From underneath an article by John Fund of the National Review, in which he lauds Andrew Coyne as “Canada’s most distinguished political commentator and a conservative respected in the way George Will is in the U.S.”, here’s an exemplary comment (I’ll leave the format and spelling as-is):
Paul Krugman
had an excellent article in Friday’s NYTimes about how the Canadian middle class and business secotr wanted an end to austerity economics and deficit obsessiveness. People also began to
believe, with good reason, that Harper was relying on Republican
advisors and dirty tricks in foisting his plans on the country. People are celebrating

We don’t need policy that is bold or radical. We need a steady hand at the helm.

“relying on Republican advisors” … it was Trudeau who had the Obama advisors on board! Arrg. You always know what the other side is guilty of doing based on what they’re accusing our side of doing.
As for a reader tip: a few days ago I heard a caller-in on Ottawa conservative talk-radio star Lowell Greene’s show tell the story that his wife worked at a polling booth in the Ottawa area on Monday and had never seen so many young people show up to vote before. And many of them asked, “Why isn’t Justin Trudeau on the ballot?”
The children are our future, and I’m furiously digging that moat, Kate.
LIBERAL DREAM: TRUDEAU AND COMPANY WILL SHUT TARSANDS DOWN
I’m sure you’ve all heard of the Desmarais family, and Power Corporation. The company, a Quebec investment firm, owns Canadian Oil Sands Ltd. that holds huge shares in Syncrude, Suncor, etc. through a series of complex holding companies. I’m also confident that you know that former PM Chretien’s daughter France is married to Andre Desmarais, son of Paul Desmarais, founder of Power Corp. It’s a well know fact that the Desmarais family have been deeply rooted in the Liberal party for years. At the time of his death in 2013, Paul Desmarais Sr. was worth over $4.5 billion Cdn.
Read what Wikipedia says about who runs the Alberta Tarsands.
”The co-Co-Chief Executive Officers are André Desmarais and Paul Desmarais, Jr.. Pierre Beaudoin is President and Chief Executive Officer of Bombardier Inc. Marcel R. Coutu is President and Chief Executive Officer of Canadian Oil Sands Limited.
As a holding company, the officers run the companies through the various Boards.
(Cont’d.)
Former Prime Minister of Canada, Paul Martin, was hired in the 1960s to work for Paul Desmarais, Sr. by Maurice Strong. Martin became President of Canada Steamship Lines, a subsidiary of Power Corp., and in 1981 Desmarais sold the company to Martin and a partner. Martin went on to make his personal fortune as an owner of CSL.
Former Prime Minister of Canada Jean Chrétien sat on the board of Power Corp. subsidiary Consolidated Bathurst in the late 1980s before he became the leader of the Liberal Party of Canada. Chrétien’s daughter France is married to the son of Paul Desmarais, Sr., André. Also Chrétien’s chief of staff Eddie Goldenberg worked in the past for Power Corp.
Former Prime Minister of Canada, the late Pierre Trudeau, served in the mid-1990s on Power Corp.’s international advisory board. Trudeau’s assistant Ted Johnson also worked for Power Corp. During the Trudeau administration Michael Pitfield held a variety of positions in government but during his time in the private sector he was at one time a Vice-Chairman of
Power Corp. and is currently listed as a Director Emeritus.
Former Prime Minister of Canada Brian Mulroney also has a relationship with Power Corporation. Mulroney’s friend Ian MacDonald described Desmarais as “Mulroney’s mentor in the business world,” and it is believed that Mulroney has done legal work for Power Corp. since the end of his term as Prime Minister. Additionally, former Mulroney Minister of Transport Don Mazankowski is currently Power Corp.’s company director.
Former Premiers of Ontario William Davis and John Robarts of the Progressive Conservatives have both sat on Power Corp.’s national advisory board. John Rae, the brother of former NDP Premier Bob Rae, currently serves as Power Corp.’s Executive Vice President. Former Premier of Quebec Premier Daniel Johnson, Jr. worked for Power Corp. from 1973 to 1981 and in the last three years of this term was a Vice-President in the company.
Former member of the Liberal Party of Canada Maurice Strong became President of Power Corp. by his mid-thirties. He had a role in the creation of the Canadian International Development Agency and in 1976 he was appointed to run Petro-Canada. He later worked for the United Nations. Power Corp.’s international advisory board has featured individuals such as former German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt, former oil minister of Saudi Arabia Sheikh Ahmed Zaki Yamani, former head of the US Federal Reserve Board Paul Volcker, and the previously mentioned former Prime Minister of Canada Pierre Trudeau.
The former Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec’s President and CEO Henri-Paul Rousseau became the vice-chairman of the company and a member of the board of directors of Power Corporation.” (End of quote.)
I doubt that Justin Trudeau will just walk into Syncrude’s facilities in Fort. Mac and turn the switches off, in the name of Kyoto!! If they (Liberals) were actually interested in Kyoto, that would have been done a long time ago.
Now you know who control’s Canada’s oil.

