Lance, if you want to better argue your case, search for the Julian di Battista post on my site. He’s a Tory running for Toronto Centre. When he was in college he wrote blog posts saying that “Ontarians are Idiots”. I posted those, he apologized in press few weeks ago. On one hand HE made case that his comments don’t count because he was a kid. On other hand I didn’t hear anyone saying it was unfair to bring it up because he was a kid. So heaping bowl fulls of hypocrisy for everyone.
Well it is definitely a too long, didn’t read but i did see the supposedly sexist bit. What he said was anthropologically correct. It is a pity that people are so easily offended by some uncomfortable facts. I read a bit on the first nations and so far it was not racist, just pro assimilation. Anyone who believes the indians have been well served by not assimilating into Canadian culture ought to spend a bit more time on a reserve.
So yeah, better get this guy fired, then complain when the conservative party is made up of a bunch of politically correct , slow lane progressives. Maybe we ought to report the guy for hate speech, huh?
“Ontarians are Idiots” But a lot of people think that. It is a common way of expressing dissatisfaction with political choices. Apologizing for a general statement like that is silly. It is not like he was targeting blacks or some other minority with the comment. Ontarians are a broad swath of society — known to make some foolish political choices on occasion. Hopefully they will smarten up in the upcoming election and recognize the damage that the Libs have done in Ontario.
So we can have all the useless media types fired for their constant refrain that Canadian voters who vote conservative are crazy stupid?

Face it, all of the parties need to do a better job of vetting their candidates. On the other hand, trolling social media for decontextualized comments contributes very little to genuine political discourse. However, since it’s a weapon that is used against Conservatives, it must become a weapon used by them. The only potential solution is some agreement to prevent Mutually Assured Destruction.
