If you play by their rules, they can change the rules at will (one of them is “for me, but not for thee”). The sooner people say “no” rather than trying to out-prog the progs, the better. Mind you, having equal numbers of men and women does not necessarily mean that women were given the soft ride, the real problem here is not so many women but the assumption that equal numbers are necessary. If you selected the thirty most qualified people, why would it not be possible for twenty to be women? Or ten?
    What is the actual point of it, beyond optics? Are there also equal numbers of tall and short people? Lawyers and non-lawyers?

  16. The media will mercilessly attack any CPC leader, male or female. If they fear the new leader, the attacks will increase in ferocity. The CPC could have picked Mary Magdalene, Mother Teresa or Florence Nightingale and the criticism would have continued unabated. The only female who could have possibly lessened the fury of the attacks would be Hillary Clinton and she wasn’t available.

  23. Trudeau’s birthday is Christmas day and upcoming that will trump ALL in the media. I feel like I’m living in North Korea and everyday everything everywhere is about dear leader.
    It was reported that Trudeau will only be in the House 1 day a week for Question Period…due to his tight schedule. I have a mental picture of him being hidden away in a classroom with a pull down geography map and someone trying to teach him the countries of the Middle East and Europe.
    Questions are to be directed to the cabinet ministers…and the new PM wants his questions in advance (I assume so his answers can be scripted…just like Obummer stateside reading from the telepromter).

    A lot of people believe a lot of stupid things. I would argue that having direct job experience with something would provide considerable insight into a department. Especially when it comes to defence and the veterans who were royal screwed by Harper’s government. Royally. I mean WOW. It’s like you guys would rather just grind up vets for dog food or something the way you “respect” their service.
    And I’m not really sure you understand what the “Marxist”, or “tyrant” actually mean.
