So much for moving it to the west coast. Northern Gateway pretty much done.

The attack on Western Canada has begun…. The nature of leftist is to destroy prosperity and take everyone down with it… Those voters who thought they were getting something else are like the frog who was promised by the scorpion that it will not sting it if it helps in across the pond. ” Why did you sting me scorpion, we will both drown now !! ” The Scorpion’s answer like the NDP and the Lieberals: “I can’t help it, it’s my Nature”.
Western Canada will see an onslaught like we haven’t seen since the NEP, likely worse. The Country will never be the same and it will likely end with it being a Country on paper only.
The upstart colonies Alberta and Saskatchewan must be put in its place… They only exist to provide the East with resources and money and it has dared to stray from that.
Northern Gateway was dead from Day 1. It was really a waste of time as there were simply too many jurisdictions (mostly native) to get approval from. Trudeau is just making some political hay with the environmentalists which is rather smart since he know`s the pipeline would never be built anyway. The pipeline that is the real no-brainer is Energy East. Let`s hope the Feds will show some leadership in getting that one done. And I still have hope for Kinder Morgen but that is going to be tough.
I guess this is how governments will run from now on. The second they’re in undo everything the previous government did. I hope the CPC remembers this good and hard.
Step one in the shutting down of oil sands expansion. More to follow. Obviously this will cause great job creation in Canada. So the question is – isn’t this a great “infrastructure” idea for “investing” in jobs? How silly of me, obviously increasing taxes is how to “create” jobs. Gotta love the photo accompanying the article for the emotion-addled ones to remind them of the Exxon Valdez disaster. Maybe we should have a moratorium on single hulled oil tankers and drunken ship captains. Does this mean false flagged oil tankers from Algeria and Saudi Arabia will be banned from our east coast & the St. Lawrence?
Didn’t think so. Obviously parliament was consulted? No? Anyway, they can count on Dipper support; so off to Paris. We have until 2019 to get rid of these idiots spouting “what Canadians want” without bothering to ask them. Perhaps Parisians, given today’s events, can give Mr Trudeau some advice on importing terrorists, especially to inevitable unemployment and thus auto-alienation, so they can be further radicalized by local “lone wolf” agencies.
Ah yes, government by infantile fear mongering, rather than “dividing Canadians.” That will get Keystone approved eh? No? Wait for the “review” and subsequent “moratorium” on the Canada East pipeline eh? Maybe Trudeau doesn’t want to soak the West after all; he just wants to starve them. Brad Wall is right, if oil doesn’t flow through this pipeline, neither will the money.
At least someone in the US is embarrassed by this eco-childishness:
“Former U.S. ambassador ’embarrassed’ by handling of Keystone XL review”
“The plain-spoken South Carolina native is now a partner at Nelson Mullins, Riley & Scarborough LLP, where he works on Canada-U.S. matters in the firm’s public policy and international law practice. U.S. lobbying database records show the firm had the Alberta government as a client at a time when the province was pushing hard to get Keystone XL approved.”
“Frankly, I was embarrassed by the way my government handled the whole thing. A seven-year delay. Absolutely unnecessary. That simply is not how you treat a friend, period,” said Wilkins. ‘This is a classic example of politics trumping good policy. President Obama chose politics, in my opinion’.” http://www.nationalnewswatch.com/2015/11/13/former-u-s-ambassador-embarrassed-by-handling-of-keystone-xl-review/#.VkZcUPaFOM9
Some of the losers are native communities who would have received a portion of the pipeline revenue.
But activists paid off some of them to make a fuss, and they took the easy money.
Brenda Kenny, president of the Canadian Energy Pipeline Association. said she has seen recent polling for industry which suggests 48 per cent of respondents think Canada won’t use any oil and gas in 10 years
48% or let’s say one-half. That is staggering! How stupid are people that they can believe that? That’s why we can’t get a pipeline built. Too many people think that it will be obsolete in a few years.
Obama screwed TCPL for years, cost them a staggering amount of money, knowing full well he would never approve the pipeline. The objective is to destroy corporations. He said he would bankrupt coal companies. I expect that the oil sands will not grow again until all corporate involvement has been driven out, once they are the property of the socialist state and can be operated by government bodies they will come back. You know, Venezuelan-style…
Separation at this stage is the only solution. We are 3 weeks in post election and this is what the west can expect going forward. We really have nothing left in common with the east.
does this have anything to do with the exxon valdez fukup? gee, MAYBE if the energy companies were a bit more CAREFUL with those millions of barrels of goo, there would not be such an inclination to restrict their movements. ’tis a sad record of spill spill spill all over the world.
furthermore, Im still waiting to hear why it is ‘bad for the economy’ when oil prices go down, down, waaaaaay down thus saving energy costs for EVERYONE. how *does* that work? bit of excessive self interest popping its head up there mr oil industry commentator? hmmm?
oh, and shamrock, it’s ALL politics now. all of it. used to be about 1/4 to half was politics and the rest was history, technology and common sense etc. not anymore. now its ALL politics and matters not where one is on the spectrum.
politics framed in entertainment.
Who cares, it’s not like Albertans give a rats arse cause if they did they would be blocking the railroads at BC border both ways, see how they like the port of Vancouver shut down for a few weeks. Need to do what the natives do: block or disrupt the railway/gas and oil pumping stations/highways.
