Fiorina, despite a largely ridiculous format and set of questions by CNN.
.@CarlyFiorina on why she wouldn't put a woman on the $10 or $20 bill http://t.co/nPihf7AgC1 #CNNDebate #GOPDebate http://t.co/IdSmCFT8l6
— CNN (@CNN) September 17, 2015
Update: Highest rated event in CNN history.

Fiorina is one tough lady. I loved watching her eyes. She had the best answers for sure.
As a father of a woman who has grown to be the equal of any man, I echo her words… God Bless her.
Liked Fiorina, Trump held his own, Rubio and Cruz did well. Bush, Kasich, unfortunately Carson and Walker, and Paul should throw in the towel. Bush was the big loser and Kasich always was.
Ms Fiorina more than held her own with the better known suits.
Rubio & Christe “punted” climate change, nobody disagreed with them
Carly made a mistake when she said she would not talk to Putin!
Dr Carson hurt himself on Afghanistan….defense
Cruz was constant
Fiorina trumps Obama’s “Yes we can” with a “Yes we can and will.” A call for America to return to greatness in security and in character.

Those who answered regarding the first woman on the $10 bill, mentioning their wife, mother or daughter, were lame. Fiorina’s answer was best but only because no man up there could get away with saying that a woman should not replace anyone on the currency. So while I liked her answer the most, the gents didn’t stand a chance because of that. Rosa Parks was also a good answer.
While there was a lot of good debate tonight, I don’t know that anyone will yet steal much of Trump’s share of the pie. He was definitely out of his depth tonight – and at one point admitted as much – but his following I think is loyal, and it’ll take a lot more than that debate to knock him down. But a week in politics can be a long time, let alone another 14 months. Be interesting to see how things shake out.
Thought Fiorina had a strong showing, and had to bite her lip with that question. That had to hurt the Donald, me thinks.
CNN gave Trump way more than his fair share of time.
My take: Rubio strong, Carson, Fiorino & Cruz good, Christie Ok; the rest ho-hum, but not the best production by CNN.
Carly Fiorina looked good because she was asked virtually no “gotcha” questions.
Donald Trump looked so-so because virtually all he was asked was “gotcha” questions by CNN which was looking for ratings like Fox did at the first debate.
Agree. Pftt, $10 bill. If someone doesn’t turn the American economy around,(it’s impossible) discussion about who?! will replace the face on the 10(conservative default position is if it Ain’t Broke Don’t Fix It and don’t humour the communists by suggesting fixes) is like arguing about the Logo of the manufacturer of the deck chairs of the Titanic.
These are UNSERIOUS questions about UNSERIOUS issues and it isn’t a surprise that any serious candidates don’t have touchy-feely answers to these airy-fairy bogus questions about how many angels should be, by politically correct regulation, allowed to dance on the head of a pin.
If I might add, Donald Trump is already in a position to openly scoff at these Bullwinkle questions. Ted Cruz might steal a march on Trump if he were to point it out and demand that the questions GET SERIOUS.
Too bad they do not have any true Potemkin candidates.
Q: Which woman should be on a $10 bill?
A: Hillary Clinton hanging by her neck after being executed for treason.
Trump handled himself well, with humour (“humble”), Ted Cruz was sharp and fiery as expected, Chris Christie was better than I’d expected. Kasich looked as though he wanted to deck Cruz. Fiorina was sour throughout the debate (I can’t stand her persona.:)
Which woman should be on the ten dollar bill??
Without a doubt, Loretta Lynn!!
She was a shining light in a world darkened by socialism and coal dust!!
https://youtu.be/xuC-5hzBN2o
Her answer was politically correct.
The answer should have been along the lines of ‘who cares, as long as I have a few in my pocket, but Hilary on the thousand would be appropriate’.
I would love to see this come down to Cruz and Fiorina…
Fiorina comes across as the most presidential of the group. Most moderators and candidates are likely afraid of giving her gotcha questions because she gives such terse responses.
