  35. The divide is quite stark, this country has a difference of opinion that is geographical.
    The east keeps voting for Wynne/McGinty types, they have consistently supported persons who western Canada cannot abide.
    In the east I guess they like to be kissed while being raped.
    In the west it is still rape.
    This sets up an interesting dynamic, the west wanted in, we got sucked in even appeared to hold power for 10 years.
    Are we better off? Less indebted? More secure in our homes?
    I doubt the Liberals will even pretend to consider the potential powder keg, before their royal arrogance overwhelms them.
    Remember under the Conservative coalition option, no one went to jail for High River, no one accepted responsibility for CSA, the most odious aspects of Bill C68 are still law.
    Income is still taxed as if it is a sin;As in Sin Tax.
    Fools and bandits can govern for years when there is wealth.
    Where is the wealth in Canada today?
    Harpers calm, almost apathetic electioneering does make me wonder, the PM has better access to info than most of us, yet even I can see that Europe is broke,unstable, the USA is broke and the world trading scheme is wobbling.

    Now Trudeau gets to live through the aging population economic decline blowback that will make the anti-Harper tantrums seem like speed dating. No doubt pissing off baby boomers will get him re-elected eh?
    It took Harper his entire tenure to begin the process of digging Canada’s out of its entitlement and low information trap. Now Trudeau will throw us back into it. The Great Canadian Temper Tantrum got what it wanted – Harper’s scalp. Now he’ll skulk off to running the IMF or something. Way to go, all that affluence was too much for them. My father in law often said Canadians couldn’t stand prosperity; we’ve proven him right once again.
    And it’s name is Trudeau again. No we won’t hear much talk of proportional representation or legitimate mandates. Now we get a pop star, our very own Obama. IOW we’ll get a Wynne mentored fool who actually believes taxing, spending & borrowing other peoples’ money takes any vision or wisdom. Progressives know in their heart while realists think with their brains.
    To all our young voters. Now you have your own video game as a PM, just wait until you get to the next level. Did you notice that he’s going to run “small” deficits, for a little while, like his dad, so just temporary.. I said small ones, perhaps only $20b in his first budget. Anyway his daddy managed to run up a $144b (in todays dollars), so there’s lots of room for “investment” there.
    BTW, that’s a debt you get to pay back, in tomorrow’s dollars, not me. So enjoy that when you get to pony up taxes later at higher tax rates. I’m sure you’re OK with that as long the “middle class” has it easier now. Kids like paying their parents’ expenses. One more thing, the bank of Mom & Dad has closed; sorry gotta save up for higher taxes, since I’ll be paying the “rich”‘s taxes, given there’s a snowball’s chance in Hades the actual rich will pay up.
    Estate taxes. Removing the primary residence exemption. No way Trudeau would do that, right? How else is he going to raise the $150b he’s promised. Do you actually believe marijuana and carbon taxes will cover that?

    I’m off to form the provincial BC Libertarian party, where it doesn’t matter who from Ont/PQ is the PM, because we don’t permit equalization payments or transfers outside of BC, where no civil servant may earn more than evil threshold of $200,000 salary, and where we collect our own taxes and pensions, all of them. I guarantee I won’t be “conservative enough” for some of you but I hope you will find my views palatable. Limited government shall always be its hallmark, with some conservative ideas like limiting civil servant salaries. I have some nice ideas for you bottom up union types too.

We all know that Trudeau will fall far short of even being a mediocre Prime Minister but we can survive that.   41. Some pretty direct regional consequences. In Victoria, there was promise of a new overpass that is basically the bottle neck into and out of the city to the rest of the island the the suburbs. That overpass once again, will not be built. As for the rest of it, well the last 9 years have been a dream come true and now it’s back to how Canada used to work. The west is an afterthought and Quebec and Ontario rule. Don’t you forget it you western minions.

  50. Blame Ontario for this mess. Ontario continues to vote Liberal even though the federal Liberal party is run by a bunch of Quebec elites who hate Ontario and everything west of it. If the people of Ontario would get a clue and realize this, we might be able to get some control on the continual expansion and cost of government.
