Yet, the Secretary of State, John Kerry, expects the Senate to okay a Treaty/with side agreements, neither he nor his staff have even read.
The Obama administration should be impeached in mass and replaced with adults.
My questions: Mr Secretary, why have you and your team given a propaganda victory to Iran at this time? Why have you rewarded the escalating terrorist activities of this rogue state, ultimately giving them even more resources without the need to sell their oil on the black market at reduced prices? Mr Secretary, how do you think this agreement prevents war? Why do you think war is inevitable without this agreement? Why won’t you call this agreement what it is, a treaty, under the auspices of the IAEA and nuclear non-proliferation treaties, and submit it to Congress for approval as required by the US Constitution? How can you argue this agreement/treaty is in the interest of nuclear non-proliferation when it is clear the reaction of other states such as Saudi Arabia and Israel will be to acquire &/or modernize nuclear weapons capabilities? Why have you abandoned deterrence and containment in favour of appeasement in the hope Iran will cease her rogue activities? Can you present any historical perspective to support that argument? Finally why do you let the information release policies of the IAEA take precedence over US law? Why shouldn’t US citizens, all citizens for that matter, be permitted to see the contents of these side deals with Iran and their relevance to the US brokered agreement?

The smart money says the US wrote the codicils for Iran and the IAEA on condition that they would be declared secret and therefore not discoverable in hearings such as this.

There is nothing Kerry stated which is out of the ordinary. All nations with nuclear technology have bilateral agreements with the IAEA for monitoring and verification, including Canada. All of those bilateral agreements are confidential between the IAEA and the nation being verified. The issue really becomes, can the IAEA be trusted to conduct the verification and will it report promptly any evasion of Iran’s safeguards regime.
There may be many poor things about the treaty with Iran. But the IAEA safeguards protocols are not one of them.

Um, no cgh, NO contract can be “legal” if the members to such an agreement do not understand the terms and conditions, which is the case here. The agreement need not be made public, just that the representatives who sign are aware of what they sign, which is not the case here. No country should ever sign on to what they have not read. It is their duty to their constituents that they do so. These agreements, between IAEA are man made, and not carved in stone. The USA has enough clout to make certain demands, and should have done so. It is nonsense such as what you posted that is the problem with the political industry of today. When protocols are wrong they should not be adhered to in cases as this!!!

Neither you nor Slapshot understand how the IAEA works. For its audits to function, it must have access to proprietary items which no nation will ever release to the world at large. They release these things only to the IAEA under conditions of absolute confidentiality. Its agreements are bilateral only. The two of you may not like it, but don’t waste my time telling me how the IAEA works. You are entirely entitled to your views as to how it should work, but that’s another matter entirely.
Fact is, Sherman should not have seen any details of the IAEA-Iran agreement. Such things name names, specific locations within sites, inventories and their natures, and processes. If she has done so, it would constitute a breach of the IAEA’s commitment to confidentiality. For Kerry to name her and comment that she may have seen it was a major blunder on Kerry’s part.

No, MKelley, Sherman would have nothing to do with “lowering the boom” on Iran. That would come through the IAEA reports to the UN Security Council. It’s then up to the Security Council to decide if there is a significant enough breach to warrant a clampdown. That’s what happened the last time about a decade ago when sanctions on Iran were first imposed. Of course she’s not qualified, she’s a State Department fartcatcher.
