  1. “resulting in the murder of 3,000 Americans and Canadians – didn’t engender a sense of confidence in the screening procedures. He told me I was being racist.”
I can top that. A year or so ago, my brother was doing some work at YVR (Vancouver) and was accompanied by a YVR employee. Both were of course wearing employee/contractor identification tags. The YVR employee told him not to look surprised as they entered through the security door to a ‘secure area’ of the airport.
When they did so, my brother WAS surprised to have his ID checked by a woman in a burka – yes, the full black tent – though she herself wore no photo ID. The YVR employee just looked at him and rolled his eyes with the old “what are you gonna do” expression.

  2. Everytime I go thru airport security in Canada I see one of those and think I’m on the wrong side of the machine. They are inattentive as well. I took a full bottle of wine thru London heathrow, they might be blind to alcohol enshala.

  3. Apparently Mayor Nenshi feels that dealing with issues that the majority of Canadians feel quite strongly about is nothing more than trolling for votes. Just another elitist who feels that he must tell the great unwashed masses just what is important and what is not. Perhaps he should just stfu, look after Calgary and stay out of federal politics. If he finds that he has time on his hands he can always offer advice to his favourite premier, Rachel Notley.
How do these out-of-touch dickwads keep getting elected?

  4. Great reply Bittsy. I’m still laughing.
The Feds provide oversight on airport security. But they hire locally. The company doing the screening is issued a local business licence from city hall. I’m betting the Calgary Police Service does the enhanced background checks on potential employees. Heck even the airport Authority needs a business licence from the local municipality to operate. The only thing the Feds do is hire the Security screening company. The amount and type of mutual back-scratching between the Feds, the airport Authority and City Hall will be the thing that determines the level of safety for passengers who fly. The weak link is the muncipality, which is responsible for vetting the professionalism of the security company and the background of its employees. And that link in the chain is open to meddling from the politicians running city hall. That makes the municipality responsible for airport screening no matter what you and the Federal apparatchiks like to think.
And nice try at the misleading comments on the sari thing. But the supervisor I spoke to that day confirmed that the employees were muslim.
But I was wondering, wouldn’t your comments be an example of taquiya?
Finally, I may be a bigoted jerk, but I come by it honestly. It was a bunch of muslims who flew three aircraft into the World Trade Center towers and Pentagon on 9-11, murdering some 3,000 Americans and Canadians. Yet the muslim employees at Calgary airport insist on showing a remarkably callous insensitivity to the passengers they screen by wearing a headbag that declares their loyalty to the cult responsible for the mass murder of airline passengers that occurred on 9-11. This same islamic cult is currently neck-deep in the genocide of Yazidi and Christian populations, the reinstitution of slavery, the cult-motivated rape of pre-pubescent children, and the mass executions of non-believers through beheadings, crucifixions and auto-de-fete. The majority of muslims I see on the unedited media feed are sociopathic savages intent on killing or enslaving me. The ones here in Canada want to force Sharia on this country. The ones doing airport screening advertise the supremacy of islam over the kafir and Canadian regulations by wearing a jib jab as ordered by their male relatives. If it is bigoted to loath your disgusting little death cult and mock its cult symbolism, then I am happily bigoted.
And I don’t believe for a minute that you are “conservative.”
    So get stuffed.

  5. Alberta is incredibly being flushed into the proverbial cesspool of history. How could this happen? Time for TROC to wake up. I know that won’t happen. Every now and then we need to experience hardship to wake up to the fact that stupid left-wing governments bring a lot more hardship than solutions. That mayor guy in Calgary is just another Muslim wolf in sheep’s clothing.

  6. “Alberta is incredibly being flushed into the proverbial cesspool of history.’
You’re right, it’s incredible. As in ‘not credible’ as an idea.
Why are you and so many others on this thread so stupid?
Have you even looked at the election numbers riding per riding and understood what happened and how Alberta is transitioning to a truly conservative government with the NDP as a temporary transitional winner because the conservative vote was split in the election on the way to a new status quo?

  7. Oh yes Notley should STFU. “Alberta’s Notley says she is troubled, disappointed with the niqab debate.” Well dear, in relation to you disappointment is a common thing.
“I really don’t want to actually fire this up a lot more but I will say simply this: I am disappointed and troubled to see minority rights issues becoming political footballs in the election,” she told reporters on a conference call about her economic mission to Eastern Canada and the U.S.
“I don’t think that is helpful.” Notley did not cite any of her specific concerns. “I am going to leave it at that,” she said.

Well why then did you fools bring it up? Could it be for “political reasons” or does only Harper do that? Or did you just jump the political shark and are looking for a way out?
Meanwhile “Kenney fires back at Calgary Mayor Nenshi over niqab ban.”
“Kenney hit back at Nenshi’s statement that Stephen Harper is playing a “dangerous” political game with his position on the niqab and “dog whistle politics” by accusing the Calgary mayor of playing dangerous politics himself. “If anything’s dangerous, it would be legitimizing a medieval tribal custom that treats women as property rather than people …” Kenney told the Calgary Herald earlier Thursday. “It seems to me that it’s the mayor and people like him who are politicizing it. I don’t think this should be an issue of contention.”
What’s truly dangerous is politicians and the SCOC defying voters. Holding yourself on a higher moral plane than Joe & Mary Sixpack is dangerous for your careers btw. This is what Harper meant when he talked about self-appointed elites thinking we must yield to their better virtues, at taxpayer expense of course.

  8. so oz, you got what the people wanted. the people proved their stupid and you think hitting me is the solution. oz, you are the problem.

  9. Gamblers say everybody has “tells” when they are lying, Nutley’s tell is when she tilts her head to the right and gives that stupid looking smile. From that point forward you can discount all that she says.

  10. What do you think of the media black-out? Even Facebook on Journal & Herald shut off. Is it a conspiracy to hurt Harper and quiet Albertan’s angry with Notley? Sure seems so. I cancelled my subscriptions to Edmonton Journal and Herald after the LAST federal election and my subscriptions to the Sun during this election. Very frustrating situation. Not only that I was really hoping to gloat when Harper is re-elected.