It’s hard not to like Ben Carson but he sounded bit weak this evening. Bush had to choose whether to man up about drug use or just ignore it. He chose the 1st option but it really didn’t go well. I was surprised that Christie did as well as he did. Huckabeee wasn’t given much of an opportunity. He really does have the appearance as though he’s from a bygone era and no one was much interested in what he might have to say. To be superficial, he might have Looked more natural in a debate with Richard Nixon. Rand Paul is just a jackass. Rubio came across fairly well and had some strong points. Glad that he didn’t give any credence to AGW. Is it just me or does Cruz sound exactly like the leader of the pharaohs from American Graffiti? Carly had some well thought out comments and answers. Trump was a hoot of course and his presence makes the event a whole lot more entertaining.
Very good debate.
It is interesting to note the quality of the candidates. Did not see the Democrats with that kind of power.
Paul thinks he is not going to make it.
Huckaby knows that he is not going to make it.
Rubio speaks his ideas clearly without fear, smart, a lot of reserved confidence a good chance.
Cruz is good though it is not his time yet.
Carson has a real actual chance to go for it. Calm, deliberate, in control as though he was a surgeon or something.
Trump, a lot of hot air, some good points, thinks because he rules his real estate empire, he can rule others, forgets that they don’t work for him.
Bush is a political wonk. Hope that he follow his mother’s early comment that they had enough Bushes.
Walker looks like a youngster, should not give up, his time will come. Done well against all odds in Wisconsin.
Fiorina has the power, know what she wants and says it, takes no prisoners, has even chance. Like the communist said, she is a lethal force, beware.
Kasich is all warm and fuzzy, maybe a good man. President?
Christie is smart has sense of humor, will not make it.
Kate you are of the mark – under the challenge of having ten on the stage it wa an excellent debate that – climate change and dope questions aside were about issues that were important to gop voters.
Trump looked weak on substance and that will wear him down unless he hits the books. Carson was genial but has the same problem.
Fiorina was highly visible and nailed the planned parenthood issue. But her career at HP does drag her down. She could indeed be the big beneficiary from Carson and trump
Bush and kasich defended the establishment – that hurt them.
Bush is helping himself with that establishment vote but
Rubio may become their choice if he continues to demonstrate both his depth of understanding and his viceral passion for his country.
Huck looks worn out
Walker was invisible (and sweaty) he looks far too bland
Paul remains in the wilderness.
Christie is always fun but he has so much rino baggage
But Cruz I think realizes it’s a marathon. He was steadfast – a conservatives conservative. Missed a chance to declare he is a climate skeptic. His comments were on point and the more these debates move into the details the more he will look consistent and informed.
I thought Fiorina, Cruz, and Rubio did great.
BizPac Review had a “Who do you think won” vote for their readers and the numbers are interesting.
I forgot the link to the BizPac poll.

Woman on the 10?
Susan B Anthony as they already exist as a 1 dollar. ,but inflation equivalent
Guffman >
“Those who answered regarding the first woman on the $10 bill, mentioning their wife, mother or daughter, were lame”
Agreed, all anyone smart had to say was “OPRAH WINFREY”, and they’d have made him President on the spot.
Trump looked like a moron when he tried to argue vaccinations with Dr. Carson. The bravado of his argument–on a subject he clearly knows nothing about–makes one question how much of the other stuff he says is utter BS as well.
Fiorina was very impressive. She needs to bring some charm so she’ll contrast better with Hillary in the event she wins, but this should help her in both popularity and also fund raising.
Rubio was strong last night as well imo.
me thinks is one word, methinks.
Ben Carson is a decent, honorable fellow who made the mistake of getting involved in politics.
Trump won, sounded a little more refined , i still like his attacks on rand paul ,and his exchange with bush, and fiorina. Trump is right if you watched the interviews after with Ben Carson , Ben Carson actually agreed that there is to much to soon for little kids, Space it out over a longer period So no Carson did not make trump look stupid. He simply disagreed with trump that vaccines cause autism.
I think Cruz is Going to be the next one to surge and i hope huckabee and Paul drop out.
I think trump is the only person up their shrude enough to actually use the nukes that usa has on its enemies.
I still believe
Trump President
Cruz Vice President
Allen West Secretary of defence
Trey Gowdy Governor General
Sarah Palin Energy Minister
All of which Trump said he would appoint. So to me trump is not stupid at all He may not know all things but he knows who does. And that is what matters.
