Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

What They Say About SDA
"Smalldeadanimals doesn't speak for the people of Saskatchewan" - Former Sask Premier Lorne Calvert
"I got so much traffic after your post my web host asked me to buy a larger traffic allowance." - Dr.Ross McKitrick
Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle
"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood. - "Michael E. Zilkowsky
That’s only the half of it of course.
If it was predictable – that it would be like that every day – it would something other forms of generation could work around, but being wind – being, almost by definition, capricious – it is far more trouble than it is worth.
Wind could be matched with hydro but it sure is far more trouble than it’s worth. If you’re matching it with coal or nuclear, it’s 100% useless. You have to keep coal or nuke plants running even while the wind is blowing because startup is in hours or weeks.
Sorry Kate – I don’t get it. How come the mean hourly output jumps from super low just before midnight to (presumably) very high right after midnight. Is there something unique about that particular day? Did a bunch of them fall down? Cheers, Eric
Eric, It was windy the day before. If my farm machines ran like that, I would have gone broke.
the mega and macro scales are the same , Ontario is growing broke with theirs . and brits as well.
So then they need to build gigantic fan farms to be able to generate wind for when mother nature takes a break. Then the electric generating wind turbines would have consistent electrical output at all times. Then they could built giant light farms so that solar panels could work 24 hrs a day as well.
Wait for some liberal twit to draw an ‘average’ line for the day around the 1 GW mark and then say “see, no problem!”.
Liberals and enviroemntalists trying to hide the numbers of birds harmed by windturbines and those things are dreadfuly noisy many dont like them in their neighborhoods
So just when is hour #1, and what where the conditions? This graph will go nowhere as it is the exact opposite of what the warmistas is trying to show…..cool then super heat. Cripes. A triple A battery puts out 100% at 1 second of being used, then declines….unless you are an overpriced bunny. Putting all the eco-Nazis and politicians in front of a bird chopper won’t create 100% “output”, so where do we get 100% from? (doesn’t exist in nature…that nasty thing called the 2nd law of thermodynamics).
Geez Mike, don’t give them any ideas! Some doofus will take it and run with it.