I talked with my 30 year old nephew today. He said that all his friends and his girl friend’s friends were all talking about what a monster Harper was and he was sure they all voted Liberal. He also said that they were living a very good life, exotic holidays and cars, yes ‘they never had it so good’.
Re: ”He said that all his friends and his girl friend’s friends were all talking about what a monster Harper was and he was sure they all voted Liberal.”
A: I believe that the hatred spread against Stephen Harper was a consorted effort carried out by high ranking Liberals who permeated the Mainstream Media.
B: I also believe that the hatred was not necessarily directed at Stephen Harper as much as it was at Western Canada, and by Quebec and Ontario federal Liberals.
C: I further believe that the first step to stopping a lot of the negative rhetoric against Harper could have been stopped by shutting down the CBC, a move that would have been welcomed by the majority of Canada.
D: And last but not least, I believe the ultimate goal in the ”Hate Harper Campaign” was for Liberals to gain control of Western Canada’s energy resources, including Uranium that is the fuel of the future.
E: If we want to remain a viable political entity in Canada, it’s our (Conservative Party of Canada members) job to expose the scams.
This is odd.
I was browsing through a few sites and came upon an article that outlined ” Human rights in Islam”.
1. The Right to Life
The first and foremost basic right is the right to life. …
The propriety of taking life in retaliation for murder or for spreading corruption can be decided only by a proper court of law.
Homicide is thus distinguished from destruction of life carried out in the pursuit of justice. The Prophet (PBUH) has declared homicide as the greatest sin after polytheism. What is “polytheism” ?
Polytheism is; ‘ the worship of more than one god or diety. ‘
Polygamy is A-OK BTW. What is this “spreading of corruption ” ?
What is ” a proper court of law” ?
Is there one God that MUST be worshiped ?
3. Respect for the Chastity of Women:
The third important element in the charter of human rights granted by Islam is a woman’s honor, which must be respected and protected at all times, regardless of her origins. A Muslim must not physically abuse her under any circumstances.
” Apart from individual lapses, it can never be found in the history of Islam that Muslims commit this crime against woman. It has never happened that after the conquest of a foreign country the Muslim army has gone about raping women, or, in their own country, the Muslim government has provided prostitutes for them ” Doth protest too much ???
5. The Individual’s Right to Freedom:
Islam has categorically forbidden the primitive practice of capturing a free human being to make him a slave or to sell him into slavery. Jizya is the answer.
They close with; “The world has not been able to produce more just and equitable laws than those given 1400 years ago. On the other hand, it is saddening to realize that Muslims nonetheless often rely on the West for guidance.
And Allah knows best. ”
There is much more.