Trump/Cruz 2016
Methinks CNN was purposely trying to get a “food fight” started. Those questions were mostly idiotic. Trump looked a bit less confident and sure, while Bush seemed to have taken advice from The Donald and had a bit more life/energy. You could see as time wore on that everyone was trying to get their fireside chat moment although I think Rubio got that one. Dr Carson is too smart and cerebral to be president although he could do well as Surgeon General. As much as I admire Carly Fiorina, who did a bang up job, I don’t think the Republicans are ready for a female candidate. I would like to see her as VP. Someone who could duke it out with the baddies while the prez takes the high road. A good cop/bad cop team as it were.
Now I get to suffer through the Canadian debate tonight. Please tell me Dizzy Lizzy won’t be there.
I have to agree largely with Texas Canuck regarding the idiotic questions and the obvious attempts at starting a fight among the candidates. The criticism of the Donald regarding lack of depth on some of the issues is moot. The know-it-all folks in government are not using their depth to do squat. Everything is a mess, perhaps not being bogged down with all the tripe and foreplay and inside shit etc … is a good thing. I have always been thankful to not have attended college only to have my mind messed up by the marxist twats who have taken over the educational industry long ago.
I Republicans may not be ready for a female candidate, but that would be a huge surprise to everyone and I believe Carley against the douce Hillary would be successful. Voting a women head of the party would be thinking outside the box … not something the GOP is good at. Maybe they should give it a go. Trump would hire the smartest people in the world to advise him and he would likely appoint a knowledgeable Veep.
It’s not enough to get the Democrats out, we must put someone in who will actually do something that the majority would want done. Like borders, lower taxes, stronger military, tougher immigration, dump Obama care and set up a more viable and fair private system. Stop the greening insanity, etc.
Too bad no one answered the $10 question this way:
“Is that what you’re concerned about? The symbol? Because we have a black man in the white house, and that was supposed to be a symbol, but do you really think black Americans are better off today than they were before he was elected? Symbols are important, but not as important as actions; we’ve seen the results of a symbol-first president – Putin laughs at him, the Chinese send their navy off our coast, and he bows to Saudi kings. That’s not good for America – it’s not good for the world, either – and as President, I’ll focus on real action, and let the symbols take care of themselves.”
I couldn’t agree with you more.
I think Carly would make mincemeat out of Clinton. I think she can talk around the HP layoffs.
Someone suggested a Trump/Cruz ticket which has a nice mix of assertiveness and legislative know how. Trump’s pick as VP might carry him through.
Christie is a great speaker and should inherit Walker supporters. It should keep him in the race.
I really like Rubio. Speaks well and is obviously very well informed. He would do well with Latinos and that trumps Bush.
How can anyone seriously believe that Trump could be president. He is the emperors new clothes in person. A platform of “I’m great.. I’m rich.. I’ll do great.. You stink…”blah blah blah..Seriously folks????
Women are not a special interest group,; women are the majority. At least one candidate has brains. I like Carly.
Which woman should be on the (US) ten dollar bill?
Queen Charlotte of course! (The wife of George III)
But seriously, what a ridiculously insipid question to put before a candidate for president!
Good grief.
Surprised they didn’t ask: Coke or Pepsi?
Carly crushed it….she’s tough, she’s smart, and I wouldn’t want to go up against her. So she got fired from HP….most people have been or should have been at one time or another, helps develop character! I hope she rides this to the top. I would love to see her decimate that old cow Clinton in a debate….I would actually pay to see that. Go Carly!!!!!!!
i think she misspoke
I think she meant ‘the time for talk is finished’.
Carley is a reasonable woman, and that is the only reasonable interpretation of her comment.
that said, it was politically damaging, so we agree somewhat.
not a cogent comment.
you cannot know that Carly ‘looked good’ because she got no “gotcha questions”.
prior to this debate she has demonstrated an excellent command of the issues.
Trump didn’t lose any ground. Fiorina gained the most ground because of the pinpoint accuracy of her answers. Cruz and Rubio gained.
