffer most, but both prime minister Trudeau and president Obama have made it clear that they think it’s wrong to give precedence to the most obvious victims in the case. Instead, we have to prove that we don’t discriminate against Islam by discriminating against Christians. While the Christians suffer the most, in the US, they account for less than 2% of all the refugees that have been accepted.
It seems to me that this is the first time in history where more oppressors are among the refugees from a conflict than oppressed. A UN survey showed that over 30% of the Syrian refugees actually support ISIS – the organization that sparked the crisis in the first place.
We should instinctively know that something’s not right here. Over the past century in Canada, we’ve seen many waves of refugees: Ugandans, Vietnamese, Hungarians, Poles, Jews, and in all of those cases, we knew that they would be grateful to us, that they would not try to undermine or change our society, and that they certainly weren’t going to try to kill us.
The fact that we have all of these concerns this time around should really be a clarion call to everyone that something is not right here.
I would like someone to explain why as a nation we are so determined to bring people who don’t like us here to live with us, and why it must be done with desperate speed despite the inclinations of our people.

  21. How long before the Americans require a visa for Canadians travelling to the States – awh yes, all those snowbirds will be outraged and not happy with Justin – I look forward to that eventuality. lol

  22. There’s a community group in Fr. Nelson that is sponsoring a family.
Direct from the desert sands to Ft. Nelson in the depths of winter.
    Yeah, they’ll sure appreciate that!

  23. “The Liberal government, elected on platform that pledged to ban partisan advertising…”
A pledge doomed to be a nonsense from the get-go of course.
If you’re the government, all your advertising is ipso facto partisan because it is designed to publicize and advance your policies.
What else could it possibly be?
More unicorn flatulence and rainbow gumdrops anyone?

  24. I think most of the “refugees” should be sent to the Atlantic provinces and Newfoundland of Danny Williams fame, where they vote Liberal no matter what they propose, it’s what we could call brain free voting. There are more people there who have lots of time during the winter months to volunteer their time to help get the strangers in our land settled, it’s the least they could do for their beloved Liberals. Of course we know that won’t happen, Ontario is the heartbeat of Liberalism provincially and federally, their capital city of Toronto is the united nations of Canada. We need to hope it doesn’t become a cesspool, or God forbid a war zone when ethnic cults who haven’t assimilated get restless, impatient with slow legislation to allow for sharia law for example. It’s already begun we’ve already caved on allowing face coverings for voting.
Canada has to be the most gullible of nations on earth and the most stunned stupid. Smart people don’t elect what we’ve elected to govern, a person who is not ready to govern with a party not fit or organized to govern. We are in for some real trouble on so many fronts with so many inexperienced people in key posts.

  25. Half a million of our money to be spent to put shine om a stupid promise Jr blurted out in the election campaign. Note there is nothing whatever magic about a Christmas deadline, the vast majority of those involved do not celebrate Christmas.
Who would complain if the process went on till June, or next Oct? Similarly the number is simply picked out of thin air. This is similar to J Chretien setting Can Kyoto targets; he asked what the Americans had targeted and picked a much greater number. Jr picked 25,000 because it looked so much bigger than Chris Alexander’s planned refugee estimate.
a sure sign of a childish mind is the inability to contemplate one might have been mistaken and carried away in the heat of the argument. And Canadians will pay for it dearly and often.

  26. Our man-boy, new and unproven leader I suggest should put his EGO, ARROGANCE, and STUBBORN attitude into his back pocket and sit on them for a long while. The SECURITY of this Country and the PEOPLE presently in it are a lot more important than some off the cuff election promise. No one should be allowed into Canada until they have been fully vet outside of this country.

  27. “On the bright side Liz, any shenanigans that happen because they imported 25,000 ISIS troops will occur in Toronto and Vancouver.”
Hey, please don’t saddle us with any more disasters. We already have Mayor Moonbeam, the most left wing “Tides sponsored” mayor in Canada. Not to mention the Heroin Shooting Gallery and the greatest collection of progressive “asshats” in Canada. Have some pity.