‘a lot of the negative rhetoric against Harper could have been stopped by shutting down the CBC’
So what do you do about Oliver and Fife and Coyne and on and on. The destruction of any party or group necessitates destroying the credibilty of the leadership of the group you wish to push aside. The hatred was earmarked for all conservatives in general but Harper was targeted specifically. Peter Makay doesn’t get it. He’s calling for the conservatives to be more inclusive and… blah blah blah. Sorry Peter. We’re not hated just because we were lead by Harper; the hatred is for being conservative in the first place. Mulroney was progressive conservative to his core. Even the progressive part didn’t stop the calumny that was directed his way?

I see the media is pushing for more ”wide screens” and ”F series” pickups for the aboriginal community.
Look at the drivel in the comments section. Especially the part about returning to democracy with the Trudeau administration.
This was my comment. ”Any comment that would be written on CBC.Ca to support Harper would be deleted, a direct infringement of freedom of speech. So spare me the comments about ”return to democracy” and ”return to freedom” with a Liberal government in Ottawa.”
We already have that in Canada, although the licenses are for seven years (maybe five). You shouldn’t need a TV or radio license any more than you need a newspaper license. The issue is freedom of the press.
On the other hand, the CBC should be disbanded and its assets sold off. We have the right not to have our taxes pay for it. That’s also part of the concept of freedom of the press.
As for Greece, it’s no real surprise that the extreme left government wants to control the media.

Harper saw the increased political activism amongst First Nations during the Idle No More movement and thought ‘we’ve got to make sure these people don’t vote,’ Cameron said. She wanted to prove him wrong.”
” ‘He was quite violent with indigenous people through aggressive cuts and aggressive legislation that aimed to silence indigenous people’ Gazan said. ‘As much as he attempted to divide, he really brought people on Turtle Island together.’ ”

“‘Corrupt’ is the word to describe Ontario government’s ties to teachers’ unions”
“Corruption is a strong word, which we don’t often use in Canada when it comes to politics. It infers a blatant disregard for honesty, ethics or principle. But it’s the word that springs to mind when you contemplate the insidious relationship between Ontario’s Liberal government and the teachers unions they do so much to cultivate and please.
How else to describe it?”

Good Sunday reading: 600th Anniversary of Agincourt, by Abraham Blonde at The Trumpet.
“The uncanny resemblance between Stephen Harper and Narendra Modi
The analogy between the Liberals in Canada and the Congress in India at the present moment is deliciously apt”
“Replace Harper with Modi, and Laurentian elites with Lutyens Delhi elites, and the parallel is exact. Both leaders threatened the cosy hegemony of a supposedly liberal—in reality, self-serving, opportunistic, and at times explicitly venal—elite class tied umbilically over decades with a vast, interconnected, nepotistic, and crony-driven patronage network presided over by each country’s self-presumed natural party of government—the Liberals in Canada and the Congress in India.”

“Poland elections: Conservatives secure decisive win”
“If the numbers suggested by the exit poll are confirmed, it will be the first time since democracy was restored in Poland in 1989 that a single party has won enough seats to govern alone, the BBC’s Adam Easton in Warsaw says.”
“Poland’s conservative opposition Law and Justice party has won parliamentary elections.
Exit polls suggest it has enough seats to govern alone, with an anticipated 39% of the vote.
Its eurosceptic leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski has claimed victory, and the outgoing Prime Minister, Ewa Kopacz of the centrist Civic Platform party, has admitted defeat.
Law and Justice has strong support in Poland’s rural areas.”

“Mulcair would stop TPP
by The Canadian Press | Story: 149549 – Oct 11, 2015 / 8:38 pm”
“Tom Mulcair says Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau is going along with what the NDP leader calls Stephen Harper’s job-killing Trans-Pacific Partnership deal, telling voters he’s the only one who can ensure a better agreement for Canadian workers.
Campaigning Sunday in British Columbia, Mulcair accused the prime minister of desperately signing on to a secret trade deal with 11 Pacific Rim partners simply to have something to announce on the election trail.
“They all saw him coming,” Mulcair said. “So guess what, we didn’t get a good deal for Canadian families.””