I won’t hold my breathe. This place is a shadow of itself from when I came here 18 years ago. No fight left in this place. Roll over and take it by’s!
I think posters who are too lazy to even press the shift key for proper punctuation should be banned.
Every time you see a writer that thinks starting sentences in lower case is cool then you know you are dealing with a fool.
Totally predictable.
Getting what they voted for good and hard.
So much material so little time.
What is the largest vessel one can get into Skagway?
The Yukon Territory Government is semi reasonable, the NWT can be bought, BC can be bypassed with Alaskan cooperation.
Assuming a peasant revolt in Alberta and a Republican government in USA.
And it is a given that these Libtards will revolt most of the West before years end.
I imagine Enbridge will be sueing the federal government as they already received regulatory approval for the pipeline. I imagine they’ve spent a pile of money already. Good thing we have all those high paying jobs to pay taxes with…………….oh wait.
Seperation.
Or perhaps even, “separation”
The Exxon Valdez. Really. You’re still worried about a one-off that happened almost 30 years ago? You deserve the negative economic growth you’ll get under this gang of pinheads. You deserve the increased chance of spills coming from shipping oil by rail instead of in a pipeline too.
Too bad you’ll drag me into your mire of stupidity and innumeracy as well.
So why is it a ban on just the northern B.C. coast and not all of the B.C. coast?
/sarc
You’re not getting the subtlety here. Enbridge still has the right and permission to build the pipeline. It’s just that boats won’t be allowed to ship the stuff out.
Disgraceful! Economic sabotage!
PM Butts has imposed his embargo on the west coast and the newly elected “Liberal” climate change activists have declared war against the west… did anyone expect anything different? Separation now!
Maybe it’s time to examine the reasons for the countries existence. What is it exactly? Is it the obligation of those of us in the hinterlands to hew wood and draw water in order for the rulers in the East to hand us out a favour or allow membership in Club Canada? Why was the country formed and what benefit do we derive from belonging to the club?
If Provinces can be held for ransom. If they can be denied access to world markets by their neighbours who’s territory needs to be crossed by rail, pipeline or road – how long will it be before an internal trade war breaks out? We may as well be negotiating with a foreign country.
Well, so much for the Canadian “oil industry.”
Pity we put all our eggs in one basket.
And then burnt the basket.
Don’t be utterly stupid. How will separating Alberta from Canada help you in the slightest in getting Alberta oil to market. I’m unaware of Alberta having a seaport.
And by the way, the day that Alberta unelects bonehead Notely, I’ll take you seriously. Regardless of what happened to the pipeline routes or any future price changes, she’s singlehandedly killed off any further Alberta development by postponing the royalty review for two years.
Have you talked to people from Northern BC and the interior?
They are different to those Urban creatures on the coast.
Donate Vancouver and Victoria back to Canada and the rest would form an alternate country with Alberta Saskatchewan, territories and Alaska with great pleasure .
Hell you could probably induce half of Manitoba in right now. After a couple more years of the Drama Queen governance, there is a good chance you could separate out Northern Ontario as well.
Look at the election night vote, innumeracy is concentrated in our cities.
The current top down government of Canada is Kleptocracy.
Governance by thieves for the benefit there of.
Has been this way for decades.
The Liberal voting base is dominated by persons who live off of the productivity of others.
Notley will be gone soon enough, the raped and pillaged Alberta taxpayers will be cranky as hell.
I doubt she will make 4 years.
The f*cking Canadian electorate deserves what they voted for. you would think that after Ontario and the Alberta fiascoes they would have seen the light but no, their collective heads are so far up their asses they couldn’t tell crap from granola.
My biggest regret is that I will soon tire of saying “I told you so” to the sheeple and that the rest of us will suffer too.
Naw. Too many chicken *hit progressives in the present Conservative Party.
To be blunt, the electorate deserve everything the the wrecker Prime Minister Butts will do to Canada.
I vote no to donating Victoria to WLOC.
Hey dipshit, I’m sorry I hurt your feelings… YOu should also know that I”m not from Alberta dear girl, I’m from British Columbia, and yes I would very much like to see the western Provinces, not just Alberta, leave the Oligarchical State of Trudopia. You don’t like my opinion regarding this issue and frankly I couldn’t care less what you like or don’t like, got that sunshine?
Me, too. Too close to home.
uh no.
pipelines are the best sol’n for moving oil, seeing as the vast vast majority of the ‘stuff’ that’s moving is EXCLUSIVELY the oil. and as far as I am aware, a great deal of the pipeline is buried, out of harm’s way and out of sight. or perhaps you think that the pipeline is sitting on a rail and moves with the oil? hmmm?
do not speculate sirrah on what my preferences and beliefs are regarding the oil business.
I don’t give a rat’s ass what rock you crawled out from under. What you said was utterly stupid and will in no way help the situation.
Bongo doesn’t want any tanker traffic on the wet coast? Has he ever look at the ships anchored in Burrard Inlet while luxuriating in a downtown Vancouver hotel? Some of those are tankers. They have been sailing into Vancouver for decades. There is a refinery in Burnaby which is also on Burrard.
Guess he wants to shut it down as well.
Your opinion of my opinion is utterly meaningless, almost as useless as the balls you had surgically attached to your chin. Once again nummnutz I couldn’t care less what you think regarding my opinions, understand?

Here’s the problem. Canadians have been duped by Suzuki and his ilk that the future is bright and there’s no more need for oil and gas.