EVERYBODY else fell further back than they were when it started.
Doh!! I knew that 🙁
“I think Carly would make mincemeat out of Clinton. I think she can talk around the HP layoffs.”
Yes indeed, they were just layoffs, not forced/staged suicides. Nor were they left unsupported to fight to their deaths.
I like Carly.
But I remember what happened to Romney in 2012. He led in every category except “Does he care about me?” Romney was eviscerated as an uncaring, cold-hearted b@$tard by the Democrats in thousands of commercials and by their buddies in the media. And he lost the election because people did not like him.
Ms Fiorina will see thousands of commercials with tragic stories about dozens of laid off Lucent and HP families. She will be seen as a cold hearted B__, that does not care about the “little people.” And she will lose the election.
This does not even include the insane Queen Bee syndrome, where many women will not vote for her because she is a woman, and they see her as some sort of “threat” to their womanhood. Just ask Sarah Palin about that.
Fiorina will drive america into the ground like she did with HP. Women are not fit for politics, less so bitter childless harpies.
As it happens, I mostly agree with you (surprise, surprise).
I thought the best exchange in the entire debate, which was, at the very least, very informative, by any standard, was the square-off between Carly and Donald over whom was the better CEO: I thought it was a very thorough clearing of the air between them, which by the way, came down, very heavily, IMOO, in Carly’s favour (although I did not precisely understand her closing remarks, after which I just turned it off).
I had not been particularly interested in watching the debate, which I recorded, as a courtesy to my wife (but then I became interested). Carly is not afraid, and neither is Donald: in the same way that the “lower” classes in Britain talked about Churchill (and the Queen Mother, by the way), in 1935, 1936 or 1938 or something, apparently: “We want a a strong man, who is not afraid.”
I regard:
– Mario Rubio as a technician (this is how you fix a tank’s engine); and,
– Ted Cruz as a tactician (this is how you employ tanks in battle); and,
– Donald and Carly as strategists: “Do we really need tanks, or do we really, really think we need something different?
Everybody else needs to leave the stage, permanently.
It’s up to Donald how he wants to play this, IMOO only. He’d do well, if he wants to win, to seriously quit picking fights with people who can stick up to him.
You are right on the money. Trump, Cruz (plus Allen West and Trey Gowdy in the cabinet.) Ben Carson, for Health Minister and Lou Dobbs for Homeland Security…
Trump repeats himself, as they all do, but Carly Fiorina regurgitates whole speech sections, word for word. She is too rehearsed, anal and humourless, and she shamelessly uses the “I am a woman” card. That gets old fast. Trump was enjoying himself up on the stage, as Bush was.
Agreed, Trump needs to quit picking fights. It appears childish to way too many voters.
He also needs to hit the briefing books hard!
He has “the greatest staff working for him,” and right now, either they are failing him or he is not listening to them. Donald needs to put some meat on the bones of his ideas. I like most of his positions, he needs to go a little wonkish to convince people he can actually do what he promises.
But this CNN debate format does not allow him (or anyone) to do that. I was sick of Tapper saying Time! just as a debater was articulating an idea.
Paul, yer dog types with the same grammatical and spelling error you do, butt let him on that computer more often:-)))
https://carlyforamerica.com/blog/icymi-former-hp-board-member-tom-perkins-the-truth-about-carly/
“While lesser leaders would have accepted offers of transition plans and graceful resignations, Carly would have none of that. Carly demanded to be fired. In order to restore peace to the board I voted to fire her. That was a mistake.
In the months and years after Carly left, the Board of Directors remained dysfunctional. The Board members who plotted Carly’s ouster eventually resigned after an embarrassing investigation by Congress.”
Carly did not say she would not talk to Putin ever again, she said, clearly, that she would not call him on her first day in office.
The best American woman for the $10 bill? Not an appropriate question for a debate of this nature, but still interesting. I would say, one of Annie Jump Cannon, Barbara McClintock, Cecilia Payne, and Vera Rubin. The last two, in particular, have redefined our idea of what the Universe is made of.
Cecilia Payne was born in England but made her career in the US; because despite her ability, she could not have made it in the UK.