  28. I just find it satisfying that the people who voted for this doofus will, for a change, be the ones who get to experience the results up close and personal.
Traditionally it’s been the countryside that suffers from Liberal over reach. This time, it will be their very own voter base that gets to live with the 25,000 ISIS troops.
My advice, move. I don’t wish for bad things to happen, but if somebody is going to start something up it won’t be done in East Arbuckle Ontario. It’ll be in Toronto. Because Toronto has more people in it, pretty obvious.

  29. Lets see here, the US with all it’s might and resources are planning to take in 10,000 and officials tell us it will take 10 -18 months to vet each refugee but Canadistan is bringing in 25,000 by Christmas. Does anyone else see a problem here?

  30. “…How could Canadians have been so stupid!! …”
Canadians have been schooled to be stupid, for several generations.

  31. It is hard to see the elephant in the room because it is hiding behind the opaque mammoth.
The mammoth is that Islamic refugees ( esp.Sunnis) tend to have a lot of religious baggage that is not compatible with a secular society. Equality for women and gays along with freedom of religion are not a few of their favourite things.
The 25,000 will be almost completely Sunni.
The Ismailis, Ahmaddiyyas, Christians, Yazidis, etc. have avoided the refugee camps because of religious persecution in the camps.
The elephant is the fact that once a refugee touches Canadian soil they will be granted Charter rights.
You cannot deport anyone to a country where they may be in danger.
Basically, that means they are our responsibility until Syria and/or Iraq get their act together.
Until that happens they will be held on security certificates at great expense.
Anyone that we welcome into our house should be thoroughly screened before they get through the door.
    That is not being uncaring.
    That is not being racist.
    That is common sense.

  32. My parents were immigrants in 1957 (a few years before I was born.) I think they did their bit as new Canadians, but as far as I can glean from their stories, family photos, and the general history I’ve read, they arrived in a country that was already well built. I’m grateful to those pioneers and their children in a small Saskatchewan village who took my immediate ancestors in and showed them around and helped them fit in.

  33. They aren’t counting the ones coming via Mexico, now that the visa requirement is lifted. Add that into those costs. Is Merkel running the LPOC & NDP? The Eurotrash? How about the UN? It sure isn’t the LPOC ’cause they’re only good at brown envelopes of money to grease The Plan. Typical crime family operation. Outsiders are pulling these guy’s strings. US DNC interests & Foundations have interfered in this election & in our economic well being & the CONS were deathly quiet about it and did nothing to counteract their efforts to unseat them, or wreck our economy. And wrecked it will be, because you bet your last dollar that these “Syrians” will drift over the US border & cause some mayhem & that border will be closed.
These morons are going to WASTE millions of taxpayer’s $$$ flying rented jets to Canada loaded with unassimilating, uneducated, unemployable “Syrians”, from who knows where. Well, follow the money…who are the beneficiaries of this Plan? How much did they shovel into LPOC coffers to bag this gold mine? A thinking person has to ask: What the hell for and what’s the rush? So they can strut around some elitist leader’s confab one-upping each other? That money would be better spent setting up refugee camps in Europe (if that was the real aim) or wherever over there, NOT HERE & they could “service” probably 10 times the number of refugees for the same amount of cash, instead of JT’s “We’ll go one better than Obie” 25,000. Now that would be some strutting, eh JT? But then all those immigration lawyers, social workers, welfare, healthcare, cops & PUBLIC SECTOR dudes might lose out on a make work project to make their chosen one look good.
This country is now run by kleptocratic morons and the previous dirtbags did NOTHING to deflect the train coming at Canadians during the “election”. How’s that “incrementalism” working for ya now, pantywaists? You didn’t even stack the Senate (a choice LPOC tactic) to attempt to head off this catastrophe from happening, when you could have. The remaining crop are so brow beaten they’ll roll over on “raciss” like trained seals. They are supposed to oppose, but from what I see they’re just collecting their paychecks while their supporter’s fry under this government.

  34. Trudeau is a disaster.
He will be the impetuous I said it so it must be done arrogance.
Maybe the Liberals will dump him inside 4 years – not likely.
    We can only hope.
Not backing down on the immigrants/terrorists when other countries are reining in import rules appears to be a situation where those who know best are being told by a boy wonder with zero experience to make the impossible happen. A sign of sheer incompetence and self importance.
Not going to end well for Canadians, and we all will take the fail, not boy wonder.
But the CBC will be happy.
